James Costello: She’s a dedicated activist, a leader, a business owner, a wife, a mother, and an inspiration to pro-White activists around Britain and through the world! She’s the glue, everyone will agree. She is the glue that keeps everything together. She remains defiant and unapologetic before the implacable forces of darkness.

 

An example of this is when she responded to a request from Yorkshire Tea not to drink their tea – because she didn’t support their diversity nonsense – by founding her own tea company!:

 

“Don’t drink our tea!”

 

“Okay! I’ll make my own company, thank you very much!”

 

That’s Grandma Towler’s, which everybody has no doubt been drinking today.

 

She’s the kind of woman that you want on your side when times are hard. A tireless advocate for our people, she is a real woman for all seasons.

 

Please welcome co-host of Tea Time with Sam and Laura, the deputy leader of Patriotic Alternative, the indefatigable Laura Towler!

Laura Towler: Thank you. Thank you so much! So good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to Patriotic Alternative 2023 conference. It’s great to be here. I hope you’re all having a wonderful time so far, and I hope you all enjoyed the tea and coffee on arrival.

 

My small business, Grandma Towler’s, is doing the refreshments and also the afternoon tea today. And it’s the biggest event by far that I’ve ever catered for.

 

There are almost, 200 people here today. We’ve grown by an extra third from our last conference, and this is without advertising the event at all. It’s just passing it through our chats and through our contacts and stuff. Imagine how many people we would have here if we could actually make it public and advertise it!

 

When I volunteered to do the afternoon tea today, I didn’t realise that I was volunteering to make 200 scones! And the number kept going up and up as more and more people kept buying more and more tickets. And Mark kept saying to me:

 

“Are you sure you want to do this? You can drop out if you like. We can get somebody else to do the catering.”

 

And I said:

 

“No. I’m not quitting. I am making the scones!”

 

So, five bags of flour, a bag of sugar, about 30 eggs, and a very messy kitchen later, I would just like to say, first of all, I hope you do enjoy the afternoon tea.

 

But also, I’d just like to take this opportunity before I begin with my speech to say thank you to all the support that you’ve given to Grandma Towler’s over the last three years.

 

As James mentioned, I have to be honest, I sort of started the company as a bit of a joke. It was a middle finger to all these brands and corporations that were taking the knee and bowing down to Black Lives Matter.

 

And I thought I’d say to them:

 

“Well screw you then! We don’t need you!”

I didn’t realise that three years on the business would still be going strong. And Grandma Towler’s supports me and Sam so that we can do this full-time, so that we can do nationalism full-time. And it’s such a great honour for us to be able to dedicate our lives to such a moral cause. So honestly, soppy moment. Thank you for supporting us from the bottom of my heart.!

So my speech today is called, This is Not a Game. I absolutely love Patriotic Alternative conferences. They’re one of my highlights of the year, and I’ve been counting down the weeks to today. The reason that I love PA conferences is because it’s a rare opportunity for us to get together after a year of hard work, of protests and demos, long leafleting sessions in the rain and street stalls, and all the other incredible work that we do. We have a really positive and uplifting day. We get to listen to some great speakers, we get to eat some great food, we get to reminisce on the year that we’ve just had, and we get to look forward to the future together.

 

Patriotic Alternative is like a family for me. And I know that sounds a bit gay. [chuckling] If I heard somebody say that about another group, I’d probably think:

 

“God, get a life! Get some mates!”

 

But it’s true! I’m a huge introvert, and Patriotic Alternative is actually the first time in my life that I’ve ever looked forward to socialising. You can’t get me out otherwise! I spend my birthday with you guys. I’ve had the best conversations I’ve ever had in my life with the people in this room.

 

And when Sam and I found out that we were expecting our second baby [loud applause] who is expected to join us on the 20th of April, [chuckling] of all dates! [audience laughter and applause], … We didn’t do it on purpose! Okay, Nick Lowles*?

But when we found out that we were expecting another baby, we couldn’t wait to share it with you all.

 

The community that we’ve built at Patriotic Alternative will be the reason that we succeed. It’s what differentiates us from different organisations. Community building has always been the cornerstone of Patriotic Alternative, and the organisation was purposely set up that way. Because when you’re working alongside people that you have a strong bond with, you can weather any storm that’s thrown at you.

