Mark Collett: Good evening, everybody, and welcome to tonight’s rather somber stream. I’m here with the lovely Laura Towler. And this is one amazing woman. This is one amazing woman. And I’ve got some stuff I’m going to say about her later because I spent a large portion of the day with her. I drove her back home, and she’s still smiling, she’s still defiant.

 

And I’ve got to say, I don’t know how I would deal with this situation if I was Laura, but I don’t think I could fathom any way in which I could deal with it more professionally and with more dignity than she has. And we’ll talk a bit about that. We’re going to run you through. Obviously, you’re live now, and we’re live on Odysee. We’re live on Dlive, and we’re live on Rumble. And we’re live on Entropy.

 

Now, obviously, if one of the streams goes down, you can check another one. Please share it, because this is one of the most important streams we’ll probably ever do. We’re talking about one of the greatest miscarriages of justice to ever before anyone in this country. It’s a horrendous case, and I’ve laid out to you in great detail about this case.

 

So that’s what we’re going to be going over today. We’ll briefly recap on how we got here, and then we’ll go through exactly what happened in court today and how you can help Sam and Laura and what we’ll be doing moving forward.

Now, obviously, this isn’t a joyous stream. This isn’t a stream where we’re all cheering. This isn’t a stream where we feel in any way victorious. For me personally, today was an absolutely gutting day. And seeing Sam be led away heartbreaking because he’s genuinely one of the nicest, kindest, most decent, big hearted people I’ve ever met in my, you know, no one deserves this.

But I will say this before we get into the stream, and I’m going to pass it straight over to Laura when I’ve said this, I want to thank everyone who has come out in support of Sam over the last few hours. And we’ve seen loads of people, the guys at UNN, we’ve seen David Curtin, the GB News people have been, even they’ve said:

 

“This is ridiculous! This is insane that he’s been sent to jail for this!”

 

There seems to be an absolute outcry all over any sort of right of centre news outlet. I haven’t seen anyone attacking Sam either, which is a good thing. And if I do, I’d be disgusted! But everyone seems to be behind him and genuinely outraged at what’s happened.

 

And so they should be, because, as I said, this is one of the greatest miscarriages of justice this country’s ever seen!

 

Laura, hello. You’ve been amazing today. Obviously, I’ve been with you since this morning. We spent some time together this afternoon and we’ve spoken since then. But you’ve just been a pillar of strength through this. And I can’t believe you’re still smiling. You’re still here and you’re still a pillar of strength for everyone in this community. I mean, really, you are now a heavily pregnant mother of one, looking after your elderly grandma, looking after a toddler and a baby on the way in April, doing it all on your own. And amazingly, you’re still sat here looking wonderful and smiling! How do you do it?

 

Laura Towler: Well, [chuckling] first of all, sorry about the background and stuff. Usually Sam watches Catherine when I do the monthly update, but obviously he’s not here now. So Catherine’s sort of lying next to me watching some cartoons, and hopefully she’ll stay quite relaxed while we do this stream.

 

I think I’m still in shock! I haven’t really processed it. I feel angry and I’m still coming to terms with what happened because when the judge gave his sentencing remarks, he said lots of things which I know not to be true.

 

So he said things like:

 

“Sam had this campaign of hate and it was his intention to cause problems, potential offence to all these minority groups.”

 

And that isn’t Sam at all! Sam is driven by love and everything that he does is defensive. It’s highlighting bad things that are happening to us and then saying:

 

“We need to stop this so that we can be safe and we can be a prosperous people.”

 

So just to hear outright lies said about your husband when you know that they’re not true because you know him, you know what drives him and what his intentions were. It’s frustrating! I think it would have been easier to accept if Sam had, I don’t know, drink driving or stabbed someone or had burgled someone’s house or something, because then it would be like:

 

“Okay, you’ve done something, accept the punishment and we’ll move past it.”

 

But knowing that he is an innocent man, I think that’s the hardest thing to grasp about it.

So just to clarify, if anyone has been living under a rock over the last few hours, he’s been sentenced to two years in custody.

 

Now, the judge could have suspended that, but the judge said that he wanted it to be a deterrent to other people who have the same political beliefs as Sam.

 

So basically:

 

“I could let you go, but I want to send a message for other people not to do what you’ve done.”

 

Someone buying some tea [phone call]. He also said when you get involved in the kind of activity that Sam was involved in:

 

“You undermine the government’s attempts to stop immigration.”

 

The government’s attempts that don’t exist!

 

So he will serve at the most, twelve months in prison.

 

However, likely, if he keeps his head down and behaves himself, he will probably serve about eight months. And because he’s a nonviolent offender and he’s like the lowest category of his crime, he could be sent to a Category D prison, which will mean that he actually gets day release and like a key to his cell and everything. And he gets to come out through the day.

 

So hopefully that will happen. But we’ll see. Either way, when he got sent down, you can actually see the “fish bowl”, you know, where Sam sits, like behind this glass thing. But I stood up and made sure that I gave him eye contact before he got sent down. And he was fine. He wasn’t crying or he didn’t look distraught or anything. He looked strong and he mouthed, “I love you” to me. And I mouthed it back to him and then they took him down.

 

So I’m going to leave my phone on loud. I do apologise if it beeps, but I did say to him, can you phone me as soon as you can? And he’s wrote my phone number down. So I’m hoping that he will be able to phone me tonight, but if not, he’ll phone me tomorrow. And I’ll let you all know what’s going on. And obviously, as soon as we can send letters to him and that kind of thing, we’ll do that.

 

But, yeah, I just want to say thank you to everyone who supported us, not just today, because the court was actually packed of PA activists today. There wasn’t an empty seat.

 

But over the last three years. Sam was originally arrested for three things by Counter Terrorism three years ago, and they immediately dropped the terror things and just stuck with the stickers.

 

And then they didn’t charge for the stickers for two years because they were never really interested in the stickers.

 

And then they obviously just thought:

 

“We’ll give it a go.”

 

And the jury decided to say that Sam was guilty. So, speaking to Sam’s barrister today, he said:

 

“You were just so unlucky with that jury.”

 

He said:

 

“Four times out of five you would have got either a hung jury or not guilty, and you were just unlucky. You got the 20% likelihood of getting guilty.”

So all we can do is deal with it with dignity, and we can also do everything that we can to push back against it. We are looking at if there are any grounds to appeal the conviction. With regards to appealing the sentence, it takes about six months to get that started anyway, and Sam will be out in around maybe eight months, hopefully.

 

So I’ll speak to Sam and see if he wants to appeal the sentence, but ultimately that will be his decision. And we are looking at fighting back against the police anyway for wrongful arrest in the first place. I mean, you arrested him for three things, immediately dropped two when he got into the police station. What’s going on there? Did you have to have those two so that you could raid our home? It’s dodgy. So we are looking at fighting back, anyway.

 

I’ve just rambled on for ten minutes, so I’ll shut up now and pass it back to Mark.

 

Mark Collett: We have kind of thrown the schedule, …

 

Laura Towler: We’ve covered everything! [chuckling]

 

Mark Collett: If anyone’s got a right to go on one today, my dear, it’s you.

 

And before we go into some of the things that we want to discuss, I want to say this. When we came out of court, it was absolutely pelting it down with rain and PATV [Patriotic Alternative Television] were there. We had a film crew ready to record whatever was happening.

 

And I believe they recorded Sam going in with his final thoughts. So we are actually putting together a lovely video of me, Sam, Laura, talking, and Sam giving his thoughts before he goes down.

 

And when we came out, all the PA activists, and there were so many PA activists there, we actually filled the court so completely! So completely that they let us sit in the press section because there just weren’t any free spaces left in the actual public gallery.

 

So there was so much support for Sam. It was really heartening!

 

But not only that, when the case had concluded and we were going out, I walked down with Laura, and obviously Laura was walking down without Sam because Sam had been found guilty and Sam had know taken down. And that must have been awful for her. And we were at the back of everyone and we were talking because the PATV guys were like:

 

“Look, you guys come out last and walk down the stairs and we’ll film you. And then when it comes down to it, you guys say what you want.”

And usually when this happens, Laura always says:

 

“Look, Mark, you go first, you go first.”

 

And she likes it if I sort, know, go through things. And then she comments. And on this occasion, she was like:

 

“I want to go first today!”

 

And I was like:

 

“Good! This yours and Sam’s day, you do this.”

 

And Laura came out and she stood there in the pouring rain, … And I’ve got to say this, she gave one of the most moving sort of orations you could have in that situation. She didn’t crack, she didn’t well up, but she told people fairly and honestly what tyranny we live under!

 

And I hope when that video comes out, people will crop Laura speaking out of there and put it up all over Twitter! Because Twitter, … Absolute! Elon Musk’s Twitter is an absolute joke! We are the most persecuted people in Britain and he won’t let us on there. Absolutely ridiculous!

 

And let’s face it, when you’ve got people being jailed for putting up stickers and the so-called “free speech” bunch won’t let you talk about it, there’s a problem.

 

But Laura, there’s a lot to unpack from today.

 

Now, let’s go through things. You’ve given people an overview.

 

Now, I was quite hopeful before we went to court, because the judge seemed to be very even handed during the case, and he seemed to be sort of shocked to some degree when Sam was found guilty. And now a judge has in his powers a range of different options. And one of those options which the judge can explore at his discretion, is not immediately sentencing a defendant. The judge can say:

 

“I’m letting the defendant go free. The defendant will go free for another month. And in that time, I would like a pre-sentence report.”

 

And that pre-sentence report gives somebody who’s been found guilty a chance to speak to a probation officer who will note down everything that that person says, does a full analysis of them, and then gives their recommendations to the judge. And these aren’t just random recommendations. This isn’t somebody just writing to the judge urging them to make a decision. The judge is actually asked for this report to be professionally prepared so that he can take into account the probation officer’s recommendation for sentencing.

 

Now Laura, Sam worked with that probation officer for a number of days. I think it was a full day, but then had several calls and follow ups.

 

Now, obviously, you can go through this. Can you let everybody know what Sam went through with the probation officer?

 

And also, most crucially, what the probation officer recommended as a punishment for Sam.

 

Laura Towler: Yeah. So the probation officer is supposed to be an unbiased person, so she’s not part of the prosecution, and she’s also not part of the defense, but she puts forward a recommendation that then needs to be accepted by CPS [Crown Prosecution Service]. And she basically worked with Sam going over all his reasons for why he got involved with politics, went through his family situation and his work situation, and it’s her job to basically assess whether he’s a risk or not.

And she came back with the conclusion that Sam is no risk to the public at all, and that his likelihood of re-offending over the next few years is completely minimal because Sam is 34 years old and he has previous good character, so he has no criminal record at all! She did recommend that he is very sort of, like, adamant of his beliefs.

 

So one of the things that she recommended as a solution was for him to have a number of sessions where he would speak about his beliefs and be challenged on his beliefs. And she asked Sam if he would be okay with that, and he was like:

 

“Please challenge me. I’m more than happy to do that!”

 

But, yeah, I want to read you out what her recommendation was, which, obviously the judge completely ignored.

 

So here we go:

 

“Mr. Melia’s offending behaviour can be monitored by probation using GPS trail monitoring, and there are no barriers as to utilising electronic monitoring.”

 

So she’s basically saying there that she recommends he has a tag on:

 

“The behaviour itself could be punished by the imposition of unpaid work. Mr. Melia’s activities are, in part, motivated by a desire to improve his community, and therefore, I expect he would approach unpaid work with a sense of duty, care, and responsibility.”

 

So she’s recommending community service.

 

“In discussion Mr. Melia gave consent to engaging with probation and our partners in the Joint Extremism Unit to address the underlying motivations, thoughts, and feelings associated with his offending and with his agreement, the probation service, supported by the Counter-Terrorism Specialist Probation practitioner, could provide structured intervention to reflect on the risks taken when publishing or airing his views online or in public. If the court finds favour with this suggestion, my proposal would be a two year community order, or equivalent, during which Mr. Melia’s activities would be monitored by GPS and he would be required to complete a number of hours of unpaid work. The court considers commensurate with the seriousness of the offence, plus 25 rehabilitation activity requirements.”

 

So she’s recommended community service, a tag and, 205 sessions where he’ll be challenged on his views.

 

And then the judge just ignored it all and sent him to prison.

 

But that’s supposed to be an unbiased person who has assessed the likelihood of risk and re-offending from Sam. And she basically assessed that he was no risk.

Mark Collett: You see, the interesting thing about this, and I want to make this clear. I want to make this very clear! The judge gets a recommendation from the probation officer and the judge doesn’t have to follow it. It’s just a recommendation. He gets a report with a recommendation, but it’s not unsolicited advice. The judge asked for that.

 

The judge said he did not want to sentence Sam until he had read a probation officer’s report so that he could consider that for sentencing. And the judge had also intimated that during the case, he didn’t seem to think this offence was the be all and end all, the end of the world, which made it very interesting when it came to the actual sentencing. Because he was very harsh and seemed to be very different during sentencing to what he was during the trial.

 

Now, there was a couple of things that stuck out to me.

 

Now, the first thing was the use of the word “deterrent”. At one point, the judge said that he would be mindful of basically giving a suspended sentence and it was within his power to do. So but it seemed to me as if he was saying, and I’d have to go back and read the actual sentencing because I don’t have sort of a, … I’ve not got like some photographic memory where I can just play it back like a robot.

