TRANSCRIPT
(25:55 mins)
Judge Napolitano: When last we spoke, one of the last things you said to me, and I wrote a note to remind myself to ask you about it the next time we were together. You said that none of the senior generals in the American Department of Defense want to fight in Ukraine.
And since you said that to me, you have written a brilliant and terrific piece in Foreign Affairs called “This Time It’s Different”, and your opening line is nearly the same. That’s a little bit more sweeping. It says:
“Neither we nor our allies are prepared to fight an all out war with Russia, regionally or globally.”
So can you weigh in on these two statements? Why would generals be leaking that they don’t want to fight? Are we militarily, and from an equipment perspective, incapable of fighting Russia today in Ukraine or anywhere else?
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, I don’t know about the leaking bit. Depends on who you talk to. I’m simply saying that based upon my sources in the Department of Defense, people who are close to the senior military leadership tell me that they have made it very clear that choosing to fight Russia in Ukraine would be a serious mistake and should be avoided. That’s what they’ve said. And I think they’re being honest about that, and I think they’re being truthful for a change.
The second part is, are we capable of fighting? Well, of course we’re capable of fighting. The real question is, if you’re going to fight, will you win? And this is the question that people don’t ask enough. This goes back to an old strategic axiom:
“Measure what you might gain by what you might lose.”
A collision with Russia would be a loss for us. There’s nothing to be gained by it. The Russians have nothing that we need or want. There’s no ideological hostility. We’re not competing for power or control over any particular region. Russia’s dispute is exclusively with Ukraine. We’re a large part of the reason why the dispute exists. There’s no question about that.
But we can end that tomorrow morning, if we decide to, by simply saying:
“We fought long enough. Russia has the upper hand. Zelensky, sit down, shut up, and take notes!”
We must have a ceasefire, but first we have to agree to negotiations without preconditions.
Judge Napolitano: Does Washington want to fight Russia, via a proxy war?
Col Doug Macgregor: I think they did. I think they regretted at this point, to be blunt with you. No one will admit it publicly, but if you go back to the donor conference where Lloyd Austin spoke to the gathered donors from NATO and other nations, and said:
“We have a very short time left, a very short window of time in which to make things happen, and time is running out.”
I mean, I quoted him in the op-ed piece for that reason. He knows, everyone in Washington in a position of authority now knows, Ukraine is losing. Ukrainian resistance is crumbling. The state itself is in danger of going out of existence. That’s how bad it is.
So the theory is, well, if we can give them anything within the next 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 days, perhaps we can rescue them from disaster. I don’t see much evidence for that, but I think that’s the theory.
Judge Napolitano: Can Ukraine survive as a country if Putin pursues this war all out, whether for military reasons or for domestic Russian political reasons?
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, the first thing to keep in mind, and this is something of which I was not aware until I consulted with a friend who’s done some excellent demographic analysis.
And he points out that at the beginning of this war, there were, at least in theory, 37.5 million Ukrainians in Ukraine. He makes the point that today that’s not the case. There were already 2,000,000 Ukrainians working in either Great Britain or the European Union. Outside of the country you now have 4,000,000 Ukrainian citizens, albeit Russians, people who speak Russian, living under Russian occupation or administration right now, in the provinces in the south. Then you have over 10,000,000 Ukrainians that have fled the country.
Judge Napolitano:10,000,000! That’s a third of the country, or a quarter of the country.
Col Doug Macgregor: Yeah. You’ve got a million that have gone into Russia and the rest that have headed west. Now, to this must be added the losses. And again, no one is telling us the truth in the West about the horrific losses that Ukraine has taken.
You’ve heard me say about 157,000 dead on the battlefield. That includes 35,000 missing in action, presumed dead. And I’ve talked about a total of almost 400,000 casualties. People that are wounded. In most cases, not all, but in most cases, more than half of those will never return to duty, because the wounds are too horrific. In other words, they’re permanently lost to the Ukrainian fight.
Now, supposedly, when Zalujiani was in town speaking to Secretary Austin and General Milley, several people have insisted that he actually told them that 257,000 Ukrainians have died. That includes soldiers, in other words, those in uniform, civilians, all types, all kinds. 257,000. Well, we don’t know. That’s an unconfirmed rumor.
But what it does tell you is that today in Ukraine, there are roughly between 18 and, 22,000,000 people left in the country under Zelensky’s control. Now, Judge, that number is roughly the same as the number of people living in the Netherlands. You cannot sustain this war with that small population!
Judge, I’m not hearing you.
[06:28]
Judge Napolitano: Can you hear me now?
Col Doug Macgregor: Got you.
Judge Napolitano: Okay. Apologies. Watching and listening. Sometimes I’m all thumbs. I want to play a clip from Jack Devine. This is a guy that our audience loves to hate. He is, however, career CIA and for many years was in charge of American espionage in Russia and monitoring Russian espionage here.
Here’s Jack Devine betting on a Ukraine win:
“I’m betting on the Ukrainian still. It’s not to say that the Russians aren’t going to be formidable. I do think there will be under trained. Sometimes you create something big and it’s not well trained. They become cannon fodder.
So I think it’s going to be a really tough spring, and I think the war in many ways will be decided. There won’t be a victor. In other words, the Russians cannot conquer Ukraine. And the Ukrainians are not going to beat the Russians. There’s a certain point where both sides pull back. Even if you don’t have an agreement, they lower their intensity. And that’s what I think Putin personally is in trouble in his own country, and I think he goes. That’s why the stakes are so big.”
So he’s suggesting that this will be over when both sides lower their intensity. And if Putin does that quote, “he goes”, because that will not be interpreted as a victory for the Russian nationalists. Your comments on that, Colonel?
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, remember, the CIA has been telling us lies almost from the very beginning about everything happening in Russia.
Judge Napolitano: Well, when Mike Pompeo was running the CIA, he publicly acknowledged that’s their job, to lie to us. So how do you know, whether to believe them or not?
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, they do a very good job of lying! The problem is they’re lying to Americans. And this man, Devine knows absolutely nothing about Russians. I don’t care what his job was or about Ukrainians or the Slavic peoples that occupy Eastern Europe.
The Russians are winning! Ukraine is crumbling! Ukraine is on the verge of collapse. We’re going to watch that happen over the next several weeks. The Russians will crush out of existence what remains of the Ukrainian armed forces. And I think they’ll have to go after this regime, assuming Zelensky and his friends don’t rapidly flee the country to Poland or somewhere else.
Now, having said that, the Russians are being very methodical, very deliberate. They are moving constantly, but they are not moving on multiple axes simultaneously.