 

You’re not going to run away at the first sign of struggle or pushback. You’re going to confide in your friends who will have your back in return. You’re not going to quit at the first hurdle or indication of failure, whether that’s electoral failure or otherwise. You’re going to re-rally the troops and try again. And you’re not going to believe petty drama and rumours and attempts to undermine us, because, you know, your colleagues better than anybody else.

 

So our strong community is the foundation of Patriotic Alternative. But there’s something else that differentiates us from others as well. We are, and we will always be, 100% unapologetic and uncompromising in our stance!

Now, that might not sound like a bold thing to say in this room, but when you look at the wider sphere of British politics, how many politicians or talking heads can we say are as honest as Mark Collett?

 

[applause]

 

We are entirely honest about what we believe and what we want. Therefore it’s impossible to catch us out! We refuse to answer any question in a defensive manner. Our cause is moral and we don’t owe anybody an explanation. Your misrepresentations are on you, not us.

 

And we do not expect anything to be handed to us. We are entirely committed not simply to taking part in a system that’s set up to leave us ineffective, but to standing on our own feet, to being proudly radical! To following our own path and to securing a future, an existence for our people and a future for White children. Nothing will deter us!

 

Being the largest and most active nationalist organisation in the country often paints a big target on our back. However, being the tenacious bunch that we are, we always bounce back from attacks very quickly, or in the majority of cases, those attacks end up backfiring anyway.

 

Not content with their failed hit piece against us last year where Channel 4 Dispatches attempted to paint us as violent, uneducated thugs! You know, the documentary where they accidentally painted the far-Left as being violent, uneducated thugs, us as down to earth, reasonable people. Sam Melia as a total chad who can take on three Antifa by himself [chuckling], and their own undercover journalist, Elliot Doyle has been very, very serious! That documentary, a documentary that they’ve now removed from YouTube because every single comment was in support of us.

 

Well, this year the media had another shot at attacking us. Last month’s, Patriotic Alternative were upgraded from Channel 4 to the premiere news show in the country. The big boys came after us! We somehow managed to convince the BBC’s flagship news show to create a ten minute advert for us [chuckling]. And once again, we looked great! Mark batted away their allegations with ease and although they originally intended to paint us as extremists and even terrorists, they were left with one very meagre attack on us. Brace yourselves! This might shock a few of you. Mark recommended that people read Mein Kampf. Boohoo! Who cares? I think you should read it too.!

 

My favourite part of that documentary was when the journalist said to a normal lady, just a concerned local who was at an anti-migrant hotel protest:

 

“Do you know, that the leader of this group has sympathies for Adolf Hitler?”

 

To which she responded by saying:

 

“I understand that they always get slurred with ‘far-Right’ and ‘racist’ by groups like Stand Up to Racism, but I’m not sure that that’s the case.”

 

Wow! They really thought that they had the money shot there, and a member of the public just rolled her eyes and moved on. They underestimate the public who do not believe their lies anymore, and they underestimate how much support we have from the public, too.

There was another attempted attack on us this year. This year, in spring, our enemies wrote of a devastating split at Patriotic Alternative. We were finished, apparently. In reality, that was only ever wishful thinking by our enemies, who wanted us to be finished. We responded by keeping our focus and working hard and by holding the largest ever PA camp in July, which featured our biggest ever banner drop, our most successful Indigenous People’s Day celebrations in August. And here we are today, a third up on our last conference numbers, holding the largest ever non-Advertised event in PA’s history!

 

[long applause]

 

I hope those who doubted us feel very silly, but I doubt they have the ability to self reflect. There’s no doubt that we have the right approach in many ways and that we’re doing well in many ways. Our enemies don’t know how to handle us because they see all nationalists as drunken football hooligans who just want to spend their Saturday shouting at Stand Up to Racism and the police.

 

We’re not like that. We’re serious! We’re family men and women. We present ourselves professionally, and we’re smarter than our opposition, too. They have the ability to regurgitate what the BBC or their university lecturers tell them, but they have no ability to think for themselves. Educated, thoughtful, and well presented nationalists is a force that is very scary for them to comprehend. And their underestimation of us plays into our hands.