 

But I believe the judge said something like, the Crown basically urges for custodial sentences in this case to act as a deterrent.

 

So what this was about, it wasn’t about punishing Sam, it wasn’t about Sam being a criminal, because he’s not. It was about scaring the crap out of normal people! And normal people are going to be scared about this. Normal people who’ve got a stake in life, who’ve got a normie job, who’ve got a family, they are going to be terrified that if they use normal statements like White Lives Matter, Immigration has Become an Invasion – some of the things on those stickers were things that Conservative Party ministers have said, but people will be terrified!

 

And the first thing I’m going to say to you, Laura. I felt today that Sam was made an example of, not because of the “heinous” nature of his crime, but because the government intends to terrify every last one of us! So that people all over the country sit down, bury their head in TVs, takeaway, football, gambling, video games, comics, and don’t dare speak out against mass immigration. Is that what you read from the judge’s summation? Because this didn’t seem like punishment. This seemed like scare tactics.

 

Laura Towler: Yeah, it was interesting because obviously, if you read the articles about it when he was found guilty, the judge said to Sam:

 

“Work very closely with your probation officer and don’t give me a reason to send you to prison.”

 

So the probation officer came back saying:

 

“Yeah, don’t send him to prison.”

 

But then the judge was like:

 

“I’m going to give you two years because it’s the bottom of the two to six year category. And I could suspend it, but I’m not going to suspend it because we need to give a deterrent.”

 

And it was just like, what?

 

But it was interesting because a lot of what he said during the sentencing remarks at the end were not really things that came up during the trial.

So I just want to read out something that he said. He said:

 

“For the first time since the 1930s, a real risk of gross, potentially violent anti-semitism is becoming normalised on our streets.”

 

And it was like, well, Sam’s trial wasn’t really about anti-semitism. It was more about demographics and grooming gangs.

 

So it’s like, … We were supposed to be in at 10:00 this morning, and last night, late on, we heard that it had been moved back an hour and a half. And I don’t know why that happened because the judge had said that he was free and the prosecutor and the defense said that they were free.

 

And then all of a sudden something happened and it got moved back.

 

And then the judge just seemed to be really different and talking about anti-semitism and deterrent. And I don’t know what happened. We can only speculate, just like we can only speculate what happened with the jury. But I just think our response needs to be to this:

 

“Don’t let it be a deterrent. Let it be the absolute opposite!”

 

So if they’re trying to stop people from being nationalists, be a nationalist! Be a public nationalist! What’s the saying about cutting one head off and ten more come up in its spot? That’s what we need to do.

 

Mark Collett: You mean like the Hydra? When they chop the head off the Hydra, two more grow back.

 

Laura Towler: Yeah. Anyone who’s saying like:

 

“Oh, whatsoever, people can get into trouble, like Sam!”

 

Look, Sam was arrested for something that predates Patriotic Alternative; stickers. We don’t do stickers at Patriotic Alternative.

 

Some of the things that were on his stickers we might word a little bit differently now because we know that they can be misinterpreted. And we have three people associated with Patriotic Alternative who were in prison. Sam, Sven [Longshanks] and James Costello. None of them are in prison for anything to do with Patriotic Alternative. It’s all stuff from before. And Patriotic Alternative and our activities were not brought up during the trial. Nothing! Not a single thing! Not a single line from a stream, or a demo, or a leaflet or anything, because they have nothing on us!

 

So this is an indication to me that we’re doing the right thing and they don’t have any material to attack us on. So that note that we’ve just made about a deterrent, don’t let it be a deterrent, let it be a reason that you get involved. And let’s show them that they’ve made the wrong decision.

 

They’re going to make a Martyr out of Sam. I’ve already seen that we’ve got a ton of interest at Patriotic Alternative. I’ve got a busy week next week processing everything. Let’s prove to them that they’ve done the wrong thing and they’ve made the wrong decision and it’s only going to impact them in a negative way and us in a positive way.

Mark Collett: Well, I agree. And there’s something else. I want to move on to this. The judge made a bizarre statement that I stayed very quiet throughout all this. But there was at one point where you just sort of let out a gasp of just complete dismay! And it was when the judge said that:

 

“People like Sam that use words and terminology like Sam did actually prevent the Conservatives who care about stopping immigration from getting the job done and basically stopping immigration.”

 

Now, I’ve never heard such nonsense in my life! And that almost seemed as if it was like a prepared political statement, because I read somewhere yesterday that the Conservatives have actually increased the amount of visas they’ve given and it was 1.2 million last time it was recorded, now it’s 1.4 million. So 1.2 million resulted in they’re claiming 1.47 5 million people actually arriving. So what’s 1.4 million? Is that going to be 1.8 million people actually came? The Tories are doing this.

 

And it very much seemed to me that the judge was labouring the point that basically, if you do things like this, if you’re guilty of “wrongthink” – and that’s what Sam was guilty of – the judge, the Crown Prosecution Service, everyone in the court, the police, acknowledged that the wording on the stickers was lawful, that the truth was no defense, because the stickers were also truthful.

 

And finally, they acknowledged that no crimes had been committed as a result of those leaflets.

 

Now, that’s incredible! And what message did they tack onto that? Well, basically that Sam was guilty not of doing anything that was unlawful, but that his motivation in doing certain lawful things was “hate filled”!

 

So basically that’s a thought crime. He was thinking “hate filled things” when he was doing something lawful.

 

But this isn’t something new, and I’m not taking anything away from Sam, but Sam’s not the only person who’s know a victim of this. A while back, and you can Google, if somebody could Google it now and send me the link. There was an old lady who was actually arrested and dragged into a police station because she beeped her car horn at a black man. And the police arrested her and said:

 

“Oh, no, this isn’t a crime, it’s a non-crime hate incident, because beeping your car horn isn’t criminal. But we believed that you beeped your car horn at that man because you were motivated by hate. You did it because he was black!”

 

This is actually a real thing that really happened. So now you can do something lawful, whether it’s put up lawful stickers, beat your car horn at somebody, and you can be arrested for this.

 

And this is happening more and more.

So we’re moving into the territory of “Thought Crime”. And this judge wanted to send a message. And the message was, number one:

 

“If you do something like this, you’re going to be punished. So keep your head down!”

 

And number two:

 

“Politics is for the elite! The Tories are politicians, Labour are politicians. If they want to reduce immigration, they can get on with it! It’s their choice. But you naughty boy, you self employed sign fitter, don’t think you’re getting involved in politics, boyo! Because if you print some stickers, you’re getting in the way of the elite, deciding whether more immigrants or fewer immigrants should come to Britain!”

 

This to me is an absolutely insane message! It basically tells normal people:

 

“Don’t have the wrong opinions. And if you are thinking something and you’re thinking of doing something about something you’re passionate with, or passionate about, be careful because you’re stepping on the politician’s toes and the state won’t allow that!”

 

And I’m going to just go off on a minor, minor tangent today.

 

George Galloway got elected yesterday or in the early hours of this morning. He was elected yesterday, but he found out about it in the early hours of this morning.

 

Now, whether you like or whether you loathe George Galloway is not the point. That’s not the point I’m making. I’m not asking you to love him, not asking you to loathe him. People might like him, people might not. But he’s an anti-establishment candidate.

 

And since he’s got elected, you’ve got the same narrative that the judge was peddling about. Sam, all these mainstream politicians are coming out:

 

“Oh, this is dangerous! This is dangerous! This man got elected. This man who’s not part of the club and did politics is a threat to our democracy!”

 

Well, no, people like George Galloway, people like Sam, they are being attacked in different ways because they’re not part of the club.

 

And what the precedent seems to be at the moment is if you’re not part of the club and you have the wrong thoughts and you want to be involved in politics, you’ve got to be punished!

 

And this is happening across the political spectrum. It’s happening to people who are pro-Palestine, it’s happening to people who are anti-immigration. It’s happening to people who want to challenge the political oligarchy. And this case with Sam is one of the biggest, most newsworthy and one of the most egregious cases of this happening.

 

And Laura, you said quite eloquently on the steps of that courthouse today that despite the fact that they want us out of politics, we’re going nowhere!

 

Laura Towler: Yeah, absolutely!

 

I mean, I’m more determined than ever.

 

The fact that they’ve done this to Sam is a reminder why we do what we do, because all Sam does is advocate for his people in a peaceful way None of those stickers advocated for violence. None of the stickers even used racial slurs. I think the worst sticker, according to people was something where it said, like “Second generation, third generation, you have to go back.” Now that was a sticker that came out after all the terror attacks that happened in 2017 where people were saying:

 

“Well, actually, that terrorist was born here. He’s British, so he has to stay.”

 

And it was created to get a conversation going about it doesn’t matter if you’re born here, some people shouldn’t be here. It doesn’t say you all have to go back. But none of the stickers were bad.

 

So what they did with Sam was create this profile of him based on some really stupid things.

And one thing I want to say, which I think is quite proactive and will hopefully be helpful to people, is that if you’re involved in politics, you have to be so careful with what you have in your house. Even things that you know are not serious, you have to be so careful.

 

I mean, Sam and his friends rented a garage that was on another street. Not even our garage, not even covered by the warrants. So I don’t know why they went in there. And in there there was a funny picture of Hitler. Not even a serious picture, not a shrine! A funny picture of Hitler that the judge has seen and the jury has seen. And that was brought up in the sentencing remarks today:

 

“You had a picture of Hitler in your garage!”

 

It was a funny picture of Hitler. Like, if you are involved in politics, please just clear your house, because they’re going to misrepresent you. We shouldn’t have to, but it’s a choice you make. If you’re going to stand up and do this job, if you’re going to be an activist, if you’re going to pick up the megaphone, if you’re going to go out leafleting, just don’t give them anything that they can use to misrepresent you.

 

Another thing as well was they said in the sentencing remarks that Sam had an obsession with Oswald Mosley. Sam’s not interested in Oswald Mosley! I don’t think he’s read a single book by him. I’m interested in Oswald Mosley, [chuckling] but because I had a book on my bedside table that I was currently reading, that means you’re a fascist and you’re an anti-semitic.

 

Now, I’m not saying get rid of your books, but I have all of Oswald Mosley’s books on my bookshelf. But they only mentioned the one that was on the bedside table for some reason.

 

So I’m not sure if they only mentioned that one, because it’s like you’re clearly reading that because it’s out. Maybe just keep your books on the bookshelf. That’s what I’d recommend about that.

 

And then another thing as know I’m not offended by it, but just don’t use racial slurs, even if it’s in private messages. Because another thing that was mentioned during the sentencing remarks today was that out of tens of thousands of private messages going back for five years, Sam used a racial slur four times! And none of them were said to somebody of another race.

So I’ll give you an example of those racial slurs. The P word, P-A-K-I. Somebody had said something about a Pakistani guy driving and hitting somebody and it being on purpose. And Sam responded saying:

“No, that’s just P drivers.”

 

That was one of the examples of racial slurs. Nothing offensive or nothing hateful, just using that word.

 

Another one was Sam called a White person the n-word, in a humourous manner.

 

So that’s another example of him using a racial slur. So you just have to be so careful! Just don’t give them anything that they can extract and misrepresent and use to say that you’re full of hate.

 

So I hope that this is a reminder to people to keep your house clean and keep your messages clean. And it’s bad that we do have to walk on eggshells, but unfortunately, that’s the country that we live in until we win. And then when we win, all these stupid hate crime laws will obviously be discarded.

 

But, yeah, I think maybe I’ll write up some guidance of the things that they got Sam on and just sort of like, say, do these few things just to cover your own back.

 

Mark Collett: I want to also add, we’re moving into an era where fundamentally, you could be attacked by somebody who isn’t White. You could come into your house and find your wife being attacked by somebody who isn’t White.

 

And if you said something to that attacker, if you said, get off her, you, … And then used a racial slur to describe the person attacking your wife, you could find that you were arrested, as well as the attacker, and that he was maybe even let off because of the mental strife or the mental hardship he’s faced because of you using that word. You would be the criminal!

 

And I find it very interesting that we’re moving to a position where using certain words, even if they’re just used in anger, is now enough to basically more or less ruin your life. And it seems very odd, because Sam had said maybe four or five things over a four or five year period. Does using one racial slur every year really make you a criminal, really make you that bad a person? I don’t think so!

 

Laura Towler: He said them at a rate of less than one racial slur per year. And Sam’s defense was like, obviously that’s the exception, then, not the rule. If he’s only talking like that once a year in a humourous manner. But this is what I’m saying. You just have to be so careful!

 

I mean, I was born on a council estate and I still live on a council estate and everybody on this street says P-A-K-I. Not in a hateful way, they just say P-shop. Or for a Chinese, we’ll say like, “chinky”, which is probably a racial slur as well. And I don’t use those words because I know that I’m held to a higher standard than everyone else because I work at Patriotic Alternative, so I have to be careful.

But this is just how people talk. It’s not hateful! But you have to be so careful. And it shouldn’t be like that. But you’ve got the choice between potentially losing your freedoms and then being out of the struggle for a while, or dropping something that you shouldn’t have to drop, but doing it so that you can be more committed, I guess. It’s just something we’ve got to weigh up.

 

Mark Collett: I agree.

 

Now, the other thing I’ve got to say is the judge really laboured some negative points about Sam and this deterrent issue, but he did sort of gloss over Sam’s good points, but he sort of put them to one side, Sam’s past record.

 

Now, Sam has obviously never committed a criminal act before. He’s a man who’s in good standing. He is a father. And looking at all of that, I was very disappointed that the judge didn’t suspend the sentence.