In other words, you’re not going to see the “Blitz Krieg”. What you’re going to see on several axes are what I would call “large meat grinders” that are just systematically plowing forward, annihilating everything that they come in touch with that is Ukrainian. Until the Ukrainians are finished, there is no incentive for them at this point to negotiate with us unless we go in without conditions.
Would the Russians prefer not to annihilate everything in Ukraine? Yes! They never went in there with that goal to begin with. But you can’t walk in there and say, well, the only way we’ll talk to you is if you withdraw all of your forces from Ukraine and Crimea. That’s absurd!
Judge Napolitano: What you’re saying is there’s no way that Ukraine, and I’m now paraphrasing you from the column, which I mentioned earlier, there’s no way Ukraine can survive this war as an intact country.
Col Doug Macgregor: Listen I just told you what the demographics say, and what’s even worse is that Ukraine has the lowest birth rate in Europe. In addition to having lost millions of people, because, frankly, people like Devine and his masters have decided to wage this war on the backs of Ukraine. Ukraine is destroyed. I don’t know what survives of it. I have no idea what will happen.
Judge Napolitano: Even though I am your friend and admirer and at times your student, let me raise your blood pressure one more time with Jack Devine on a weakened Russia:
“Do we want a strong Russia with Putin? Is that going to bring us peace and harmony so we can live in isolation? I think Putin, the day he crossed, I’m on record in The Washington Post in March last year, a few days after he made it. He’s so seeded his own demise. That is actually good news for us! Whoever causes it, that’s a good news. A weak Russia that sees Putin going weakens China as well as Russia!”
Does that make sense to you?
Col Doug Macgregor: Again, I think the man is delusional. Putin has never been stronger than he is today. The Russian people have never been more united than they are today. Only someone who’s never spent any time in the country and doesn’t know anybody over there would make such preposterous statements. This is part of the larger false narrative?
Look, he reminds me of some of the Germans that stood around in Berlin and 45 and asked, you know what about the inevitable victory:
“What’s wrong? What’s happened?”
Because the regime over the previous 6 to 12 months had lied so consistently and effectively that the Germans were surprised to see Russian and American troops on the outskirts of the city.
All I can tell you is that, no, he’s dead wrong!
Now, let’s talk about this weakened Russia business. It’s not weakened. The IMF has now stepped forward and talked about growth in Russia dramatically improving. Their exports are way up. None of this nonsense that we anticipated that was bad has happened to Russia. Russia is in a very strong and healthy position. We, on the other hand, our growth is declining, and it’s not going to get better in the near term.
Secondly, Russia is a state with an important role in Central Asia and Eastern Europe. If Russia were to be destroyed, which is not going to happen, if it were to weaken, it would open up opportunities for all sorts of potentially malicious actors to intervene.
First of all, Eastern Siberia is not of much interest to the Chinese, contrary to popular belief. But it’s very interesting to Japan, and Korea. And the Japanese and the Koreans view Eastern Siberia as their territory because up until about 300 years ago, Mongols, Turkic peoples, Tartars, they were the only people in the region, and their brothers of the Manchus, Mongols and Japanese and Koreans.
So do you really want Russia to collapse in Eastern Siberia? I don’t think so. you go into Central Asia, Russia is a stabilizing factor there. In fact, Xi depends upon Russia to help stabilize it because the people in Central Asia have much more confidence and trust in the Russians than they do in the Chinese.
Judge Napolitano: How unified is NATO behind Washington?
Col Doug Macgregor: It isn’t!
Judge Napolitano: You’re right. I’m going to play a clip for you in a minute from the president of Croatia.
It’s not Germany. It’s not France. It’s Croatia. But the language is very strident and the criticisms of the West are very strong and articulate. Take a listen:
I’m not the president of Ukraine, but I has sympathies for this country. Yesterday’s pacifists and fighters for peace in the West now want to drink someone else’s blood. This is deeply immoral, what we are doing as a collective West, which does not really exist, because there is no solution here. The solution is not a change of power in Russia. And the German tanks in Kharkov will rally the Russians even more (politically will unite) and bring them closer to China, this already happening.”
Judge Napolitano: Okay. There’s a lot to unpack there. The West is not united. You’ve been saying that the tanks coming from Germany – he didn’t mention the American tanks. The tanks coming from Germany will only gin up the Russians to fight more aggressively. It’s in nobody’s interest to weaken Russia. And he’s a member of NATO!
Col Doug Macgregor: Of course. Two things. Nasim Taleb often talks about finance, and he talks about people at the top who don’t have skin in the game. Our problem in Washington, DC. And in many capitals in Europe right now is that they’re perfectly happy to fight this war until Ukraine ceases to exist, and a million Ukrainians are dead because they have no skin in the game. They haven’t put themselves at risk, nor will they do. So and that’s disgraceful. And he’s talking about that to some extent.
Then secondly, it’s interesting. This man is a Croat. Because, you know, the Croatians, like most Europeans, to be perfectly blunt, that people don’t like to admit, were part of the crusade to destroy Bolshevism during World War II. But he knows that Russia is not a communist state. He knows Russia does not aspire to conquer Europe!
The Russians learned the hard way that imperialism is a very bad form of government and business. When you move into countries that are not yours and you have to govern and sustain people that are not yours, inevitably there’s bad blood, there’s anger, there’s corruption. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, who probably more than anyone else, inspires the Russians who are at the top today, made it very clear we should all be grateful that this horrible empire that existed is gone!
We don’t want to govern other people. We want to govern ourselves. We want our own country, this place called Russia. And that is the way the Russians think right now. They’re not interested in conquering anything. But we are making it impossible for them to turn away because we make threat after threat after threat to dismember the country, to destroy it’s regime! And we keep talking about it as though this is something the Russians want. They do not want that!
Judge Napolitano: After decades of German political leaders disarming Germany, and depriving Berlin of its credibility, quoting your article, Chancellor Schultz decides to send tanks. Is this to please Joe Biden? Because he’s not going to please anybody, his domestic political forces, is he?
Col Doug Macgregor: He’ll please some people in Germany. A minority, I would suspect. The majority, I think, are somewhat horrified. Because the Germans, based on their experience and they also know their own history, know that when Berlin and Moscow have co-operated and done business together, there has been peace in Europe.
There’s any one war in human history that made absolutely no sense. It was the war between Czarist Russia and Imperial Germany. They had been close allies and friends for hundreds of years. There was no reason for that to happen. It did.
The Second World War. We know the background on that. It was a huge tragedy. Everyone decided in 19 45 who was German, this will not happen again. We will not permit it. I cannot imagine, Chancellor Kohl or Chancellor Schmidt, Helmut Schmidt, that some of your viewers may remember standing up and urging equipment be sent to this corrupt, gangster regime in Kiev that’s killing off it’s own people with these stupid instructions that are given to the generals in the field with a military structure that is corrupt and celebrating it.
