Talks About Immigration

Fri, Sep 29, 2023

[Elon Musk, head of Tesla, SpaceX, X (formerly Twitter), etc., is at the Texas border interviewing a local member of Congress, a sheriff and others on the insane lack of border control allowing millions of illegals to enter America, with zero being deported.

The West is being deliberately flooded with so-called “asylum” seekers with the intent to destroy it and it is very encouraging, dare say, incredible, that someone of Musk’s importance is doing his part in drawing attention to it.

Tony Gonzales: There are law enforcement officers that want to be enforcing our laws, and they’re not able to.

Elon Musk: Okay. They’re just not allowed to enforce laws.

Tony Gonzales: No, this is their new normal. Thousands of people every day!

Elon Musk: Thousands of people every day. Yeah. All right. Well, I can’t really switch around.

So anyway, that’s like, I don’t know if you can sort of see that group, but that’s a group there.

Obviously Elon here. I’m at Eagle Pass, just arrived. And we’re just going to go around and talk to the major officials and law enforcement and whatnot that are here and just kind of eyeball the situation, get a sense for what’s going on, so you can get the kind of, like, the real story.

This is real time, unfiltered. There’s no preconditions, no nothing. This is what you see is what I see.

So it could be, like, a little bit herky jerky at times, because this is not like a piece that’s being filmed and then subsequently edited. And whatnot. This is live. This is the raw feed you’re seeing right here.

All right. With that I should actually, let me preface this by also saying that as an immigrant to the United States, I’m extremely pro-immigrant. And I believe that we need a greatly expanded legal immigration system. And that we should let anyone in the country who is hardworking and honest and will be a contributor to the United States. We should have expedited legal approval for anyone who sort of falls in that category.

But then, by the same token, we should also not be allowing people in the country if they’re breaking the law! That doesn’t make sense. The law is there for a reason.

So I think we want to do both things. Smooth out legal immigration and then stop sort of a flow of people that is of such a magnitude that is actually leading to a collapse of social services. Where even America’s largest city, New York, is buckling under the pressure of just how many illegal immigrants are going to New York. If New York can’t handle it, well, pretty much no part of the country can.

So if we don’t do something soon, we’re just going to have, like I said, a collapse in social services, as we’re already seeing in New York.

So with that, let me move to introducing some of the people here. Just basically introduce yourself.

Tony Gonzales: Yeah. I’m Tony Gonzales. I’m the local Member of Congress here. I represent 823 miles of the southern border, 42% of the southern border, two thirds of the Texas-Mexico border. I really appreciate Elon coming down and giving an unfiltered depiction of what’s happening on the border.

We feel us along the border, we feel very abandoned. And there’s some solutions, some real solutions! A big part of this is being able to share stories that no one hears about.

So you’re going to hear from sheriffs, you’re going to hear from judges, ranchers and just see some other folks.

[03:14]

Elon Musk: Let’s just see if this [camera] is still working. Let’s see. Still working. I was a bit worried that so many people might go on it that it crashes.

Tony Gonzales: Yeah.

Elon Musk: We’re back live. So I uploaded like a 15 minutes video, but I think the cell connection here is not super good. It’d be helpful to have some Starlink maps.

Tony Gonzales: Yeah. There you go.

Elon Musk: I’ll be uploading the 15 minutes video as soon as I get a good connection. And hopefully this live stream is working reasonably well.

All right, well, let’s just continue. Sorry for the delay.

Tony Gonzalez: Yeah, no, that’s okay.

Let’s continue over here at the Border Patrol. Border Patrol. And you’ll see it, I mean, right here under the bridge, you’re seeing hundreds of people getting processed. And this is every single day!

And they’ll go to another soft sided facility that has thousands of people. Right now it’s over 5,000 people. Over here to the Right, literally under a bridge. A lot of trade happens here in the city.

Elon Musk: Okay, so it’s just sort of like that’s a bridge. And there’s like people getting processed and then they come across on the trains over there.

Tony Gonzales: Yeah, exactly! It’s like an initial intake spot and then they’ll send them through, but it’s nonstop all day long.

Have you noticed all the Border Patrol agents? The number one thing that Border Patrol agents ask of me is to get back out in the field. They don’t want to be here processing people. They want to be catching bad actors. And they’re not. And you’ve got dozens of them here.