 

But something we have to say, and people have been sending me multiple messages about this. The very same judge has been handing out suspended sentences to people left, right and centre. Left, right and centre! People have sending me:

 

“Leeds student drug dealer was in possession of a smorgasbord of substances!”

 

So this is a black student drug dealer:

 

“At a raid at a student drug dealer’s Leeds flat and covered a smorgasbord of substances. A court heard.”

 

And this guy, he had everything, everything in his flat! Everything in his flat! And it was a suspended sentence from the same judge. 300 hours of a two year sentence, suspended for two years and 300 hours of unpaid work. But essentially let off.

 

And the same judge, and I think I’ve just posted this to my Telegram, so you can actually see this. This isn’t something where we’re just sort of smearing the guy:

 

“Man caught with sex images of children as young as three avoids jail term.”

 

Now, we keep seeing this again and again and again! Because on one hand we’re seeing the criminalisation of normal people. Normal people. But at the same time we’re seeing more and more of these child sex offenders walk free.

 

Now, you’re a mum, Sam’s a dad. How does that make you feel? Laura?

 

Laura Towler: Well, I think the one that gave James Costello five years was the worst, because he actually gave a suspended sentence to somebody who had multiple Category A images on their computer of children aged six months being., … How do I even word this?

 

Basically the worst type of thing that could happen to children of six months old. He gave that person a suspended sentence and James Costello five years in prison.

So it’s not a huge crime to be a paedophile in Britain today. You can do something horrific and then just walk out of prison!

 

I mean, if you’ve got these images on your computer, you’re as bad as the person doing the act, because the person is doing the act and filming it because there’s an appetite for it, i.e., you! And it’s just absolutely disgusting! Everything’s backwards. You know, it should be very long sentences for anybody that hurts a child.

 

And for people who just share their opinions, whether they’re like Hitler or Stalin or Mosley or Pol Pot or anyone, you’re just sharing your opinions. It shouldn’t even be a crime.

 

So I think a big focus of ours needs to be highlighting how bad these laws are and then putting forward sensible changes to them, and then trying to campaign for them and push back against them.

 

Sam wants to really push back against the police. I mentioned this at the start, just for his arrest in the first place, because it just seems so dodgy how they used the terrorism thing to get into our house and then dropped it. And it’s like:

 

“You’re allowed to do that?”

 

I think it just needs to be a big focus of nationalists and anybody who cares about freedom of speech to be fighting back against these laws that are written so flimsily and they’re so open to interpretation that the state is able to pick and choose who they prosecute.

 

Mark Collett: There is one final thing I want to say, and this is really important.

 

The other thing the judge said, which I found to be absolutely insane! And it’s difficult, really, to sort of articulate how insane it is! So I’m just going to tell you what the judge said. The judge said that an aggravating factor towards Sam’s criminality, i.e., something that would get him a longer sentence was the fact that:

 

“Sam said what he said at a sensitive time.”

 

So Sam did several stickers about grooming gangs. And he said:

 

“An aggravating factor was that these stickers were published at a sensitive time when grooming gangs were in the news, when they were operating, when they were being prosecuted.”

 

Now, this seems insane to me!

 

So another thing that the judge is saying is, if you speak about a pressing issue, and that issue is sensitive, that will be an aggravating factor in your sentencing.

 

So that means if grooming gangs begin operating more and more and more, you can speak about them less and less and less, because the issue is more sensitive!

 

So it’s basically like saying, as your headache gets worse, you can talk about it less. As a problem gets worse, you can go to the doctor less and talk about it less. That’s not how it works! As a problem gets worse, you talk about it more. It doesn’t serve you to talk about a worsening problem less and less! That’s insane!

 

Well, how can it be an aggravating factor? You wouldn’t even be talking about grooming gangs if they didn’t exist.

So what he’s saying is:

 

“You can talk about grooming gangs if they don’t exist and when they’re not operating, but the more they operate, the less you can talk about it, because it comes an aggravating factor!”

 

I mean, even just saying this doesn’t make sense! I’m hearing the words, but it’s mind boggling!

 

Laura Towler: If they’re happening, it’s a sensitive social climate, so you can’t talk about them.

 

Basically, you could only talk about grooming gangs when they’re not happening, because then it’s not a sensitive social climate. How do you even respond to that?

 

Mark Collett: But there’s nothing to, … And I’m going to say this to add insult to injury, on the day Sam was being sentenced and went down for two years for, in part, speaking about grooming gangs, who do you think was sat opposite us on the top floor of Leeds Crown Court on trial? Well, it was none other than a grooming gang from West Yorkshire! There was a group of groomers on the same floor as us, in the same courthouse going on trial. Maybe I’m not allowed to talk about that? Maybe I’ll be arrested tomorrow for saying that?

 

Laura Towler: I posted it on my channel.

 

But, I mean, it’s on the court listing, so you can see what’s happened.

 

But that was like such a, … I just remember saying to Sam, like:

 

“Just look at how disgusting some of these people are!”

 

These are people who are accused of raping children, forcing them into prostitution. And I think the other one was some sort of assault or something.

 

There were 42 people, three women who I think are all White, and 39 other people who are all Asian, south Asian, all just sat there smiling, shaking each other’s hands. It’s a difficult thing to look at because you want to say something and you can’t.

 

Mark Collett: Because if you do say something, you’ll be saying something about an issue which is ongoing and that makes it sensitive so you can’t talk about it.

 

So in other words, what have we learnt from today? Don’t have bad thoughts because you’ll be sentenced to time in jail as a deterrent for others to make sure they don’t have bad thoughts! If you’re a normal guy and not part of the political elite and you have ideas outside of the two party system, don’t do anything about it, guys, because if you do, you’re somehow impeding the real politicians from doing their job. Politics isn’t something for the man on the street. We learnt that as well today.

And finally we learnt that if there is a problem and if that problem is getting worse, you’re allowed to talk about it less, because talking about the issue only inflames it. Keep your mouth shut and let the multicultural system eat your family alive!

 

Those were the messages we learnt today. And I can tell you if you’re finding this enraging! Well, it was every bit as enraging, if not more so, when we had to sit in silence in that public gallery and listen to it being fed to us as if we were naughty schoolchildren.

 

We live in an anti-White, multicultural tyranny!

 

And that’s why I’m going to make a big pledge tonight about moving forward, because usually we go to the Superchats about now, but me and Laura wanted to talk about moving forward.

 

Myself and Laura are under great threat doing what we do. We go to every length that we can to act within the law, and we go to every length we can to find peaceful solutions to the problems we face.

 

And I’ve gone to great lengths to that recently, meeting people from other communities and trying to say:

 

“How could we solve this peacefully?”

 

We do everything within the law and we never advocate for any form of violence or criminality. But that doesn’t change the fact that myself and Laura are probably two of, if not the two most “at risk” people in the country when it comes to politics.

 

We’ve already lost Sam. Now it’s for something that was nothing to do with PA. And we’ve seen many other people, some of them PA people, some of them to do with other groups, some of them just people who happen to download the wrong book, go to jail. But we are certainly targets. And that is something that obviously would make anyone uncomfortable.

 

So how are we going to move forward? Well, none of these problems are going to be solved if we do what they want, which is give up.

 

And my pledge to you tonight is that I know many people will be scared. I’ve already had one person write to me today, say he doesn’t want to have anything to do with politics anymore. Well, that’s his choice.

 

But the fact of the matter is, that’s not the road for me. I am not giving in! I am not backing down! And anybody, White, black, Christian, pagan, Muslim, that wants me on their show to talk about this tyranny, I will travel anywhere in the country. I will let you book me in, and I will do any show that you want and talk about this! Because not only am I not giving up, despite the threat that we are under, we have to redouble our efforts.

 

And my plea to everyone watching this show is you might feel that you can’t do this. You might feel you don’t want to be at the front. You might feel that this is a scary time to be a political dissident.

 

Well, I’ve made this promise before I’m not asking you all to be face out. I’m not asking you all to do anything in your own name. I’m not asking anybody to do anything they’re uncomfortable with. But if you get behind me and you stand behind me and Laura, we will be the tip of the spear. We will take what comes our way. We will do it graciously and humbly, but we are not giving in!

And if you want to rage against this anti-White, multicultural tyranny, we will stand here and we will lead the protests. We will do the streams. We will design the leaflets. We will put them out. We will campaign in as many ways as we can. We will strive to become a political party as we have been doing. And trust me, it’s not an easy pledge to make because I have a wife. I have a beautiful four year old daughter who I love very much, and I don’t want to miss her growing up.

 

And the fact Sam is missing some of his daughter growing up is absolutely heartbreaking! It’s heartbreaking, and he will be on my mind tonight when I go to sleep. But we are not giving up. And I know Laura’s not giving up.

 

And I’ve got to say this because I want to get Laura’s say, but I’ve got to say this about Laura. When we came out of that court, Laura was strong, dignified, and defiant!

 

And I just wanted to get her away from it because I wanted to let her be herself. And we walked off in the rain. We walked off in the rain to my car, and I drove her home.

 

And as I drove her home, we talked, and I tried to just be my normal self, you know, daft jokes, talking to her about things, saying, Sam would be all right, it’s going to be fine. And Laura didn’t need that. She didn’t need me helping her through that. Because she was so strong, so positive!

 

And the only thing she kept talking about is:

 

“How can we fight on and keep doing this and raise more awareness?”

 

She came away from that courthouse not as a beaten, distraught, depressed woman ready to throw in the towel, crying for a husband. She walked away from that courthouse wanting to fight back and redouble her efforts. I’ve met a lot of people in my time in nationalism, but I don’t think I’ve ever met anybody who’s stronger or harder working!

 

And today I was so absolutely proud of her! It was unbelievable! Now she’s just muted at the worst possible time. But I assume that’s because Catherine needs something.

We were going to do a PA update tonight, and obviously we don’t have time for that, and we’ll appreciate that. And there’s a lot of things to talk about.

 

There was an amazing Drag Queen Story Hour demo. There was a wonderful flash demo in Cannock with over 30 activists engaging with the public for nearly two hours. Hundreds and hundreds of leaflets handed out.

 

There’s activity almost every other day somewhere in the country. We’ve got people in London. We’ve got people in every part of the country. We’re back up and running in London now. Everywhere something is happening. And there’ll be camps, there’ll be conferences, there’ll be other events.

 

Last night we had a workshop on how to produce AI comics and artwork. This is a multifaceted approach to community based politics! This is the real deal! And there’s no other group that is suppressed and repressed like Patriotic Alternative.

 

We’re the only group that aren’t allowed to register as a political party even though other groups have used exactly the same constitution as we have and been registered. There’s no other group that has these big exposes on the television about us. There’s no other group that isn’t allowed on Twitter. We are the most persecuted and repressed group in the country! But that’s for a reason.

 

It’s because we’re the real deal! And with a real deal because of things like today, because of the way we handled it, the way we’re ready to fight back and the way we’re not cucking on anything. We’re not the group that’s going to stop using the word “White”. We’re not the group that’s going to stop doing the charity work on the streets or back down when we’re threatened. And that’s partially because of this woman’s strength. Laura, what do you have to say about all that?

And basically on the car ride on the way home, your biggest thing wasn’t cry for me. It was how can we redouble our efforts and how are we going to, … Laura’s biggest concern is basically making sure people aren’t scared off by this and we keep fighting. That’s really her biggest thing. And that’s an amazing trait!

Laura Towler: The speech at the last PA Conference that I gave was called, “This is Not a Game”. And I meant it when I said that. We don’t do this for any other reason than to secure a safe future for future generations. And I have a two year old daughter and I’m eight months pregnant and I’m giving birth to my second daughter next month.

 

And I want the country that they grow up in to be safe for them. And I want them to be able to speak freely and be proud of who they are. And I want them to have a community around them and not feel like they’re a stranger, or a hated minority in the area where they live.

 

And if we do nothing and we continue down the path that we’re on, that is the future for them. And I can’t allow that to happen!

 

We’ve never promised that we’re going to win, and we’ve never promised that it’s going to be easy. But we have promised you that we will never, ever quit! And when we said that four years ago, when we launched PA, we meant it. And after everything we’ve been through over the last four and a bit years, we’re still here saying we will never ever quit. And anytime they attack us, it only grows our ranks. It only makes more people aware to how weak, but also anti-White the system is.

 

So, yeah, I’m still very much committed in the struggle. There’s a big event that’s going to be taking place in March. You’ll see me at that. Unless the baby comes early, then you might not, but hopefully you’ll see me at that. And I hope to see some of you guys there as well.

So, yeah, if Sam was a black person advocating for black people, he could literally call for violence and it would be absolutely fine!

And by rights any conviction should ONLY happen from a jury. PEOPE need to wake up and start paying attention to the Bill of Rights and demanding it’s followed.

I’m delighted to welcome that my dear friend who’s been with me since the very start, Mike Walsh.

 

So let’s bring him up right now. Mike, are you with us?

 

Mike Walsh: Yes. We’ve been together for a very long time, haven’t we? And I hope that we will be together for a very long time in the future, because it’s very rewarding talking with my friends around the world and hearing from them, which you do.

 

So thank you for all the messages of support since we last talked. It really is appreciated and very much helpful.

 

So I just want you to know that from this side of the world, you are very much appreciated. The whole family. Thank you, Andrew, for having me on your show again.