On the contrary, I think they would have said, absolutely not. Out of the question. This man Schultz is not going to last long. And if anything, what we’re seeing now, even though it is not patently obvious, is the beginning of the end of NATO!
Judge Napolitano: So, Colonel, big picture here’s my head scratcher. If the West, if the leading countries economically in NATO, the United States, Germany, Great Britain, France, want to wage this war against Russia, if Tony Blinken and his globalist buddies in the foreign ministries in Western Europe really think that they can use the war to push Putin out or weaken him, if Jack Devine and the CIA or if Jack is actually articulating what the CIA is trying to accomplish, why is the Western military response so tepid?
You can’t fight the Russians with just a half dozen tanks, and you can’t fight them at all with tanks that aren’t going to get there for another four or 5 or 6 months. And American troops in Poland are not going to keep Putin up at night.
Col Doug Macgregor: We have 100,000 troops in Europe, and of that number, I’d be surprised if we have 40 or 50,000 combat troops. That means the soldiers, sergeants, lieutenants, captains who actually go in and shoot people.
In other words, most of that is still support, and we don’t have that much artillery. We don’t have that much in the way of immediate indirect fire support. We’re in no position to do it. We could bring in more Poles. They bring in a couple of hundred thousand Poles to fight, but they’re not going to be adequately armed to take on the Russians, and they’re not going to be adequately trained. So it’s sheer lunacy.
But again, you’ve got to go back and understand how this began. At the beginning, Putin sent in a very small force and gave them very specific instructions that they were not to kill civilians, they were not to damage infrastructure because he was simply trying to demonstrate the seriousness with which Russia viewed what we were doing in eastern Ukraine by building up this dangerous force against them.
Well, it took 2, 3 months. He finally figured out no one is going to negotiate with us. No one cares to. In the meantime, we reached the erroneous conclusion that:
“See, look, the Russians are weak! The Russians can’t cope. The Russians are no threat. We can beat them!”
Well, that was the wrong conclusion. And what we’re seeing happen right now is a massive expansion of Russian military power on a scale that we have not seen since the Cold War. And this is going to be a permanent expansion, a large and powerful force. The 700,000 plus that are around Ukraine right now are a brand new force, a brand new army. This thing is poised to do one thing, annihilate whatever is in its path, it will do that.
However, again, the Russians are being methodical. They’re being cautious. Because they do worry that we are led by impulsive, erratic personalities in Washington. And that stupidly, when we realize that the place is falling apart, I mean, Ukraine, someone will say:
“Well, we have to do something!”
I don’t know how many times while I was on active duty, I heard people at the top of the political structure say:
“Well, we have to do something.”
As soon as they say that, leave the room! Get the hell out of there!
Judge Napolitano: I mean, this is a favorite government line. They have to give the impression to the public that they’re doing something even if it’s 180 degrees from what they’re doing.
But the West, whether it’s Chancellor Schultz or President Biden, or to a lesser extent the new Prime Minister of Great Britain, is like a boxer punching with his left hand and then apologizing to the gallery with his right for hitting too hard. What are they accomplishing?
Col Doug Macgregor: Schultz is doing what he’s done throughout his career. Remember that Schultz and others have grown up over the last 30 or 40 years in this environment where there was very little change. And their formative period of experience came after the Cold War ended, and they saw a very different world and they became, I think, enamored of this notion that the United States is the hegemon of the world and that whatever we do is right and anybody who resists us is morally wrong. They’ve taken this position. This justifies all sorts of dangerous behavior.
I don’t think that Mr Schultz is going to last much longer. I certainly don’t think his foreign minister will. These people are out of touch with reality. No competent German statesman over the last three or 400 years would have made the stupid remarks and statements that they have.
Judge Napolitano: Didn’t he just lose his Defense Minister about two weeks ago?
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, we haven’t had much of it in the way of Defense Ministers in that country now for at least, 20 years. When we went to Desert Storm in 1991, arguably, the Germans had the finest forces in NATO. They were top notch, and they remained excellent through the mid 1990s. And then a series of Leftist governments systematically dismantled them. This is after Chancellor Kolh left.
Now, on the one hand, they took the position that Russia was not a threat, and it is not a military threat to them unless they make it. So and that was understandable. But they lost sight of the fact that if you have no skin in the game, as I said earlier, when it comes to military power, nobody’s going to pay attention to you.
I mean, the Polish army could invade Germany tomorrow morning and conquer it in a week.
Judge Napolitano: Omph! Well, that’s the line of this interview. Colonel, always a pleasure, sir. Thank you very much for joining us.
Col Doug Macgregor: Okay, thank you. By the way, can I add one thing that a lot of people don’t seem to understand about these tanks?
Judge Napolitano: Please.
Col Doug Macgregor: We promise 31 M1 series tanks. They have to be built from scratch. And people have said, well, why is that? Well, it’s very simple. We have a form of armor protection on the existing M1 series tanks that is some of the very best in the world, if not the best, that was developed over many years. It’s a very complex composite form of armor. We will not allow tanks with that unique armor to fall into the hands of the Russians.
And we have to assume, based upon Ukrainians that have lost, we estimate 7,000 vehicles, including at least a couple of thousand tanks, and two or 3,000 other armored vehicles that have either been destroyed or fell into the hands of the Russians. We have to assume that these could.
So the decision was made to build 31 M1 series tanks, but apply the 1970s armor to them. So that if they fell into the hands of the opponent, it would not be a security risk for us. We would not lose this advantage that we have.
But there’s something larger here, and this is very important. There’s a lot of nonsense going on about what we’re going to send. And you’ve heard all the analysts that are worth a damn and honest point out it’s not going to make any difference. I think we’re preparing an apology in advance. I think everybody in Washington in a few months is going to say:
“Well, we did all we could. Look at all that we sent. We just couldn’t make it happen.”
And I think that’s where we’re headed.
In the meantime, millions of Ukrainians lives are destroyed. The state is destroyed, the nation is destroyed. Who will be held responsible for that if they point the fingers at Putin? He’s the wrong man. He didn’t want to do it. He was the reluctant fighter in this whole mess. He held off for years. He begged us to listen.
You can go back, all the way back to George Kennan, who pointed these things out, and write up to Ambassador Burns, who is now the director of the CIA, who wrote the famous memo:
“Nyet means, no. Don’t advance the borders of NATO to Russia.”
All of this is well known.
Judge Napolitano: Colonel. No one is explaining these things as you are. And certainly no one knows tanks the way you do. And thank you for the education and the passion with which you have offered it, that you’ve explained to all of us. Always a pleasure, my dear friend.
Col Doug Macgregor: Thanks, Judge.