 

However, and there’s one point that I really want to hammer home in this speech. It’s important that while recognizing our strengths, we do not get comfortable. Patriotic Alternative is four years old now. We’re not a shiny new organisation anymore. It’s still a fun organisation to be part of, but we’re not launching new projects every month like we were at the start. We’re now really getting into the grind of what it means to be a serious political organisation. We need reliability. We need consistency. We need an understanding that this is a long struggle and a long project ahead of us.

 

As much as I’d love it to happen, Mark Collett is probably not going to be Prime Minister next year, unfortunately. But if we remain focused on our project and why we’re doing this, then Britain will return to greater heights and greater glories once more.

 

So why are we doing this? Well, I’d like to ask everybody in the room to consider something for a moment. I think many of us, if not all of us, have got a key event from our life. That maybe it was something that we read about or something that we experienced ourself or something that we saw, and it had a big impact on us. And it cemented in our brains why it’s important that we do what we do. This event could have punched you in the gut. It may have made you feel sick to your stomach. It may have made you angry or sad. Or all of the above.

But it’s an event that stayed with you for a long time, and it reiterates to you again and again why nationalism is important. For me, that event has always been the murder of Lee Rigby. I’m not ashamed to say that when I found out what happened to that poor young man, I cried. I thought about the pain that he went through and the pain that his family went through. I thought about how his brutal murder was completely avoidable, if only we had a ruling class who stood up for our interests!

 

However, in June of this year, another event took place that became the event for me. Annecy*. You’ll all be familiar with what happened there despite the system’s attempts to memory hole it. Six people, including four young children between the ages of 22 months and three years, were injured in a mass stabbing in a children’s playground by a 31 year old Syrian refugee called Abdalmasih Hanoun.

 

[* On 8 June 2023, a 31-year-old Syrian man injured two adults and four young children in Le Pâquier city park, Annecy, Haute-Savoie, France, in a mass stabbing attack.]

 

To clarify, a refugee walked into a children’s playground with a knife and tried to murder babies and young children by stabbing them to death in front of their mothers. I couldn’t get it out of my head for weeks. I replayed the scenario through in my mind a million times. What would I do if I was in the park with my daughter? Would I be able to save her? What if I froze with shock? I thought about every possible situation and how I would respond to it. What if I had the brake on the pram? What if my daughter was strapped in? What if I was facing the attacker? What if I wasn’t?

 

I googled “legal self defense weapons” and learnt that there aren’t any. I know that many other mothers and fathers in Patriotic Alternative feel the same way. We spoke about it quite a lot, and the vital, urgent and nonnegotiable desire that we have to keep our children safe. I spoke to aunts and uncles that were worried about their nieces and their nephews and grandparents who were worried about their grandchildren, and many more people who were just simply worried for their kin and their people and their race.

 

If we don’t succeed, if we continue down this path of open borders of nobody daring to even speak out, never mind do something about it, if we continue down this path of apologizing and tiptoeing around the issues of putting our people first, then Annecy will happen again! I’m not willing to risk that. And I know that you’re not either.

A good nationalist isn’t driven by hate. He is driven by love. Anger is a normal reaction to suffering, but it’s a love that we have for our people that makes us feel that way in the first place. A good nationalist also doesn’t do this for attention, or ego, or popularity, or money, or fame, or any of these trivial things. Even for somebody who may enjoy those things, they are inconsequential in the long run. The greater good will always come before individual gain.

 

We do this because we love our people and we want to keep them safe! We do this because we know the British are a people worth saving. We do this for Lee Rigby. For Lucy Lowe. For Emily Jones. For Chris Donald. For Ross Parker. For Aaron Dugmore. For Richard Everett. For P. C. Keith Blakelock. I could stand here and list you a thousand names.

 

We do it for the hundreds, if not thousands, of British people who would still be alive today if their lives were worth more than the need for so-called tolerance and diversity and the need for our deliberate demographic replacement!

 

We do this and we speak out even when their own families don’t. And we make no apologies for this, because they do not get to control the narrative when other people are worried about their children being next. We do this for the continuation and the legacy of the British. A proud and mighty people! Who, through sacrifice, intellect, strength and spirit, conquered the world, the skies, the seas, and who have offered the world the highest calibre of inventions, technology, healthcare, education, transport and culture ever known to man!