 

Andrew Hitchcock: Well, thank you so much, Mike.

 

And should we start off with, we’re recording this on Tuesday, May the 9th. And we’re going to be putting this up in about 15 hours, early on Wednesday, May the 10th. But, of course, today is this day that Russia celebrates every year, some military victory day. Mike will know more about it than me.

 

And, of course, we’ve had an increase in the violence in the Ukraine. So what is your current analysis of what’s going on between Russia and Ukraine and the West, Mike?

 

Mike Walsh: Yeah, I don’t consider it a war, Ukraine against Russia or Russia against Ukraine. They’re being used as a battering ram, Ukraine. And the war would have ended at least a year ago had it not been for the arms and the money pouring in from the Western alliance.

 

So it’s a proxy war. And it’s a war that they’re losing, but they will just not admit that they’re losing. I’m not talking about Ukraine. It’s going to be an absolute disaster! And this is why the Western Alliance is working so hard to keep the war going, because they don’t want to lose face, as they did with Afghanistan. And there’s no question about it, the war is being won in Russia’s favour only today.

And remember that Ukraine, in terms of population, is a very small country. It’s got about 20, 25 million, most of whom are female or the very old or the very young. They don’t have many men of fighting age. And yet today they’ve lost 460 fighting men in the war. The attrition rate is eight to one. So for every eight Ukrainians who die in this conflict, this NATO conflict, there’s only one Russian dying. And they are a much bigger population, a well organised army. They’re a world nuclear power. They can afford it. Ukraine can’t.

 

So far, the figures are staggering! Ukraine has lost, so far, an estimated 350,000 fighting men. Now out of a very small population, less than half of that of Spain, that is cataclysmic! When you bear in mind that they’ve never forgotten the Vietnam War, which lasted for 20 years.

 

And of course, the important thing to remember about that debacle is that 55,000 American servicemen lost their lives in the unfortunate hapless Vietnam War. Nearly seven times that number of casualties have occurred in this NATO conflict against Russia, which is only 14 months old now. That is the scale of this catastrophe! Ukraine will never recover from it.

 

But NATO, the Western alliance, Andrew, will never recover from it at all. Because even as I speak, even though the Russians, there is no triumphalism, not on this particular conflict anyway.

 

Another story. But the Russians don’t accept yesterday that they won. But everybody knows, even the Western pundits are bracing for a defeat for Ukraine.

 

Now, if Ukraine is defeated, and it is already defeated, it’s not just the defeat of Ukraine, because Ukraine really doesn’t matter anymore. Ukraine is half the size, or it will be half the size that it was in February 2022. They’ve already lost, 20% of their territory, which in terms of mineral resources is the richest, richer than the other 80%, to Russia.

 

There is absolutely no way that Donbas or Crimea is ever going to be under the Ukrainian or the NATO flag. That is not going to happen.

 

Kiev has already ceded western Ukraine to Poles. Because in 1945, when Europe was carved up by the military victors, a great slice of Poland was given to Ukraine in compensation. They were given a large swathe of territory, former German territory. So everything shifted to the West. Now, Poland being Poland, wants their territory back. They’re not going to give the territory that they took from Germany back to Germany, but they want the territory that was taken from Poland and given to Ukraine in 1945 under Stalin. They want that back, and they’ve already got it back. They’ve got de facto, they’re changing the laws.

 

So everybody living in western Ukraine, which again is about 20% of that country, is now under Polish influence.

Now, when this happens, and it is happening, Hungary, which again lost a lot of territory, Hungarian territory, to Ukraine in the aftermath of World War II, as did Romania, they want their populations back. Because again. In western Ukraine there are many people who are ethnic Hungarian, who see themselves as Hungarian. They speak only the Hungarian language. They go to Hungarian schools and Hungarian churches. They follow the Hungarian culture. Absolutely the same with Romania.

 

So the whole shift is occurring as we’re talking. And what will the outcome be for the Western alliance? A fiasco! A debacle far greater than was Afghanistan! If you think Afghanistan, which they scarpered from in a couple of days, was a fiasco for the United States and NATO, it’s going to be dwarfed by the collapse of the Ukrainian front.

 

All of the NATO Arsenals, and we’re talking about, I think it’s 20 countries or 30 countries, they have been emptied. Even Britain can’t even defend itself now.

 

I read that Poland has enough in their military Arsenals to last in a fire-fight for about two days.

 

So the Western alliance has completely collapsed! It couldn’t fight anything now.

 

So that’s completely gone.

 

Biden is hanging on by his teeth. If the war is lost, then the next election is going to be won by Trump. And the European Union, which stupidly followed the Washington line is going to be isolated as the United States collapses, and there’s going to be a Russia – that’s already happening with Hungary and other countries – they are already preparing to make friends with Russia, simply because they won’t have any choice.

 

The omnipotence of the United States, like the British Empire and like the Soviet Union, is evaporating.

 

And that means the two strongest powers, the true omnipotent powers of the world today, will be Russia and China. And Europe, the European Union. If the entire of Europe, from the Urals to the Atlantic Ocean, was a foot, the European Union would actually only be the size of one’s big toe!

 

So it’s insignificant, in world affairs, and it’s increasingly insignificant. The world is de-dollarizing, the West is gone.

 

So this is the outcome of this debacle, this latest NATO debacle.

 

Scott Ritter, the former Weapons Inspector for the United Nations, said:

 

“NATO is Europe’s suicide pill!”

 

And it absolutely is! All it’s good for is creating refugee crises, making the arms or weapons industry very rich, but impoverishing people and killing hundreds of thousands of people! I think there’s been more than 40 conflicts since 1945.

 

Today, the Soviet Union is celebrating what they call Victory Day. I don’t know whose victory it was, but we don’t live in a real world anymore. And I am a victim of those who don’t like the “truth”. Inconvenient history! That’s all I’ve ever written about, is inconvenient history.

And Russia will today forget. I’ve got nothing against Russia. I’ve always said that the war was against Bolshevism. Soviet Union, Bolshevism. There was no problems at all from Germany or anyone else about the Russian, or the Russian people or the Russian culture. If The Times would be turned back and Putin was in power instead of Stalin in 1942, there wouldn’t have been a Second World War. The Germans and the Russians would have gone on, fine.

 

What they also forget, and this will be an inconvenient history today is over a million in the Vlasav [sp] regiments. In the Vlasav regiments of World War II, over a million of Russians fought on the side of Hitler’s Germany against Bolshevik Russia. Vlasav himself was a former Red Army, a much Heralded Red Army general who saved Vladivistok, … Not Vladivistok, Moscow, rather. He saved Moscow. But he led the Resistance. So that in that respect, World War II for the Russians was a civil war.

 

And they also tend to forget that it wasn’t the Russians who won the war. They wouldn’t have done it unless they were in total collaboration and gaining the support of the West, which they deny.

 

So there wasn’t a Red Army soldier whose tunic was not made in the West. All of the buttons that held the tunics together were made in the United States. All the ships, all the tanks, everything on wheels was made in the United States. All of the railway rolling stock was made in the United States. They couldn’t have done it!

 

So the victory was a victory for three world empires who collaborating together, which was the greatest insanity ever, destroyed a country that was half the size of Texas! If they can call that “victory” and hold victory parades, then I find that they can probably make Father Christmas appear to be truth!

 

But this is the world we live in. We live in a world of total fantasy! We’re fighting to struggle, we’re fighting to avoid totalitarianism, and we tend to forget that we are already living in a totalitarian society.

 

The war is over. Ukraine is totally defeated. They’ve got no chance whatsoever of mounting a counter offensive. The Russians take the policy of:

 

“He who hits first, hits twice.”

 

I think they’ve hit them so many times, the Ukrainians, and, of course, NATO, that the war is decidedly over in Russia’s favour.

 

And when we emerge from it, when the muck flops, it’s going to be a totally different world from that that preceded February 2022.

 

There is no war, not even a 100 years war, that has ever created such a disaster for the West as this war! This NATO war, to ruin Russia. Russia has had 12, 600 sanctions imposed on it. It’s emerged stronger! It’s got a higher GDP than the West, [?] it’s got lower interest rates on absolutely everything. They’ve emerged from. It very successful while we are digging our own graves. There you are. Thank you for the opportunity for bringing you up to date, Andrew.

Andrew Hitchcock: Well, thank you so much, Mike, for that detailed analysis there. Very, very interesting.

 

And what I’m going to ask Mike about, many of you will know that Mike led the British movement. A political party, for many years, and took over from Colin Jordan, who took over from Arnold Lease. So certainly Arnold Lease is someone that I’ve read a lot about. I’m not so keen on Colin Jordan. I think I can speak for Mike as well there [chuckling].

 

But the reason I mention this is that there’s a guy who’s called Charlie, calls himself Charlie Big Potatoes. Interesting name, but his real name is Kristofer Kearney. And I’ve been following this case because, well, let me read to you from the Liverpool Echo newspaper online. This is from the 8 May:

 

“Charlie Big Potatoes claimed Hitler did nothing wrong. Court told Kristofer Thomas Kearney used the name Charlie Big Potatoes on Telegram when he shared the manifesto of Norway killer Anders Breivik, but said he did not know it was among the library of literature he posted as he just gave it a quick scan. A judge will determine whether posts shared by Kearny were reckless or if the evidence is consistent with an intent to encourage terrorism.

The self described British fascist is part of the Right-wing group known as Patriotic Alternative. He added the main aim of the organisation was not to become minorities in our own home. The Old Bailey heard. The 38 year old, who is originally from Liverpool, told Telegram users ‘Adolf Hitler showed people the way’ and ‘did nothing wrong’.

The defendant, a former soldier in the Parachute Regiment, regularly featured on Right-wing podcasts. He also set up his own channel called Fascist Fitness to hand out exercise and fitness tips.

An image of Kearny with a National Action flag was shown in court, which the defendant said was taken at an anti-grooming gang rally in Darlington. He is said to have been an active member of the neo-Nazi group until a week before it was banned for glorifying the murder of MP Joe Cox.

Kearny was extradited from Spain to face charges last September and pleaded guilty to two offences of disseminating terrorist publications.

He is believed to be the first member of Patriotic Alternative to be convicted of terrorist offences. On Friday, May the fifth. Last Friday, Ged O’Connor, defending, set out how Kearney was unaware he was posting Breivik’s manifesto. Prosecutor Naomi Parsons told the court Kearny’s Telegram channel contained themes of ‘White genocide’, anti-semitism and the glorification of Nazi Germany. Ms. Parsons said:

‘These themes are depicted by violence. There are numerous videos that suggest violence is looming. Violence is inevitable. The evidence is consistent with intent rather than recklessness. It is evident from the defendant himself, the images and words he has said, which suggest he is of the mind that violence is inevitable and that others should commit acts of violence.’

But Kearny told the court he viewed violence as ‘counter-productive’ and when questioned if he believes in violence, responded, ‘No other than in self defense, no.’

The offences relate to two Telegram posts on January 23 and March the 8th, 2021, which disseminated dozens of documents encouraging extreme Right-wing terror attacks, including the manifestos of Christchurch mosque killer Brenton Tarrant and Breivik, who murdered 77 people in Norway. Two other far-Right extreme extremist manifestos related to Texas Walmart, mass killer Patrick Crusius and John Earnest, who shot people at the California synagogue in 2019.

In 2021 he posted a numbered list and links to 89 extreme Right-wing documents. It is believed he was head of Fitness at Patriotic Alternative and regularly shared posts from its accounts such as White Lives Matter banners.

The issue of Kearney’s motivation will be decided on Tuesday before he is sentenced.”

Now, I found out that the court case was starting at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May the 9th. And I thought that he was just going in there to be sentenced because he’d gone guilty. But what he’s actually said I’ve been frantically trying to find things because I thought that I’d be able to present what was put in the media, present his sentence, get Mike’s response.

 

But the best I’ve come up with is this is 3 hours ago as we’re recording this off Twitter. So this is happening at 11:40 am UK time in his court. There’s five Twitter posts, but I’ll read them all together:

 

“Kristofer Kearney is back in the witness box. He is being cross examined by prosecutor Naomi Parsons at a New Tupton hearing after pleading guilty to sharing terrorist documents on his Telegram channel. She is going through some of the documents he linked to. Among them were the manifestos of Anders Breivik, Brenton Tarrant, Dylan Roof and Patrick Crusius, all of whom committed massacres against Left-wingers, Muslims, black people, and Latinos, in that order. And the novel, turner diaries. The Turner Diaries is a novel, which says Ms Parsons, depicts a revolution against the Jewish controlled government which leads to the creation of a new White order after an apocalyptic war.

She says Professor Paul Jackson says it and the manifestos gave moral justification for extremist Right-wing terrorists. Judge Marks asked Kearney if he was horrified at Professor Jackson’s opinion that he was encouraging political violence. He says, ‘He is.’

The court are being shown videos he posted on his Telegram channel. They include one which appeared to be produced by Russian far-Right and included the term ‘White Jihad’, and another which was violently anti-semitic.”

 

So this is pretty much all the up to date information that I can get so far. I’ve also got a statement from Patriotic Alternative on Kristofer Kearney, known as Charlie Big Potatoes. But before I read what they say, their statement on him. Any comments? Mike, over to you.