First of all, No one disregarded or denied innocent Ukrainians deaths. In fact i can argue that, the way US & the west handling this conflict since 2014 has been causing more harm to Ukrainians than good, as well as the status quo which the west eagerly condemning more fighting which prolong the war which results in more Ukrainian casualties.
Secondly, No one waving or condemning Putin, what they’re talking about is how the western leaders and their mainstream media are failing to acknowledge the simplest ground facts of military as well as failing to understand Putin claiming rationales behind his actions, while all the Russian people are supporting his decisions.
Thirdly, You need to find facts before make your judgements, instead of hearing from the contradicting bias media, you need to look into historical facts, records, presses, Wikis, etc…. and have some ability to put yourself in others shoes, and deal with matters using more realistic (cause/effect) point of view. for example:
– “Putin has messianic ambitions to conquer Europe” No factual nor logical evidence to support that (only media censored Narratives)
– “NATO & Western leaders are supporting Ukraine with weapons because they are humanitarian or care about them” is naïve thought and doesn’t match history or the world we live in.
The channel is NOT basically pointing at Ukrainian people or their sovereignty, its pointing at the absurd acts of western leaders and Ukrainian current administration handling Ukraine and the conflict, leading us to WWIII, instead of more peaceful collaborative world.

LIVING BEING IS OUR RACE, MANKIND IS OUR RELIGION, HINDU,MUSLIM,SIKH,CHRISTAIN, THERE IS NO SEPARATE RELIGION
ALMIGHTY GOD KABIR is the father of all souls that JESUS, MOHAMMAD, GURU NANAK, VEDH was telling in BIBLE, QURAN, GURU GRANTHA SAHEB
.. In OLD Orthodox Jewish Bible KABIR is mentioned…KABIR means (GREAT or MIGHTY GOD) in hebrew…but when translated in different languages translator removed KABIR word
Quran written in arabic has also KABIR word….KABIR means THE GREAT in arabic.
In vedh also KABIR is mentioned….
GURU NANAK himself described that LORD KABIR is his Guru and Lord KABIR met him..and in GURU GRANTHA SAHEB Guru Nanak called Lord kabir as kartar (GOD)
Just by reading holy books it is impossible to get depth knowledge of Holy text because we are just a living beings.. In vedhas also KABIR is mentioned…our brain isnot capable and doesnot understands the secrets behind the words and world…..GURU NANAK, JESUS AND MOHAMMAD were aware of LORD KABIR but later followers were not able to get depth knowledge