 

And we do this for our children. For Catherine Melia, for Sophia Collett, for all the babies and the children who are with us today, and the children and future children of all of our people. This is not a game! We simply cannot afford to lose.!

So I reached my conclusion. And Sam always tells me off for saying that. I’m at my conclusion, [chuckling] but I’m going to say it!

 

There’s been a debate that’s been happening in British politics over the last couple of weeks. It’s a debate that’s been going on for a lot longer than that, but it’s been a hot topic over the last couple of weeks on political talk shows. It’s been trending on social media.

 

And that debate is whether Britain is a good place to live for black people. One side will argue:

 

“No, Britain is not a good place to live for black people. They are oppressed. They face racism every day!”

 

And the other side, presenting what is bestowed to us as the only other option in this debate, will say:

 

“You’re wrong! Britain is a good place to live for black people!”

 

And that’s the side that patriots are supposed to pick. A based black presenter on GB News is wheeled out to speak for us. It’s taken as granted that our demographic replacement is well and truly underway, and there’s nothing that we can do about it. But we should be thankful. We should be thankful that we’re making Britain a safe and welcoming country for people who we never even wanted to be here in the first place! We should be thankful because it absolves us of the sin of so-called “racism”. And there’s nothing worse than that!

Patriotic Alternative will not choose one of those two sides in this debate! Our answer is different. Is Britain a good place to live for black people? Our answer is, we don’t care! It’s time that we stopped debating whether Britain is a good place to live for black people, and we started discussing whether Britain is a good place to live for British people!

 

[applause]

 

Defiant, bold and devoted to our cause, we have made a great start as an organisation, and if we remain committed to the task at hand and continue to conduct ourselves in the way that we have done, I am confident that Patriotic Alternative will succeed.

 

Some of the best activists and figureheads, not just in nationalism, but in politics as a whole, sit in this room. Nobody in this country debates like Mark Collett, who makes people rage quit! Nobody nurtures, encourages, educates and develops people like Steve Blake. There’s not a single nationalist in this country who just gets things done like Joe Marsh. And he’s pretty handy with a felt tip pen as well. [chuckling] And nobody throws up a scaffolding stage by himself in the middle of a hundred Reds and shouts down a megaphone like Sam Melia.

 

We are setting the standard! We’re known and respected not only within Britain as a serious and dynamic organisation, but we’re recognised on a global scale as well. To quote, Hope Not Hate in their State of Hate 2023 report:

 

“PA continues to hold regional activities at a frequency unmatched among the UK far-Right!”

 

To get things right sometimes.

 

[applause]

 

And our work ethic and reputation has allowed us to form partnerships and relationships not only with various patriotic groups within our borders, but also with the premier nationalist organisations in other countries, such as the NJP [National Justice Party] in the States, and the Nordic Resistance Movement in the Nordic countries.

 

In four short years, we’ve taken the online movement and turned it into the defining force of British nationalism. Being a Patriotic Alternative activist is something to be proud of! We hold ourselves to high standards and those outside our organisation, whether friend or enemy. They know that if PA is involved, they’re in for a show.

 

This year we learnt that the Home Office are so worried about us that they’ve been speaking to the Electoral Commission in order to stop us becoming a political party. And, you know what? They are right to be worried about us. They should be scared!

 

I’m going to finish today not with a quote from a politician of the past, like I often do. I’m going to finish with a quote from a politician of the future. I’m going to finish with a quote from Mark Collett, spoken at this year’s Cannock demonstration. The Home Office are right to be scared of us because, as Mark says:

 

“They are not going to replace us. We are going to replace them!”

Victoria Derbyshire: Tonight, an investigation by BBC News Night has found that groups described as far-Right have organised or attended 50 protests since the start of the year. Mostly focused on hotel accommodation for asylum seekers. The groups who operate across the country have been accused of infiltrating legitimate community organised protests in a bid to spread what has been described as their “extreme ideology”.

 

Their members include individuals who’ve engaged in openly racist behaviour and who’ve expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler.

 

Just to warn you, the following film contains some extremely offensive content. Yasminara Khan reports on the protest.

 

Yasminara Khan: These are just some of the protests that have taken place in 2023.