Mike Walsh: Well, there seem to be in the British Right-wing at least is a political in-sophistication. We have strong Right-wing movements throughout Europe and they wouldn’t be so foolish to be publishing things like that, certainly without making it absolutely clear that they did not support it. So it’s whether there was an “intent to” and with the likes of Brevik’s manifesto, who was a Left-winger anyway, and gave a clinched fist salute, which, ridiculously, the press said was a Nazi salute. I never ever saw a National Socialist in my life giving a clinched fist salute. But there you are, that’s the press. They turn the truth on its head.

 

But as far as I’m aware, Brevik’s manifesto has been published in the mainstream media! And much of the information that you’ve otherwise mentioned has likewise been covered. So it’s whether it is done with any “intent”. Now, this is where he has to wriggle out, if he’s not diplomatic enough in the first place, to be very careful about what he post. He’s got to make absolutely certain in what he posts that he doesn’t support it. He’s a news reporter.

 

That’s what I do with Europe Renaissance. I’m not supporting violence, I’m not a violent person, and I don’t think that violence achieves anything at all except bloodshed. It never has done. It’s got to be debate, and that’s the way I make it absolutely clear.

 

And this is what he should.

 

But he’s been very unwise in publishing this sort of thing. The days are gone when you could pick up a copy. I used to sell it in the days of the British movement. I was a leader of the British movement for 15 years. Not two or three years like Colin Jordan, but for 15 years.

 

And in those days you could sell the Turner Diaries. It was one of those I did. I used to sell the United States, Army Survival Manuals, and how to make explosives and all the rest of it. You can’t do that anymore!

 

These people need to drag themselves into the 20th century. There has been a quiet revolution which has turned against anybody of conservative thinking. All of my books have been banned, and yet they’re absolutely tame compared with some of the books that he has been perhaps or seem to be promoting! And they’ve certainly got to be a little bit more sensible in what they do, or stay out of comment altogether. We don’t have a free press! We don’t live in a free country!

 

As I said earlier, Andrew, we are living, and we’ve got to accept the fact that we are living in a totalitarian society and we are very limited to what we can do. And we have to be particularly careful about the way we handle world affairs. I do. Everybody else does.

 

But this again explains why Britain, alone in Europe, is showing the smallest Right-wing unity of any of them. Even Sweden has got a far stronger Right-wing than has Britain. The National Front is gone. The British National Party is gone. The National Party is gone. There is nothing!

As soon as anything reaches any level in which they can potentially achieve anything, a division occurs. It is so predictable. It’s like December the 25th! You know it’s going to be Christmas Day. And, you know, that as soon as a political party, a political movement in Britain, as soon as they get to any strength at all, where they could start vying for some kind of influence anyway, it divides and splits.

 

But you got your Brothers of Italy*. In Italy, it’s powerful! It’s in government!

You got Marie Le Pen in France. That if they would hold an election, everybody regrets having voted for Macron. If there was an election tomorrow, then Marie Le Pen, the former National Front leader, would walk it!

 

It’s the same in Spain. Vox is now the most powerful kingmaker in the Spanish government in Madrid. But right the way through. You’ve got the AFP in Germany, you’ve got the Swedish, you got the Danish. Every single one of them is far more sophisticated, politically sophisticated, and aware than Britain. Britain, really, in terms of political activity, is really in the “pram stage”. It’s a Toddler. And I just about give up on it, simply because those who could have done anything with it, like myself, like John Tyndal, like Martin Webster, perhaps, and certainly like the others that preceded us, Oswald Mosley, what a great man he was! Have we ever been in a world in which there was a greater need for Oswald Mosley? There aren’t anymore. But it will take some kind of a social revolution anyway to change things.

 

And as I said before, Andrew, we’re going through a collapse. I’ve just done a story today in Europe Renaissance, the European Union is collapsing. I predicted it a long time ago. I predicted the collapse of the United States. I predicted the de-dollarisation of the dollar, the United States dollar. I predicted a shift to Russia, as did [word unclear] incidentally. So everything is happening just as I predicted.

 

So what you’re going to have in Europe, is you’re going to have a complete collapse of the European Union and one country after another, they’re already starting, they’re starting to shift their alliance from across the Atlantic. America will become self sufficient. It will withdraw all of its bases and all the rest of it. It doesn’t have any choice. It’s being kicked out of the Middle East. It’s being kicked out of the Persian Gulf. It’s being kicked out of Africa, it’s being kicked out of Indonesia. Everywhere else.

 

What we’re saying now is another collapsing empire, which on this day, in which the Russians call it Victory Day, good luck to that one. It just kept coming as I’m going for another 45 years. And the Gulag and everything else we were supposed to afford, it would just put them in charge. But there you are. I hope I didn’t wander off topic there.

But people have to be more circumspect when they’re publishing things, when they are living, as we are, in a totalitarian state. Britain is in a totalitarian state. It’s only three or four days ago when Republicans who wanted to simply put up placards and hand out leaflets calling for a referendum on the leadership, that kind of sovereignty of Britain, King Charles III, that’s all we were protesting. There was no violence or absolutely anything at all. They’ve all been released without charge, but they were all rounded up. If that doesn’t tell you whatever your views are on the Royal family, if that doesn’t tell you that you’re living in a totalitarian state, then I’m afraid you missed the boat altogether. Andrew Hitchcock: Thank you, Mike. And I have actually got a conclusion to this Christopher Kearney case, though not the one that I guess most people the sort of final conclusion, if you like. But again from Twitter, where is it? Here. This is from 2 hours ago:

 

“Judge Mark says he will need to have a report from the probation service before he delivers sentence. He says sentencing of Kristofer Kearney will have to be put off for a month or so.”

 

Okay. So there is not going to be any verdict today, which is what I expected. So no doubt he has been returned to prison because when he was extradited to hear from Spain, I believe he was put in Chemlsford Prison [in Essex]. And initially he was going by video link to the court to submit his pleas. But it looks like what we were reporting today, that he actually was in the witness box today being spoken to by the prosecuting barrister.

 

But I want to go over to, … They mentioned in this other post, The Turner Diaries. Now I remember the Turner diaries were being carried on Amazon for many years.

 

In fact, I just checked to see if it was. I checked both the American site and the UK site and it isn’t. But there is something that is being carried on there. You can, however, go to Ebay. And I’ve typed in the Turner Diaries. Yeah. And several results have come up. People are selling it, so it’s very easy to get along with the book Hunter, which was by the same author.

 

And of course, Andrew McDonald was actually a pseudonym of National Alliances William Pierce.

But let’s go over to Amazon now. One thing that I thought was banned, and I’m sure I’d read about this being listed when people are being tried for whatever they want to call it, hate or terrorism or what have you. One publication that they don’t like is The Anarchist Cookbook. But on Amazon Co UK, you can buy the paperback for 21 pound, 36 Pence. Or you can buy a Kindle edition. It’s had its little Kindle work done. And it’s the original version by all looks of it. I’ll give you the description here:

And I’m just going to look at one review here that I noticed. It says:

But get this:

 

“So far as bomb making and all of that, the book is technically good. But the methodology involving use of nitrogen compounds, particularly red fuming nitric acid and cotton to make gun cotton is fundamentally unsound and unsafe. You could blow a hand off, or worse, very easily following Powell’s directions.”

 

So here’s a reviewer saying that this book could actually tell you how to blow things up. Just maybe you’d be harming yourself in the process.

 

Mike, as someone who had all his books removed from Amazon, did your books give any ideas to people as to how they could make bombs that Amazon still sells books about like this?

Mike Walsh: None at all. The one of the hated of the most was Europe Arise, which was purely a defense manual for the White people. And that there was absolutely nothing that anybody could object to, but it was White. But the book that you’re just talking about, The Anarchist Cookbook, that was, of course, always a Left-wing book from the 1960s. And I shouldn’t think that if the police were to do their job and the Crown Prosecution Service, if that is what it’s called, was to do their job, and make some up raids in the Left-wing and the black power movement and all of the radical Left-wing movements, they would be able to jail the lot for the rest of their lives.

 

But of course, they’re not interested. The only one that puts the fear of God of them, the only side that puts up the fear of God of them is the conservative Right. And we see evidence of this all the time and they don’t like those who expose government.

 

Now, how can Britain possibly describe itself as a free society when in the high security Belmarsh prison. His Majesty’s Belmash Prison. You have Julian Assange, a genuine journalist, who has never, ever been prosecuted for anything, that he has ever written! Even the Brazilian Prime Minister this week, Lula, he condemned it. Everybody has condemned it. Mexico has condemned it. The entire world is standing up to the totalitarianism of the West, and Britain is in the forefront of that!

 

So when you’ve got the likes of Assange in jail, yet they’re selling, openly, The Anarchist Cookbook, then there is something radically wrong with society. And it is not the radical Right, it is the radical people who occupy the seats of power.

 

And this is what we’ve got to be up against.

 

Now, what you’ve got to be careful of here is that if you were to purchase this book, if you were read it for any reason at all, and the police confiscated it, they could claim, as the gentleman that you’ve just been talking about, is that you’re using it for ulterior motives. So you’ve got to be careful of what you possess. I always said that if you’re going out for a night out, there are so many attacks on Whites by blacks now that you really need to carry something that protects yourself. Now you’re not allowed to defend yourself in Britain. This is against the law, to defend yourself.

 

So if you take a knife, or well, you wouldn’t take a gun, even though it’s legal for you to carry one. No, it’s got to be. You couldn’t do it. But I always said, take a bunch of keys with you, and put your finger through the ring of the bunch of keys and use it as a knuckle duster. It is absolutely devastating! Far more damage than a knife could cause. But it’s legal. How are they going to prosecute you for carrying a bunch of keys in your house? Everybody walks around with the debit card and the credit card and plastic cards like it in their wallet. It’s nastier than any open razor, in opening a face. I did this for the ladies, primarily because the ladies are being attacked by migrants.

So I said:

 

“Take your card out, put it between your fingers and use it to open the skin of anybody’s faces who attacks you!”

 

And showed them how to stick your fingers up and attack his nostrils and rip back! Or how to give them a belt in between the eyes because it breaks the bone and goes into the eyes, but only at defense! And I have to make that absolutely clear all the time!

 

The British troops, when we had an empire and they were not allowed to carry guns, they carried a rolled up newspaper, because a rolled up newspaper, when you grasp it in your hand and bring up the rolled up bit onto somebody’s chin or into between their legs, is absolutely devastating!

 

But another trick that I always used to say is take a bottle of lemonade, or any bottle of bottle of beer. There’s no law against carrying a bottle of beer home.

 

But if you are surrounded by four or five thugs then you break the bottle of beer you hold onto it’s neck and you got a dozen vicious knives in your hand! At least you’ve got a chance. But this way it is very, very difficult for the state police. I don’t like calling them police officers anymore, just simply because they swear allegiance to the monarch. A lot of people apparently did that a few days ago. But it doesn’t make them officers, does it?

 

So I don’t like using the term “police officer”. Making an oath of allegiance to his majest, in my book, does not make an officer. I came from a society in which an officer was somebody of great competence who took a ship from Liverpool to Rio Janeiro and could do it competently and take it anywhere else in the world. That was an officer. An officer was somebody in the armed forces in the Royal Navy or in the Air Force, the Royal Air Force, or in the army. And they were well, officers.

 

But to relate, police officers I call them “state agents” as they were in Eastern Europe, as they were in East Germany. They were state operatives. And they’re not policemen! I say a policeman because I came from an earlier generation. I see a policeman as a Bobby who helps children across the road who helps grannies who are struggling with their bags and shows people the way. Not these uniformed pretend soldiers that we have now.

 

The people who wouldn’t go into a British Army uniform in case it brought a threat to them. But they wear a policeman’s uniform. I just don’t accept them as officers at all. But there you are. I think again, I went off topic. It’s typical of me. I hope people can live with me.

Andrew Hitchcock: Thank you, Mike. But you didn’t really go off topic. It was quite helpful because I’ve got, … This is the only self defense DVD I’ve got. I looked into this a few years ago. I’ve never been very good at, … When I was at police training school they used to do this thing you could do extra PE in an evening and stuff like that. There’d be a guy at the front doing all these movements and you’re copying them and stuff like that.

 

But I’m just all over the place.

 

So there were some people from my class and friends of mine that had come along just to watch how I was trying to keep up because it looked like I had Saint Vitus’ dance* or something. I just couldn’t do the moves that the instructor was doing that everyone else had seemed to do. So I’ve always been all over the place for things like that.

 

[* St. Vitus’s dance. Saint Vitus’s dance is another name for chorea, a disorder marked by involuntary spasms of the limbs and facial muscles.]

 

Consequently, I was trying to do the extra classes for, … It was called UDT, Unarmed Defense techniques. But a few years ago I bought this DVD that’s actually quite entertaining as well. The guy who does it, there are some out-takes at the end which are quite funny as well. I suppose that’s not the real reason for getting it. But it’s called “Self defense, empty hands and with everyday items”. It’s by a guy called Franck Ropers. Now, Franck is spelt F-R-A-N-C-K. Ropers. R-O-P-E-R-S. It’s available from Amazon in the UK. At least for about 15 pounds, new. And on the back it says:

 

“An item that can look harmless can become a formidable weapon. To know how to use the surroundings is a basic asset for self defense.

 

Therefore, it’s important to be able to use the improvised weapons found anywhere around you. Thus, a pen, a key or even a newspaper may, if needed, be improvised as a weapon and save your life. [*Pencak silat is an umbrella term for a class of related Indonesian martial arts. In neighbouring countries, the term usually refers to professional competitive silat. It is a full-body fighting form incorporating strikes, grappling and throwing in addition to weaponry.]