As a former Polish Special Operations soldier and long time Football Hooligan (took part in couple of “ustawka”- equal number groups fighting with no weapons), I have an opinion of war and violence in general. Although men, who fought against each other in forests (ustawka), we’ve shaken hands after it was over. It gave me a perspective on a difference between soldiers and warriors. Warriors fight for fight itself, there is almost no hate, aside some personal animosity. Soldiers however, fights over fear of being killed by their enemies. Fear is a bastard father of hate. My point is, that people who you could consider as a prey from the natural selection angle, in civilization are the most blood thirsty. Violence is a wet dream of the weaklings. I have no problem with fighting, but I do it now only when it’s necessary, not because someone told me so. I have no problem with authorities, it’s authorities that have problem with the lack of authority. If someone cannot stand alongside me in the first line, by definition- they are behind. And as such- they can only follow. My name here isn’t my choice, it was given to me, it isn’t my path, just an eventuality- if things go sideways. Weak people are corrupted by power and they prove themselves unreliable, when the trouble starts. That’s 99% of world’s politicians. I’m not an antisocial individual, I just don’t subscribe to victimhood mentality. Thank you for speaking the truth Colonel Macgregor, stay frosty!

For one it is a pleasure to listen to someone of your caliber and actual knowledge, and also the balls to say the truth. The fact that you are not helping American politicians is a disgrace but then again in behind closed doors they all know the truth that you are laying out, however that doesn’t help their goals and agenda. As I always say they don’t want to do the right thing, but only the thing that is right for them. However sometimes that backfires a lot more irreversibly, irreparably and costly.