 

[Woman shouting “Nazi!”]

 

Small boats, asylum seekers and migrants have become a political battleground and an issue for communities across the country.

 

Mark Collett: (at protest meeting) They are not refugees! They are illegal immigrants!

 

Welsh woman: Why are these people who are illegal, they have no documentation, why are they given a star hotel?

 

Yasminara Khan: Here in LLanelli [Wales], people have been protesting about plans for asylum seekers to be placed in a four star hotel. They say it’s important to the local economy.

 

But this situation has given leverage to groups described as far-Right who are taking advantage of the tensions and infiltrating community organised protests.

 

One of them is Patriotic Alternative, a group run by Mark Collett, a forming leader member of the British National Party who’s expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler and recommends Mein Kampf to his supporters.

 

Matt Collins is a former member of far-Right groups, who now works for Hope Not Hate, a group that campaigns against them.

 

Matt Collins: These people are quite skilled at getting into communities and causing trouble and stirring things up. Patriotic Alternative are incredibly active! They’re not a particularly large organisation, but they’re incredibly active and incredibly dedicated!

 

Laura Towler: (at protest meeting) I’d say there’s maybe around 400 people here today. These protests are getting bigger and bigger! [audience cheers]

 

Yasminara Khan: The group’s ideology is based around the far-Right conspiracy theory of White genocide. A rhetoric that falsely claims there is a covert plan to replace White populations with ethnically diverse communities.

 

On their ideology, Patriotic Alternative told us:

 

“The plan to replace White Britain’s is not a ‘covert’ plan, as you falsely claim, but an overt attempt to reduce the indigenous people of these islands to a minority in their own ancestral homeland.”

 

Neil Basu: (Non-Executive Director, College of Policing) We’ve talked about some of them, the Great Replacement theory, White supremacism, Neo-Nazism. That is what I would describe as unlawful terrorist activity that would put them right in the cross hairs of MI5 counter-terrorism policing.

 

Yasminara Khan: The town of Furnace has attracted attention from groups described as far-Right from outside the area. But there are groups getting involved in local protests closer to home in the form of Voice of Wales, who describe themselves as investigative journalists and travel the UK to conduct interviews.

 

Dan Morgan: Well, look, it makes you question absolutely, …

Yasminara Khan: One Voice of Wales member has a strong history of affiliation to other hard-Right groups. And another, James Harvey from The Voice of Wales student wing, is seen questioning the Holocaust. What you’re about to hear is extremely offensive!

 

James Harvey: You look into Hitler and you look into what the Nazi Party did, and I’m not defending them at all. But 6 million jews weren’t killed. And the reason I say that is because if you look at the concentration camps, most of them weren’t equipped with gas chambers.

Dan Morgan: Apparently it was done, but apparently it wasn’t used.

 

Now, I don’t know much about that, but, …

 

James Harvey: I’m thinking it’s not Somalian enough, really, is it, for Cardiff? That’s what they want. They want the Somalian anthem. [making gorilla like gestures]

 

Dan Morgan: What is their anthem? No, I wouldn’t even do, …

 

Yasminara Khan: Voice of Wales said the comments made by Mr Harvey have:

 

“Been taken out of context.”

 

He has since clarified his position:

 

“He fully believes that the genocide and horrific mass murder of millions of people, jews and others, took place during World War 2.”

 

The group failed to explain the comments and hand gestures used when discussing Somalis.

 

Patriotic Alternative and Voice of Wales are different groups with different members, goals and beliefs.

 

But both groups travel around the country in a bid to spread their message.

 

For the first time, we’ve been able to track the movements of these two groups, finding out where they are protesting and which places they repeatedly return to.

 

Analysis by BBC Verify and News Night shows they cumulatively organised or attended 50 protests since the start of the year, with the vast majority focusing on accommodation for asylum seekers.

They’ve been all over the UK, including Scotland, but favour some areas with multiple visits to the same location, like Long Eaton and Haydock.

 

You might remember the Knowsley demonstration, which quickly descended into violence, resulting in a police van being set on fire.

 

And here you can see The Voice of Wales protests in blue. The majority in Wales, but some have spilled over the border into England, like in Portland, Manchester and Scampton.