 

And as I say, I’ve watched it and I think I’ll have another look at it actually, because people who listen regularly know watch quite a few things.

 

So I’m going to put that to look at again. Because the way that he does it, he’ll do the move, someone set up scene, someone comes to threaten him, trying to attack him, and then he does it. And then he does it bit by bit to show you what moves where. And it sounds complicated, but believe me, if I could follow it, you certainly can.

 

So it’s something worth looking at.

 

And as Mike says, you have to be so careful with what you possess now. I mean, in Ireland, they’re even looking to pass a law to jail people for having things on their computer that they don’t like. Doesn’t matter if you’ve distributed it or not. And we’re not talking about things that should be prosecutable, like child pornography. We’re talking about a meme that they don’t like, a radio show that they don’t like. You don’t have to have distributed it. If you own it, they can jail you. That’s the law that they want to pass.

But before we go, I did say that I was going to read a Patriotic Alternative statement on Kristofer Kearney. Now, this went up on March the first [2023]. So let me just read this for Mike now and then we’ll get his comments and then we’ll go:

 

“Earlier today, March the first, Kristofer Kearney, better known online as Charlie Big Potatoes, pleaded guilty to recklessness at the Old Bailey in relation to sharing a number of documents deemed as illegal.

Firstly, it is important to make clear what has actually taken place here. Christopher shared a link to a page on Telegram which contained a library of over 10,000 books. Among those books, which included novels, health and fitness advice, gardening tips, and historical texts were a number of items that are banned by the UK government, including a number of manifestos linked to individuals who carried out unconscionable acts. It is also important to note that the banned items made up less than 1% of the total items in the library.

Secondly, Kristofer maintains that he shared the link in good faith, without full knowledge of what was present in the library.

However, he concedes that his actions were ‘reckless’ and as such he has pleaded guilty with a view to a reduced sentence.

Finally, Kristofer was living in Spain when the offence took place and the actions were not committed on British soil, nor were they deemed illegal in Spain. Kristofer also has a young family and his partner gave birth to his fourth child shortly before he was arrested and remanded in custody. He has now spent over twelve months in custody, missing the majority of his young child’s life.

As such, we understand why he is eager to bring these legal proceedings to a close and be reunited with his family. We also understand the severity of the charges.

However, we must stress that the link that Kristofer shared was done so on his own private page. It was never shared to a Patriotic Alternative page. And it was not shared in any official capacity. We completely disavow any form of violence and or terrorism and are completely committed to peaceful Democratic change through our community building program.

This case should serve as a warning to all those using any online platform or social network as to the dangers of doing so under new government anti-terror legislation. By sharing links online from sources that you cannot trust or are unsure of, you may well be putting yourself and others at risk.

We urge all those within the nationalist community to exercise caution when interacting online and remind all those associated with Patriotic Alternative that we have a code of conduct which forbids the use of racial slurs or advocacy of undemocratic means of achieving political change. We also hope that this case will now be swiftly concluded and that Kristofer and his family will be reunited as soon as possible.”

 

So I think that we certainly learnt a few things there, didn’t we Mike, that we didn’t hear in the Twitter posts I read or the Liverpool Echo article I read, didn’t we?

Mike Walsh: He’s been targeted, hasn’t he? And he’s been very unwise because he’s given them the ammunition that they were looking for. And this is where we’ve all got to be careful. We mustn’t provide the enemy, which is the State, with the ammunition that they’re looking for. So we’ve just got to be more careful than we have done in the past.

 

As I said before, some of these books, they were openly sold. All of the US manuals, I was making reasonable money out of those when I was running the British moment. How to how to make improvised weapons, I seem to remember one of them. And my own book, Behind Enemy Lines, very, very popular books.

 

There is absolutely no way that they could be published today! So, as I say, we’ve slipped into a totalitarian state. We’ve got to accept that. You’re not going to see the headlines in the morning that Britain is now a totalitarian state, but it’s pretty damn obvious you can’t do anything, as the Republicans found out a few days ago during the Coronation, you can’t even hold a placard up now without the permission of the police! And that is a Police State.

 

I don’t care whether you’re Left or Right, Conservative or Labour or Liberal or Green, that is a totalitarian state! We’ve got to accept it and we’ve got to work our way through it, same as other people have done.

 

But they brought by mostly peaceful means, they brought the Soviet Union to this Eastern Bloc and the Soviet Union, actually, they brought it to its knees. There was very, very little violence. There was no violence at all, really, in the how many? 14 or 15 years from 1919 to 1933, when Adolf Hitler was elected, January 30, 1933. A lot of time passed.

 

But as Hitler, who was always against violence, he said himself that there were more people died in the two or three day abortive uprising, the Easter Uprising in Dublin, than died during the entire period of the National Socialist rise to power. So National Socialism and Fascism, it doesn’t have to have violence, just truth on his side, courage, and help those who are fighting on the front line. This is our weakness today. We don’t get behind our leaders, and that’s something that we should do!

So at the moment, Knife Madness, Merkel’s Mayhem brings an epidemic of knife crime to Germany. Then we’ve got Russian SU 35 jet nearly knocks Polish patrol plane out of the sky over the Black Sea. US presidential candidate blames CIA for JFK assassination. That’s Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Of course.

 

And then, “You can shove your Coronation up your arse”, which is basically what the Liverpool fans were singing, or certainly a significant enough section of them at a recent Liverpool football match, showing that not everybody was behind the Coronation.

 

And I just saw along the top, it just went past me, the slider “Mass roundup of anti-monarchists in London”. And I even saw a BBC article. I was just looking on the BBC site because it was a top headline, where the Met police have actually admitted that they regret arresting these people. I think it was kind of a knee jerk thing. It was a case of:

 

“This is the Coronation, we’re just going to take anyone away that we’re worried about and then we’ll worry about the consequences later.”

 

That’s the way I see it.

 

And so now they’re all quick to apologise now, but they’d have still done the same thing in hindsight, in my opinion, because they just wanted that, whatever you want to call the Coronation, they wanted that to run without a hitch as much as possible. So they might claim to be regretful now, but as I say, I doubt they have done anything differently. What are your thoughts, Mike, before we go?

 

Mike Walsh: Yeah, they’re very selective in applying and dragging on the kid gloves. I remember a long time ago, must be 50 years ago, it was three or four of us, we went to Chester, beautiful city, and we took a part of the payment. We were not under anybody’s feet and we lifted three or four placards up, End Immigration Now, that’s all. End Immigration Now, Keep Britain, White, that sort of thing, very inoffensive. Within two minutes, the police came onto us and removed us. They said:

 

“Take your banners down and move away from here, otherwise we’ll all be arrested!”

 

And that was 50 or 60 years ago. But you’re seeing now these climate activists and all the rest of it, they’re gluing themselves to motorways. They’re calling in the most awful mayhem.

 

Well, I’ll tell you, if those ecology minded people were to lift a placard saying, Keep Britain, White, then they will not see the same kid gloves with them. The people who go into museums and art galleries and throw paint over priceless artifacts and paintings and sculptures and things like that, they get the kid glove treatment. But if any one of them was a Conservative, they would get 15 years in jail and fines up to 100,000! They would bankrupt them!

So it’s a very political, politicised political structure now, police structure. So the Left-wing can get away with more or less anything. The black power movement, the Black Rights movement and all the rest of it. It seems to me that there’s nothing they can do that is going to end them up in a jail.

 

But we’ve seen the gentleman that you were talking about earlier, just for something perfectly innocent, he should have been a little bit more diligent in what he was sending out. You got to be careful, and he wasn’t careful, so they will grab him.

 

There are lots of journalists out there who are saying things, but they’re not anti-State, so we are living in a totalitarian State. Please accept it and respond to it by working sensibly within it, work within the rules, and that will frustrate the people who want you behind bars. They want you behind bars. Don’t help them, as this gentleman obviously did.

David Frost: Thank you. Thank you and good evening. Tonight our subject is Sir Oswald Mosley, whom many of you will remember. Sir Oswald.

 

I think that there are two pictures of you. One is of the brilliant economist, the possible future Prime Minister, man of wit and charm, who’s able to look ahead economically a good deal better than many of his political colleagues. All of that I could not take away from you, if I wished. And I do not wish.

 

 

The second is a confused picture of Mosley, the East End riots, fascism, anti-semitism. And all of that I want to talk to you about.

 

But first I want to begin on the economic front. What was your diagnosis of Britain’s economic ills, position, solution, briefly in 1930?

 

 

 

Oswald Mosley: Well, I think it’s good to begin there. Because really that is the origin of the whole trouble, or the whole business. And I’m afraid it’s now recurring. It is coming back, really.

 

The question was whether in the 30s traditional normal methods could deal with the unemployment problem or not. I was then a Minister in the government charged with dealing with unemployment. I produced a policy within that labour government, the Keynesian background, all his modern monetary theories, but a concrete, definite policy for dealing with unemployment. That is, to put to work about 7000 or 800,000 people at once.

 

And beyond that, there were plans for reconstructing the country and bringing us into a Commonwealth system which would permanently eliminate unemployment, and enable a balanced economy with a high purchasing power for all the people of the Commonwealth to be creating.

 

David Frost: Now, we all know about 1930, and at that time everyone indeed spoke when you made this diagnosis of your brilliant future and so on. You said in that what you were just saying, that it seems similar to you that things are coming back now. Why do you say, specifically, that the situation now is similar to then?

 

 

 

Oswald Mosley: Yes, I think so, and I’ll tell you exactly why. The basic trouble then quite different to the present situation was an overproduction in relation to the given market. That is, the purchasing part of the Western world was not sufficient to absorb the goods which industry were producing.

 

And at that time, as much in America, the technocrats as they were then called, who are highly paid engineers of American industry, were showing that the productive potential of America was so enormous that existing measures could not possibly absorb it. And as a result was unemployment, enormous unemployment there, and also here.

 

Temporarily, that was solved by the doubling of the gold price by Roosevelt, but very temporarily, because that was wearing off after three or four years.

 

Now, that’s not the only problem, that’s the general problem.

 

The particular problem was the inability of Britain in this top heavy island to sell nearly a third of its total production on the markets of the world in open competition. Originally, we had a monopoly position on the markets of the world. That was passing away and we were subject to intensive competition and failing to do it.

 

Now, these factors have been masked in the post war world, first of all by the armament boom before the war, then by the war itself, then by two small wars, Korea, and this new war in Vietnam, which of course absorbed an enormous proportion of world and American production in particular. And that has masked and concealed the situation completely. There’s been a world boom.

 

David Frost: And what are the political parallels now then?

 

Oswald Mosley: The parallel is on that situation of developing crisis. It’s only just beginning, so you’re only just beginning to feel the effects of that, it having been masked so long. But in that developing crisis, the government of the day does precisely what it did before that is coming in on a socialist or advanced program. It takes over at once the position of its opponents and applies conservative policies, even more conservative than the policies of the Conservative Party. And fails to meet the situation, holding the pound with deflation and all the old traditional measures and failing to meet it. That is why the situation now is exactly the same.

 

And then you get the call for devaluation and the rest of it, which may of course, occur at any time, not because they want it. The old lady never walks downstairs, she always falls downstairs!

 

David Frost: And when this crisis last emerged, you wanted a change of a form of government in this country to cope with it. What do you think is the ideal form of government for Britain today?

 

Oswald Mosley: Well, the first thing, if you want to do anything in the world, is to create a machinery to do it. I advocated in my resignation speech from the government, a machine of the civil servants, and businessmen, and others in Downing Street, which created in the modern term, a real powerhouse. They are now talking about doing something of the sort. But 30 years later.

 

The Daily Mirror wrote the other day, the powerhouse in Downing Street is one civil servant, one university Professor, and Colonel Wigg. Now they’ve lost Colonel Wigg. Back at square one.

 

David Frost: A frightful blow. But do you want to change the system today? Or do you think democracy is right for Britain today?

 

Oswald Mosley: That is the much larger question. I am absolutely convinced, for reasons I can give in detail if necessary, that Parliamentary control must be maintained, that is, that Parliament must be able, by vote of censure, to dismiss any government. Otherwise you may have people going mad and doing incredible things. We’ve had more than one example of that in recent years.

 

Therefore I am more than ever convinced it’s right to keep Parliamentary control. And when I gave evidence before the Parliamentary committee, soon after I resigned, I did insist then on Parliamentary control, subject to a right of government to act, so long as it retains the confidence of Parliament.

 

David Frost: Have you voted in a general election since 1930?

 

Oswald Mosley: I stood in a general election, yes. I stood in the last general election.

 

David Frost: Yes. But have you voted?

 

Oswald Mosley: No! I shouldn’t vote for either party.

 

David Frost: Because back in 1931, when you formed the new party.

 

Oswald Mosley: Yes.

 

David Frost: You had a great many influential supporters and so on. An impressive list at that stage. If you had, by some quirk, been asked to form a government in 1931, who would have been your principal ministers?

 

Oswald Mosley: Well, at that time, before I resigned from the government and immediately after, practically every young man that is, man under 50, young in Parliamentary terms, agreed with me. When I resigned from the government, made this speech, Conservative, Labour, Liberal, I can give names if necessary, but they’re well known. All agreed with me. But the for two reasons we could not get the consensus of the nation at that time.

 

David Frost: But who would have been your most important aides if you had formed a government in 1931?