Professor, if Russia is considered an imperialist state simply because, after hundreds of years of attacks from its surrounding neighbors (many of them who are now fueling the present conflict), they finally decided they needed a buffer zone between themselves and their most powerful belligerents, for the explicit purpose of avoiding exactly what we see today in Ukraine, then they are guilty.

Great interview again with Mr.Macgregor. Realistic, truthfull man with a lot of experience, with the knowledge of history, nations, etc.I can say it, bcs he precisely desribed the role of the Croatia in the history. Since, I am from Croatia, I can confirm his claim which is accurate. He also has got the feelings for humanity, compassion for a lot of people that died and probably for the next ones with the same expected destiny. I really can’t say this for the most American politicians, who killed a lot of people for no reason. I would say Mr. Macgregor is a Great guy. He is the “prototype” of an old guard Americans, which we all liked untill the 1990’s, we idealized this kind of guys, clever, capable, full of knowledge. When they started with their monarchistic behaviour, during the 1990’s all over the world, this idealistic image of an average American has started to fade away. Now, sometimes American tourists are claiming that they are Canadians. When I resume this last 30 years, I think that the America with the Americans, should have take some other course of it’s functioning as a state. More turned to trading, opening, science innovations, renewable energies, many of the aspects of being a better as a whole state. But, no.They decided to sell the weapons, making and inventing some new wars and spreading the misery all around the world, unfortunately.

When the Berlin Wall came down, the USSR was given a guarantee by the US Secretary of State, and I quote: “The fall of the Berlin Wall gives the Soviet Union our firm guarantees that NATO will not move an inch eastwards”. There were other senior politicians who said the same thing. What did Russia get in respond? Well, the enlargement of NATO in 1996 and 2004. When the Russians asked why you did it when you’d promised not to do it again. The answer was: “Yes, but we promised the Soviet Union, and you are not the Soviet Union, you are Russia now”. That’s all you need to know about the US foreign policy. What about invasions of Irak, Libia, Siria, Afganistan, and mush more……? What choice did the Russia have? It is a tragedy to see what happens in Ukraine. Thank you MR.Macgregor for your professional assessment of the situation in Ukraine.

Throughout the war, Russian officials have given inconsistent statements about Moscow’s aims, about Ukrainian proposals, and about the prospects for a cease-fire, a summit meeting between Putin and Zelensky, or an ultimate peace deal. Several times, different high-level Russian officials have contradicted each other. Some Western officials and analysts have concluded that for the Kremlin, the negotiations are purely for show.

The US pushed Russia to the limit exactly because it is the only one that benefits from this war and it’s not just the defense industries.
Had Europe continued it’s cooperation with Russia according to the old European vision for a Europe from the Atlantic to the Urals, then the European industries with Russian raw materiel and energy, they would become strong competitors to the American corporations.
NATO would also have no reason for existing, meaning that the US would be out of Europe.
If you remember the statement made by the French president Macron, just before the events in Ukraine, that NATO is brain dead.
After the events in Ukraine, NATO is no longer brain dead, thus ensuring the position of the US in Europe.
The European energy sources are controlled by the US, so the European industries will no longer be a competitive threat to American industries.
There is also the Heartland theory, that says that if Russia controls Ukraine is an empire, if it does not then it’s just another big country.
And last but not least, Russia is the last major country that clings to traditional values and rejects the globalization meatgrinder.
So there are a number of issues that the US thinks it benefits from this war.
The slight problems that come out of this reasoning are:
The apparent inability of the US to take seriously the Sampson doctrine for use of nuclear weapons, remaining stuck on the MAD doctrine of nuclear deterrence.
The mistake of turning Russia towards Asia.
In it’s attempt to control the industrial competition from Europe, the US is creating a Frankenstein alliance in Asia, that with Russian raw material and nuclear umbrella will become a military and economic super power, challenging the world order established after WW2, over the next 10 years.
If humanity survives this crisis, one could conclude that up to the 19th century Europe was the global power, in the 20th century the US became the global power and that in the 21st century the role of global power will go to Asia.