 

And like Patriotic Alternative, they returned to the same sites multiple times with their key focus on Swansea and LLanelli.

 

Tim Loughton MP: (Conservative, East Worthing and Shoreham) I think there are two things here. People have a genuine concern about large quantities of people coming into areas for the pressure that they’re putting on local services; the schools, the doctors and everything else. Whether they are people coming from abroad or big developments, mean huge pressure on local services. Those are legitimate concerns.

 

What we’re seeing here, though, are people who have no local interests. They’re just anti-immigrant, they’re racists! And they want to take advantage of people who have got genuine local concerns in order to push their own racist agendas.

Neil Basu: The idea that they would be using a local protest who might have legitimate concerns about immigration, if that balanced debate is hijacked by people who start talking about “invasion” and start talking about these people being dangerous, that’s an extremist conversation! It drives a polarised debate.

 

It means people from the extreme Right-wing get very heated, which means people protesting against them from the extreme Left get very heated. And then you’re going to see violence, and then you’re going to see a problem for law and order.

 

Yasminara Khan: The Bibby Stockholm is moored in Dorset. It’s currently empty. Performs part of efforts by the Home Office to reduce the 8 million pound daily bill to taxpayers by moving asylum seekers out of hotels and into alternative accommodation.

 

It’s caused unease amongst locals, and has been jumped on by both Patriotic Alternative and The Voice of Wales.

 

Voice of Wales: The reason why Voice of Wales is here is because this affects everybody! Everybody in the United Kingdom! The tap needs turning off!

 

Yasminara Khan: Unlike Voice of Wales, Patriotic Alternative organises protests such as this one here in Portland. It was a small group and it had a low turnout. One of them was Michelle Vardy, a concerned local, who we also found had been posting in anti-asylum Facebook groups.

 

Michelle Vardy: This is a poor area and a lot of people, they can’t even afford to feed their children three meals a day on school holidays, yet they’ve seen a barge coming in, and our government is paying for three meals a day for them.

 

Yasminara Khan: And would it worry you if you knew that the leader of that group has sympathies towards Adolf Hitler, for example?

 

Michelle Vardy: If that’s the case, … Um, yeah. But I also understand that a lot of these groups that are against all the illegal immigrants coming here. They always get slurred with far-Right and racist tendencies from other groups, like Stand Up to Racism, when I’m not sure that’s the case.

 

Yasminara Khan: Michelle told us she engages with both Left and Right-wing groups on Facebook.

 

Two hundred and fifty miles north in Wigan, (Greater Manchester) another demonstration took place.

 

Maureen O’Bren is a local independent councilor in Wigan. After listening to the concerns of constituents, she organised a small protest against the plans for residents. But it was infiltrated by Patriotic Alternative.

 

Maureen O’Bren: It was [word unclear] about two to 300 people came, very genuinely concerned people who live locally and they think it’s very unfair that the main hotel that they use for weddings – there’s a lot of people employed here – are just losing that without consultation.

 

Yasminara Khan: At that protest, a group called Patriotic Alternative came down. Did, you know, about that?

 

Maureen O’Bren: I put a post on Facebook stating no one from the far-Right, far-Left, any organisations like that were welcome. It was purely for genuinely concerned residents of Wigan and Standish.

 

I think a few did turn up from Patriotic Alternative. I’d never heard of them. I didn’t know who they were. I don’t want somebody coming with their agenda and using my protest. Not just mine obviously, the people who are against, … Genuine protests, very genuine, kind people who are welcoming. We don’t want to be tarred with the same brush as those who are maybe there for other reasons, pushing their own agenda. We don’t want that.

 

Maureen O’Bren: Patriotic Alternative say they’ve been welcomed by communities all over the UK.

 

Tim Loughton MP: There is a very different agenda by some of these racist groups where they’re talking about:

 

“No more migrants! We’re full!”

 

Talking about:

 

“White genocide.”

 

They’re really trying to whip up fears, complete illegitimate fears amongst reasonable and moderate people. Those are the people we absolutely need to guard against!

 

Yasminara Khan: As thousands continue to cross the channel in small boats and the urgent need to house asylum seekers persist, this is an issue that will continue to ignite communities and in turn gives far-Right groups fertile ground to exploit existing tensions in a bid to spread their ideology.