 

Oswald Mosley: If I had formed a government in 1931 of young men on the Conservative side, far and away the ablest, I thought at that time was Oliver Stanley. Well, you hear very many other variable people.

 

For instance, McMillan at that time wrote a letter to The Times. It was very brave of him publicly supporting me. He mentions it in his memoirs. From the Conservative side, good many others, too. Anar [sp] Bevin signed my manifesto after I left the government.

 

David Frost: Labour.

 

Oswald Mosley: Labour and Liberals. The ablest of them, I think, at that time was Mond, afterwards became Millty [sp]. Not the old man, the ICI man, but his son.

 

David Frost: And do you think they would have accepted?

 

Oswald Mosley: Well, they did. They accepted my policy!

 

David Frost: And they would have joined your government?

 

Oswald Mosley: And if we had been in a position to form a government, which we were not, I think they would have joined. But we could not form a government because the party machines were still omnipotent. The party machines are immensely powerful in this country. And not until there’s a much greater crisis than there was then will that cease to be.

 

David Frost: Right. Now you have a position, you see, and here we come to it. That in 1931 you had a list of people, and an impressive list of people, who you felt would support you. Between then and probably 1930, 1935, those people deserted your movement, or deserted being associated with you.

 

And the main reason for that was that they were all convinced that you were anti-semitic, that you became anti-semitic. Why was that? Why did you let that impression get about? Why were you like that?

 

Oswald Mosley: That did not occur until sometime later. That was not the reason these people, …

 

David Frost: No. Well, in the first period, there was the first period when people left because your supporters seemed to be anti-semitic. And then the final, …

 

Oswald Mosley: No, I think that’s a slight confusion. They left me, that is, these well known MPs, the sort of people I’ve mentioned simply because we were coming to the election of 31, the triumph of the national government. The party machines were absolutely omnipotent, and no man who stood a chance, …

 

David Frost: Again, I’m talking about the way that your influential support in general slipped away. And it slipped away. And the reason that today people, when they hear you’re going to be on television or anywhere else want to watch, because they’re horrified by the prospect. The reason is that they are convinced and on the evidence I must say, I just don’t understand how you, why you, did this, or why you let it get about that you werec in that period and your movement, obviously was, but you were anti-semitic!

 

Oswald Mosley: Yeah. No. Well, I’ll deal with that. Certainly it’s very necessary to deal with.

 

David Frost: Well, deal with it now.

 

Oswald Mosley: Thirty two, when we started, 1932, anti-semitism was never mentioned. It was unknown to us. For two years the subject was never mentioned!

 

First time it was mentioned, Albert Hall, 34. And mentioned for one clear reason! Not anti-semitism. Because I contend and can prove that I’ve never been an anti-semite, who I define, as a man who’s against jews because they are born jews.

 

I, however, had a quarrel with certain jewish interests, not all jews, before the war, for a perfectly specific reason! I, rightly or wrongly, thought they wanted a war with Germany! Another World War! And I as an ex-serviceman, …

 

David Frost: And rightly or wrongly, did you?

 

Oswald Mosley: Rightly or wrongly, …

 

David Frost: Did you think it rightly or wrongly?

 

Oswald Mosley: I think it’s still right to say that some jews, many jews, for very good reasons, from their point of view, wanted a war with Germany!

 

David Frost: But you were not anti-semitic?

 

Oswald Mosley: I was not anti-semitic. And I defined it at the time. I have the evidence of it. You can prove it.

David Frost: Yeah. Now, I mean, just enlighten for me, because this would be valuable. What is the difference between your position, I mean, and it’s a tight one, and I’d like you to do it.

 

 

I think three quotes will suffice between your position and anti-semitism. The first quote was Bellevue, Manchester, where you said:

 

“The mention of the Empire makes the mob yell louder than ever. Let them destroy it if they can these jewish rascals. The red mob howls that we shall put them down. They are right. We shall put them down and we shall put the nation up.”

 

Then there was this one in 34, where you said:

 

“Behind the communist and socialist mob is the alien jewish financiers supplying the palm oil to make them yell!”

 

And in the third case, quoted again from a speech, you said:

 

“The great and powerful were afraid when our fascist movement opened it’s crusade against jewry. Up to three years ago, anti-semitism was unknown as a strong force in Great Britain. Today, in any audience in Britain, the strongest passion that can be aroused is the passion against the corruption of jewish power. It is not we who perish in the struggle!”

 

Now, what is the difference between those three quotes, particularly the last one, and anti-semitism?

 

Oswald Mosley: Yeah, I’ll tell you exactly. We were in the fight with the jews, or many jews. I won’t say all. A tremendous fight! And I hit them as they were hitting me with everything I’d got. When I talk about the jewish rascals was yelling at me, they were yelling at me and attacking my meetings with razors, bludgeons, weapons of every sort! And I had to organize the black shirt movement in this country in order to maintain order at all.

David Frost: But you say, … Yes, I know all about that. But you say here that:

 

“We started our campaign against jewry, up to three years ago. Anti-semitism was unknown as a strong force in Great Britain!”

 

Doesn’t sound as though you disapprove of it very strongly.

 

Oswald Mosley: No. It was unknown until they came out, as I thought, and as I still think, for good reasons, from their point of view, to provoke a World War. I wanted to stop the war. They wanted to have the war! And we had a head on collision! I fought many men in the past about various things whom I don’t fight today. The folly is to continue a fight when the reason for the fight is over. Why battle with them for being jews? That’s why I’m not an anti-semite.

 

David Frost: But why, in that case, did you condone all the violence that was practiced by your supporters, in the 30s, against jews, going down into the East End?

 

Oswald Mosley: Now, wait a moment. Let’s look at that very closely. What meetings of other people were ever broken up by our people? It was our meetings were attacked! I’d had the largest meeting, …

 

David Frost: But you went down and held meetings in jewish areas in the East End. You marched through jewish areas!

 

Oswald Mosley: No!

 

David Frost: Provocation.

 

Oswald Mosley: That’s been stated again and again and is quite untrue!

 

David Frost: Anybody, …

 

Audience One: [words unclear]

 

Oswald Mosley: All right, I challenge.

 

David Frost: Can you turn a camera, …

 

Audience One: It was 200,000 East Londoners that stopped you marching through. The dockers, the clothing workers, the shop assistants, stopped you, and even the biggest police force they could muster couldn’t push you through. We beat you then and we’ll beat you again! And we beat your friend Adolf Hitler! But we were predecessors, …

 

 

 

David Frost: Can we just move this camera here a bit to one side so that, … Sorry, yeah, but so that Sir Oswald can see the person.

 

Audience One: Why would they, …

 

David Frost: Right, just the gentleman in the front.

 

 

 

Audience One: I was making the point. Mosley at the moment tries to present himself as sweet and reasonable. He’s not anti-semitic? Here’s a picture of him in 1962 with the leader of the neo-Nazi party in Germany, rapidly calling for a re-division of frontiers. The leader of the Belgian fascists. The leader of the Italian fascist. And a face, … This was published in your fascist paper. That’s blacked out, or whited out, there it is [pointing to a photo he is holding]. There it is.

 

 

Who is this mystery man that you weren’t prepared to show in your own paper? A war criminal?

 

 

You are now busy going around Europe trying to rebuild your crooked cross international. You failed once, but you hope that the revival of German Nazis in Western Germany, the old gang coming out of their holes again, will give you another opportunity, even though you’re an old decaying element in this country!

 

 

 

[audience applauds]

 

David Frost: Okay, just a moment.

 

Audience One: There’s a picture of him, sweet and reasonable! Look at it! Trying to preach to the people of East London.

 

 

 

David Frost: Here, just a minute. Let him answer!

 

 

 

Oswald Mosley: Well, now you’ve had your speech, can I say a few words in reply? Now, it’s divided into two parts. Your question. First of all, you say I’m in alliance with anti-semitic elements in Europe.

 

 

And secondly, you say, I held provocative, or bullying marches through East London. I’ll answer the first point first. None of the men in that photograph are anti-semite, or ever have been! None of them! None of those parties, none of them! They’ve all specifically disclaimed it. Every single one of the men in that picture have declared against anti-semitism. And what you say is completely untrue!

 

Audience One: Hitler was an anti-semite, but you were his ally!

 

 

 

Oswald Mosley: No, I was not his ally.

 

Audience One: [words unclear] [shouting]

 

Oswald Mosley: Now you see how we had to fight for free speech. When you show pictures of me, when you show pictures of me in uniform, it was because men like you came by the score to our meetings. Enormous meetings, like that in Exhibition Hall, London, 30,000 people are coming to listen to us, which was in perfect order, because we’d stopped people like you breaking up the meetings. And I did that with the Black Shirt movement. And I’m proud to have organized and led the Black Shirt movement to restore free speech to Britain!

 

[Parts of the audience breaks out shouting.]

 

Audience One: Heckling is part of the British tradition! And until, …

 

Oswald Mosley: Heckling was not something done. Shouting down, which is what you’re doing. Shouting down!

 

 

Audience One: No heckler had ever been beaten, and kicked, and had bones broken, and sent off to hospital! Never! Not since the ancient times. But, you started a fashion that you learnt from your friend Adolf Hitler! You thought the anti-semitic, …

 

David Frost: Just a minute. Let him answer.

 

Oswald Mosley: You want to bring the meeting, as your friends often tried before, to a close and stop the speaker, either of the speakers, having their say. And that is why we organized to put people like you out, when you denied free speech in Britain! And it was a right and proper thing to do! And they were magnificent young men, and I’m proud to have led and organized them to put people like you out at a meeting!

Yes, very well. You will not allow other people to speak! And you are doing here what you’ve always done, denying free speech to other people. And that is precisely why I put the people like you out of our meeting. And I do it again!

 

Now, do you want? Do you want to hear the answer?

 

[Audience applauds the heckler.]

 

David Frost: Look, let him answer [directed at the heckler]. You’re arguing his case by not letting him speak.

 

Oswald Mosley: Yes, you proved the case very well. Thank you. As Mr. Frost points out [slight applause from audience]. Now, oh yes, you proved it very well with people like you, …

 

David Frost: Answer the question now.

 

Oswald Mosley: We’ll answer now. The thing we want to answer now is the question of East London, which Mr. Frost raised. And I should answer.

 

I have never marched through areas like White Chapel! Never held meetings in White Chapel. Since in 1931, a well known jew was my candidate there, so I had no need to march through. I stood in Bethel Green, or our people stood in the 37 election. We polled 23% in Bethel Green, 19% in Limehouse and 14% in Shortage [sp]. Are you seriously contending that we had no right to hold meetings in areas where we got votes like that?

 

Audience One: May I deal with that?

 

David Frost: No, just a minute, I want to just follow up this for 1 second. You were saying in answering all that, you were talking about where you marched and where you didn’t march. And that you were not anti-semitic. And I must say I’m not convinced on that point.

 

However, let us talk also, in addition to being non-convincing there, on the subject of your supporters.

 

There is no doubt, there is no possibility of denying the fact that people who said they were supporters of yours engaged in vicious, provocative acts, against jewish people in the London area. Did you ever dissociate yourself from that conduct? Did you dissociate yourself?

Oswald Mosley: Yes!

 

David Frost: When?

 

Oswald Mosley: Not only did I, … By expelling them from our movement!

 

David Frost: All of them?

 

Oswald Mosley: Anybody we found doing that was expelled at once! Because it was not allowed! For one thing, …

Oswald Mosley: Yes, he was expelled from our movement. I threw him out. Thank you very much. I threw him out three years before the war, for that reason, among others. People were expelled who did that kind of thing! And we maintained our position of fighting fairly by political means, winning votes in East London, as we won votes everywhere at that time!

 

Audience One: On the basis of stirring up race hate! On the basis of appealing to the lowest instincts of people! In the same way as Hitler won his mass support by dividing people! Saying the jews are to blame and not anybody else! You thought you’d use the same tactic!

 

Oswald Mosley: Not at all. Do you want the answer, or do you want to shout?

 

Audience One: I’d like to have the truth, instead, …

 

David Frost: Please be quiet!

 

Oswald Mosley: I fought some jews, because I thought and I still think they were trying to make a war with Germany! And yes, in the 1930s they were doing it! From 1934 till the end!

 

Audience One: [words unclear] [shouting]

 

Oswald Mosley: And they came out, they came out in, ….

 

Well, that man is proving my case up to the hilt! That’s the sort of thing we’d have had the whole time. Never a word of reason or argument heard! Like I’m trying to have with Mr. Frost. Because people like that are imported to make free speech impossible. He’s proving my case, up to the hilt!

 

Now, as far as I and Hitler go, the answer is this. I declared in a speech in 1934, which I think was one of the speeches from which quotations have been made, that we could never have any racial policy in Great Britain because we were running a multiracial empire. The German problem was completely different.

 

Audience One: [words unclear] [shouting]

 

Oswald Mosley: The Germans were anti-semitic, and I was not!

 

Audience One: What about this?

 

Oswald Mosley: You can show anything you like. It’s all on public record. We certainly have always been against the import of aliens, not only jews, but people from abroad, into the overcrowded housing areas of Britain, while our own people had no houses to live in!

 

David Frost: Right.

 

Oswald Mosley: So I was against it then, and I am now!

David Frost: Right. Sir Oswald. So okay. Now, in all of this, you’ve been going on about all of this, and you’ve been dealing with the various points that have come up. But now you are saying absolutely, definitely, that anybody who was guilty of anti-semitism was expelled from your party, and so on. How can you possibly say that as if you expect people to believe it, when everybody who watched the events of the 30s, whoever you talk to, knows and associates your party totally, with racial hatred, and anti-semitism?