If one’s entire motivation for a policy is directed Malice against another and they’re willing to do anything to achieve those aims.. It’s a sign of insanity for one thing.. it could easily backfire and leave the other not only in a stronger position but now with justified animosity a dangerous ploy. and when you’re pursuing this at a time your own power is waning it’s suicidal.

The baseline M1A2 armor composite with the DU layered backpack is probably not enough. The present M1A2 SEPV3 variant has had several changes in the thickness and shape of the turret cheeks and the Abrams upper hull is now slightly different as well.
Both indicate a major reshuffle of the composites.
The baseline armor package, for export, is tungsten and will not reliably defeat Svenits 1/2 rounds, at all. Inside 2,000m the Ukrainians will be at constant overmatch. Out to 3,000m, it will depend on where the Russians know to aim. They own an M1A1HA and so can likely make some informed guesses.
That said, the M1A2 represents dated, coldwar, technology baselines which will prove incompatible anyway, even with the latest version with the under-armor APU. We need a new MBT and this may well prove to be the excuse for it. Sending full spec vehicles would certainly put Abrams in the hands the Ukrainian Army, faster.
As is, Ukraine will not likely be able to service these vehicles without sheep dipped contract technical support and so their ability to use them to fight a fluid war of movement is going to be limited. If they use them as pillboxes to hold down sectors of front , they will be bypassed and captured or become artillery magnets.
The M1A2 is as vulnerable to artillery fire and other forms of top attack as any other tank out there. The only tank which has some degree of genuine protection here is the Swedish STRV122B, which is a Leopard 2A5 variant.
At another level, the use of export tungsten APFSDS will also be important. The M256 L44 caliber gun does not have as high an operating pressure as the RH120 L55 of the Leopard 2A6 and so only accelerates the M829A3/A4 series rounds to about as 1,450m/sec, which is fine because the DU penetrator loves to sleeve at these speeds meaning it doesn’t ricochet or plasticize and shatter at particular grazing angles.
DU ammunition is also not exportable however and so the beefiest alternative is likely going to be the GD-OTS KEW-A1. This is a tungsten round which fires at around 1,740m/sec but, unlike the oralloy round, the tungsten is subject to mushrooming and shattering at less than 2,000m/sec. Which means it cannot be relied on to set the penetrator at sub optimal strike angles. i.e. It takes a lot more care in firing.
This is shaping up into quite the fluster cuck.

Thanks for mentioning the NATO factor. That is a HUGE reason behind this I think. You didn’t say how long it will take to build the tanks from scratch though. I’m assuming at lest another 3-4 months, so it will take at least 6 months before they’re on the battle field, and by then the Ukraine will be ashes unless they give up? In other words, all this talk about tanks is meaningless, and the globalists will be taken out in this too.

Col Macgregor sir I am great fan of your true analysis, thanks for telling the truth to the world. There is no comparison between Russia and Ukraine. Russia has huge army of 1.5 million troops and an other six hundred thousand reserve soldiers. It has one of the best and largest military hardware and equipment production facilities in the world. What to talk of Ukraine, even NATO cannot compete it both in military hard ware production and in war. It is absurd thinking and illusion that Ukraine will win the war with Russia. I consider the war a curse for humanity, it is like a fire if not extinguished now, will burn everything including NATO and Europe. The key to end this war is in the hands of US President. The moment he decides to end this war, it will end immediately. Lets hope some commonsense prevails and Europe and US takes some solid steps to end this war otherwise Russia will completely destroy and annihilate Ukraine and economically destroy the Europe through energy starving.

The current population of Ukraine is 43,058,174 as of Tuesday, January 31, 2023, based on “Worldometer” elaboration of the latest United Nations data. With that data, I guess then, according to D.M., only 18 million to 20 million left in Ukraine. Perhaps about 23 million left. May be later in the year of 2023 it will be 12 million Ukraine[s] left.

In Ukraine, the last population census was conducted in the early 90s of the last century. If you look at the statistics of bread consumption in Ukraine, the population there does not exceed 21 million people.
Barrie Hebb
The last Population census was done in 2001 I think. In 1991 there were just over 50 million – by 2001, roughly 42 or 43 million. There are populations in territories not under government control, but difficult to know exactly how many – then those who left since 2001 + natural population growth, and those who left after 2008, 2014 – etc. and now. UN pop stats, IMF, and WB all have different population estimates of Ukraine, and the e-census carried out in 2021 estimated about 37 million in Ukraine (under government control as well was unclear). I think there were roughly 1.5 million already working in Poland prior to 2022, and many who are outside, yet continue to reside formally in Ukraine despite not being there, and well, there are incentives for polling data and electoral lists to not remove potential voters, like Gogol’s dead souls!! However, in 2021, it was ranked as the top five demographic crisis in the UN population report. Ultimately, we do not know how many people are truly within Ukraine before 2022, or now. Border crossing data are also insufficient to estimate it.

If Russia would not collapse, then the Ukrainian army would have a really long and bloody task to retake all those Ukrainian areas, which are now under the Russian occupation. This process might take several years. So the big majority of the Western countries, not only the U.S., are hoping, that Russia would economically and politically collapse. Then Ukraine could pretty much dictate the peace terms. However, if Russia would move her army from Ukraine, this would change the situation very much. The normal relations between the West and Russia would be gradually restored. The West doesn’t want to destroy Russia, only make her lose her imperialistic war in Ukraine. Glory to Ukraine ! Glory to the heroes !

We Americans don’t like being losers. It’s part of our culture. But this current government, with this ill-considered Ukraine war—and, frankly, the last several governments since the whole “End of History” neo-con “American Century” lunacy first came on to the scene—is turning us into losers. And it is positioning the Russians and the Chinese, India etc. as unequivocal winners. We don’t like this. We don’t like being losers and bad guys—and, really, why can these so-called “leaders” not see a world with more respect where peers on an equal footing compete amicably and prosper in peace together? These so-called Western “leaders” are running us into the ground, after having already, over the last several decades, largely dismantled our economies and hung our people out to dry. They are taking away the ability of our kids and future generations in our countries to prosper and lead decent lives, to contribute positively to the world, have a livable planet, a job, a roof, an education, etc. Yes, it’s the “End of History,” but not for Russia or China—rather, for the Declining Empire of United States and it’s post-colonial Western European “allies.” And, yes, it’a something that needed to end anyway, but that process is going to be painful for the entire world, and it’s not at all clear what replaces it. In the meantime, damn these people destroying our future. Damn these worthless, incompetent, arrogante fools. I curse them to hell.

Why was NATO expanded? because the Americans and in general the Westerners sell weapons to the NATO countries as they expanded, so much profit would the Western war industries, with the war in Ukraine they expelled all Russian weapons from the NATO countries, regardless of who would win in Ukraine, now the the western war industry will sell weapons it is open the NATO countries who drove out the Russian weapons

In normal situation, without NATO supplies, Ukraine would have collapsed within the first three days. Most observers failed to recognize the extent to which the collective West / NATO+EU would prop Ukraine against Russian Federation in this proxy war.
At the beginning of this proxy war most of the independent Western analysts and observers even with military background failed to grasp the ultimate Geopolitical objective of the Trans-Atlantic Empire / Globalist to weaken even to break apart Russian Federation akin to Yugoslavia then conquer its vast resources, and subsequently targeting China in the ultimate efforts to set up the New Planetary Empire after removing the last two formidable obstacles to their dream of the full spectrum domination of our globe: Russian Federation and China!

According to the IMF, in 2023 Russia’s economy is not contracting. Neither are the economies of European nations in general.
Only poor old Ukraine is losing big time. This is good news for the world apart from Ukraine whose economy has been trashed with this stupid US v Russia war.
The US lead Ukraine down the garden path and is being played by the US ruthlessly and mercilessly. This is because Ukraine was lured into prioritising prosperity over security. That is NEVER a good idea but a majority of the Ukrainian people were too naive to correctly interpret and evaluate reality and too afraid of Ukraine’s violent ultra nationalist thugs.

@Soc Rates Russia is partnering with the two largest countries in the world by population — China and India — and their economies are expected to far outgrow Europe and even America in the future. Russia has more than enough economic partners and buyers for its resources. Plus the sanctions forced Russians to be more entrepreneurial, and develop homegrown manufacturing. Russia will boom economically, it is expected to have economic growth again from next near.

@James Chalkwig It’s not a matter of propaganda…but harsh reality…Russia doesn’t contribute to our wealth by playing with the pipeline…Europe’s wealth is deeply based on American wealth since the 1950s and the transatlantic bond…we get the structural funds from the EU not Russia, Russia left us only old bills to pay: large Warsaw Pact armies we didn’t needed as we weren’t in state of war with Western Europe and America, poor infrastructure (lack of highways for strategic reasons), poor energy network (none nuclear plants); environmental devastation…if they boom in 2023 because of their war economy and economical ties with India and China, then it’s good for them, but not Europe…it’s a boom at the expense of our security which caries costs with it, I want to have an energy independent free market so I can pay my bills