 

Either what you’re saying is not true, or you were the most ineffectual, put upon, unable to impose his leadership on a party, leader that has ever been seen!

 

[loud applause from audience]

 

Oswald Mosley: That is a quite false dilemma. We were in a fight! I should not expel every man who was fighting with jews in the street, particularly if they attacked us with razors and other weapons! We were in a fight! That’s why we wore uniform in order to deal with men like this, who broke up our meetings by organized violence!

 

Audience One: [words unclear] [shouting]

 

Oswald Mosley: And, of course, I would not expel Black Shirts who fought jews in the street, when they were attacked by jews! What I would expel is a man who went around saying that we should deal with all jews in a horrible fashion. He would mistreat them, or bully them. Not at all!

 

We were fighting jews for one reason to stop a war with Germany! As an ex-serviceman of the first war, in air and trenches, I was determined to stop another war if I possibly could!

 

Audience Two: May I deal with it?

 

David Frost: All right.

 

Audience One: May I deal with this?

 

David Frost: No. Let someone else speak. Gentlemen in the third row.

 

Audience Three: You say you are never anti-semitic except the jews individually. What did you think of von Streicher*, who was the most rabid anti-semite in the history of the world?

 

[*Der Stürmer was a weekly German tabloid-format newspaper published from 1923 to the end of the Second World War by Julius Streicher, the Gauleiter of Franconia, with brief suspensions in publication due to legal difficulties.]

 

Oswald Mosley: Streicher? Streicher. Well, he, not only he, but the whole German party was anti-semitic! That is, they condemned jews because they were born jews!

Audience Three: Streicher sent you a Telegram.

 

Oswald Mosley: No, that’s not proved. I’ve had that before. I have absolutely no recollection of it.

 

Audience Three: [words unclear]

 

But wait a moment. Wait a moment! If it was true, which it didn’t, I was trying to keep peace with Germany. That is why twice in the 1930s I went to Germany. And I don’t care what a man’s politics are, or what his opinion. I’m not going to sacrifice young English lives because I don’t like his politics or his opinion!

 

Audience Three: May I read your Telegram to Streicher?

 

Oswald Mosley: No. First of all, I don’t believe it to be true. You can read it if you like. I don’t care. But it is not a true Telegram. And if it was, I wouldn’t mind.

 

Audience Three: The Telegram reads:

 

“I greatly esteem your message. In the midst of our hard struggle, the forces of jewish corruption must be overcome in all great countries before the future of Europe can be made secure in justice and peace. Our struggle is hard, but our victory is certain!”

 

And the Manchester Guardian, and the German paper, printed this Telegram and you never at the time denied it!

 

Oswald Mosley: Well, would you like to have the answer?

 

Audience Three: [words unclear]

 

David Frost: No.

 

Oswald Mosley: Would you permit me to reply? No, you won’t.

 

David Frost: Will you please be quiet?

Oswald Mosley: No, you won’t permit me. Right. Now the answer is this, as I’ve already told you, we were in a fight with those jewish interests in this country in order to stop a war with Germany! And anyone in any country who supported us in that, I would send a greeting Telegram, too. Although I think I did not send a Telegram at that time! Anyhow, it doesn’t matter.

 

David Frost: Sir Oswald, I think that the main point to emerge from that first half, when voices were not indeed speaking in concert, was the feeling that seems to be absolutely general among this audience about the way they see your campaign in the 30s. And in the same time, the way that they see your relationship with Hitler, as a damaging fact.

 

If Hitler had survived at the end of the war, would you be in favour of his being tried and convicted for war crimes?

 

Oswald Mosley: Yes. I think anyone who has committed crimes should always be tried, under whatever law exists.

 

David Frost: And would you have thought that he would have been, and should have been, found guilty?

 

Oswald Mosley: I have said again and again that the murder of the jews in the concentration camps was an outrageous, and vile crime. I’ve said that again and again.

 

[Audience member: You deny it!]

 

David Frost: When did you first say that?

 

Oswald Mosley: Ever since the war. The moment I was convinced that it had happened.

 

[Audience heckling loudly]

 

David Frost: Just a minute, please.

 

Oswald Mosley: That’s quite untrue.

 

David Frost: When did you first say, admit this fact, about the jews in the concentration camps?

 

Oswald Mosley: Very soon. Very soon after the war. I think. When the Nuremberg trials had taken place. When the evidence was clear. Quite frankly, when I first saw it, I did not believe it. I then saw not only the results of Nuremberg, but I saw German friends. And while I don’t think nearly so many were killed as were supposed to be killed, that doesn’t matter! It doesn’t matter! Because any crime, the murder of any defenseless prisoner is a crime! And everybody must detest it, particularly professional soldiers. I was brought up as, one must despise and detest the crime of killing defenseless prisoners!

 

David Frost: Yes, but I mean, the thing is that, and not just prisoners, but the jews in general. But I mean, as late as 1947 you were telling press conferences you were against the Nuremberg Trials and you didn’t believe it. So it clearly wasn’t as soon after the war as you say, but clearly you were backing, …

 

Oswald Mosley: Can I deal with that? The Nuremberg trials. I am against people being judge, jury and prosecuting counsel in their own court. You ought to have an impartial tribunal and everyone, on each side, who’s committed crimes ought to be tried. What about the people who dropped a bomb on Hiroshima when the war was over? Is that not a crime? Is all crime to be one sided? Is morality a one way street? Where are we getting in all this humbug?

 

David Frost: I don’t think, actually, that Nuremberg trials can be described as humbug and nonsense. They seem to be dealing with a fairly serious subject.

 

Oswald Mosley: Humbug and nonsense if it’s one sided.

 

David Frost: But it wasn’t one sided. You’re saying now that you, in fact, in the 30s backed and imitated a man who turned out to be a monster?

 

Oswald Mosley: No! Imitation is completely untrue!

 

David Frost: All right, let’s just take a look at this piece of film.

 

Oswald Mosley: Can I answer that point?

 

David Frost: Well, you can just watch the film first.

 

Oswald Mosley: Right.

 

[Film of Mosely walking among a crowd of applauding supporters, giving the “Roman salute”, and then speaking]

 

“Sooner or later in the lives of great nations comes the moment of decision! Comes the moment of destiny! And this nation again and again in the great hours of its fate has swept aside convention, has swept aside the little man of talk and of delay, and have decided to follow men and movements! That day we go forward to action, let who dare follow us in this hour! That is the permanent almighty mood of Britain. And I came that in the ranks of our black shirt legions, [word unclear], and mighty ghosts of England’s past are [word unclear] their strong arms around us, on their voices echo down the ages, saying onward!”

 

David Frost: That is one of two people speaking there. It’s reminiscent either of Hitler, or of Charlie Chaplin’s great dictator. Which is it?

 

[Audience laughs and applauds]

 

Oswald Mosley: Oh? That’s a very smart question. Personally, I think it’s a very good speech about England’s greatness. To which we’ve all just listened. I’m very glad, …

 

David Frost: What’s all that business? [giving the “Roman salute”]

 

Oswald Mosley: But don’t, you know what that is? What an incredible question! That is a salute 2,000 years before Hitler was born.

 

David Frost: Of course it was a salute 2,000 years. But whose salute was it in the 30s? Whose salute was it in the 30s!

 

Oswald Mosley: First Mussolini and then Hitler.

 

David Frost: And who is it reminiscent of there? Everyone in that audience, …

 

Oswald Mosley: Are you saying that Hitler imitated Mussolini?

 

David Frost: No, I’m saying that everyone in that audience is not going to think, oh, there’s old Ossie [Oswald] imitating someone from 2000 years ago!

 

[Audience breaks out in laughter and applauds loudly.]

Oswald Mosley: Anyhow, that was the origin. And I think a good many people in England have enough historical sense to know why all the movements from the Renaissance in Europe adopted the European salute. Which wasn’t adopted by Hitler, Mussolini or anybody else, but was taken over by us all because it was a European salute! And because we were fighting against people who gave the clenched fist salute! And it was an answer to that!

 

An answer to the Communist International. The results of which you’ve seen recently and the support of the old parties for people like Philby, MacLean, and the rest of it. And that’s what we were fighting, and giving the salute of European manhood. And I’m proud of it!

 

David Frost: In other words, fine words and we can all take them at their face value. In other words, would you say that the wrong side won the war?

 

Oswald Mosley: No, certainly not. I’m for my country, and offered to fight for my own country, as I’d done before.

 

You people come along now and talk as if we’d never fought for Britain. I fought for Britain in the air, and I fought for Britain in the trenches! And I offered to fight in the last war the moment the life of Britain was at stake! And yet I claimed the liberty, I claimed the liberty to persuade the British people by my voice, if I could, to make peace! I claimed that liberty! And it was denied me by putting me in jail to stop me making speeches!

 

David Frost: And on balance, would you say that Hitler, it was better, or would have not been better, if Hitler had ever existed?

 

Oswald Mosley: No, certainly better that he should not ever have existed, because his existence led to 25 million Europeans being killed! And if I had my way, those 25 million would be alive today, including 6 million jews who never would have been killed if there hadn’t been a war! They made the greatest mistake they ever made when they produced that war!

 

David Frost: And who was most of all responsible for the 1939 to 45 war?

 

Oswald Mosley: I’ll tell you exactly. Hitler began it by driving east. And he would undoubtedly have destroyed Communist Russia in so doing! We intervened and declared war to prevent him doing it!

 

And the result is that Britain today is tossed to and fro between America and Russia. We’ve lost the empire! We’ve lost our position! And we had 25 million Europeans killed! And I’m prouder than anything in my life of having done my utmost to stop that suicidal war which has destroyed Great Britain!

 

David Frost: And you would, in fact feel, you said in 39, so you said those incredible words in 1939.

 

Oswald Mosley: Tell me what they were.

 

David Frost: Where you said that this was:

 

“Simply a jewish financier’s quarrel.”

 

You don’t think at that time we had a moral choice to take, as to whether we were going to try and prevent all that Hitler was doing?

 

Oswald Mosley: A clear and fair question, which I’ll certainly answer. No, we had not! And I’ll tell you why.

 

When Mr. Gladstone wanted to have a war with Turkey in order to stop the Armenians being badly treated, the leader of the opposition. Mr Disraeli, a jew, opposed him with success. And that’s traditional British policy. If we run around the world fighting wars for anyone who’s having a bad time anywhere, you will never have peace for the rest of your time. And you’ll have world death because now you’ll fight with nuclear weapons.

 

David Frost: Now we come to the crunch point.

 

Oswald Mosley: Please.

 

David Frost: We started at the beginning with the story of a man who was in 1930, promising. Who could have been a future prime minister. Who made a gigantic miscalculation in 1931 in thinking he could form his own party and carry the country with him.

 

Who then, in order to somehow give the fuel for that movement, allowed it to become the vehicle, let’s be very euphemistic about it, the vehicle for a great deal of racial hatred and anti-semitism! That kept the movement going. It wouldn’t have got kept going, but it destroyed it.

 

Now, why a man as promising and as intelligent as you, couldn’t you see that the decisions, or lack of decisions of you in the 30s were in the short term, evil! And in the long term totally disastrous! So that today you’re either a hated, or a joke figure! You can never regain that lost ground. Why did you make that mistake? It’s a personal tragedy.

 

Oswald Mosley: Let me take you up on that. I have dealt with the jewish question. But of course, it wasn’t that in the slightest which got us going. It was unemployment. You never heard of unemployment? There was terrific unemployment! That was the origin of our movement and of these movements in every country. Unemployment! Vile housing! The other failure of government to do it!

 

And that’s why I got going! And I was right when I could not get the old parties in Parliament to act to try to form a new movement. And I was right, in my view, to try to stop the World War!

 

David Frost: And today you have nothing to show for it. And when your candidates stand in elections, they try and choose in 66, the three areas where they can capitalize most on racial unrest, and they end up with an average of just over 3% of the votes. There’s nothing left to show for your movement. What went wrong?

 

Oswald Mosley: That, again, is quite untrue. There is no racial problem of where I stood. Whatever! Absolutely none!

 

David Frost: 3%.

 

Oswald Mosley: I polled 4.8%. Not 3%.

 

David Frost: You polled four point, … Just a minute. You polled 4.8%. Just a minute, please. Just a minute. 4.8%. A colleague of yours, 4.6%. And another two point, …

 

Oswald Mosley: We averaged 3.7. We averaged 3.7.

 

David Frost: That’s fair.

 

Oswald Mosley: And if you must talk so much about Hitler, who doesn’t interest me very much, we pulled just about double what he did five years before he got power. So don’t be too cocky about that!

 

David Frost: And do you think one day you may still get power?

 

Oswald Mosley: Well, there are two ways of getting power. One is by, …

Oswald Mosley: Now we’re getting to the point, which, of course, you want us to miss. Now, there are two ways of getting power. One is by a consensus of the people of the nation, and agreement of everything vital in the country coming together, which I strove for before, and believe we can now possibly attain in the coming crisis.

 

The other way is to build up a grassroots movement of the people. But never do it until the first method has failed. In life, always try to do things gently, and only get tough when you have to get tough!

 

David Frost: All right. And with Sir Oswald Moses message in life, always try to do things gently. We’ll say goodnight.