And this is probably the biggest issue. If we can do that, then we keep America safe from Fentanyl and opioids and some of these things that are killing all Americans.

Elon Musk: Okay, just go over some of the numbers that we talked about in the video that I’ll upload later. There’s, roughly, correct me if I’m wrong, about two and a half million processed legals per year. And then it’s somewhat debatable how many are sort of unprocessed, but maybe it’s like in total close, maybe four or 5 million immigrants per year. This number has reached all time highs.

Tony Gonzales: All time highs!

Elon Musk: All time highs. And it’s continuing to increase?

Tony Gonzales: Yes.

Elon Musk: And nothing as far as you know, has been done about it at the federal level?

Tony Gonzales: Nothing! Simple things, common sense things that we can enact can make a difference today.

Simple things like raising the level of credible fear many people are seeking asylum are not going to qualify for asylum.

Elon Musk: Let’s move to where you can get a better, I don’t know, maybe like this way? I don’t know. Sure. Okay.

[05:54]

Tony Gonzales: Yeah. So right now, last month, there was over 200,000 people that came over illegally.

So that’s in the millions. You multiply that times twelve. Here you are, two and a half million people coming over. Most of the people that are seeking asylum are not going to qualify for asylum. Nine out of ten actually are not.

So one of the things that we can do is we can raise the asylum criteria.

Elon Musk: Now, an important point is that although, as you’re saying, basically 90% do not qualify for asylum, of the 90 percent that do not qualify for asylum, how many are sent back to the country of origin?

Tony Gonzales: Zero! I mean, here in this, …

Elon Musk: Okay that is a real point.

Tony Gonzales: In Del Rio sector alone, you have 2,500 people coming over illegally a day and zero sending back!

Elon Musk: Zero!

Tony Gonzales: Zero!

Elon Musk: Not even like ten? Not even, …

Tony Gonzales: Nothing! So what kind of signal does that send the rest of the world?

Elon Musk: Sure.

Tony Gonzales: Is this is where you need to come, and you’re not going to be sent back?

Elon Musk: Okay, so there’s basically no repercussions.

Tony Gonzales: No repercussions! That’s the number one thing that this administration has to do. Is there has to be some repercussions.

Now, it’s due process.

Elon Musk: Sure.

Tony Gonzales: Make sure that people get their day in court. That I’ve been advocating that one person that does qualify for asylum, we need to make sure that they don’t get sent back to certain death or anything like that. But the nine out of ten that don’t? I mean, there has to be repercussions.

And once you do that, Elon, this goes away!

Elon Musk: Yeah.

Tony Gonzales: It went away for Trump, it went away for Obama, it went away for Bush, it went away for Clinton. And they’re not willing to do that. And I don’t understand why.

Elon Musk: Well, when you reached out to the White House, what’s their response?

Tony Gonzales: Their response is:

“It is a political problem.”

Elon Musk: What does that mean, “political”?

Tony Gonzales: They think it’s, …, you know, the Republicans are blaming the Democrats. Democrats are blaming the Republicans.

Elon Musk: They think it’s not real?

Tony Gonzales: It’s not real. It’s a “political problem”.

Honestly, what’s working the most is these Mayors from these cities, they’re all many times Democrat, …

Elon Musk: Mayor of New York, in fact!

Tony Gonzales: Mayor of New York, very, …

Elon Musk: The governor of New York!

Tony Gonzales: The governor of New York! Exactly! The Mayor of El Paso, these places, anywhere, anything that, …

Elon Musk: This is not a partisan issue.

Tony Gonzales: It’s not. It’s a policy issue! It’s a policy issue! And we can be humane. And we can be all these things, and we can protect those that qualify for asylum, but we also need to have repercussions for people that don’t do!

[08:09]

Elon Musk: Sure. Exactly! I mean, we’re in this absurd situation where the vast majority of people are not, in fact, asylum seekers. You can actually read on Google in any language you want, what are the magic words you need to say.

And then you’re automatically in the asylum sort of queue, which takes several years before you actually see anyone. And then even if you do see one, even if you are denied, you are not deported.

Tony Gonzales: Exactly!

And once you do that, all that does is attract more people to come over illegally. And ultimately it undermines those that are trying to do it legally!

Elon Musk: Yeah. To be clear, we’re both very much in favor of expanded legal immigration.

Tony Gonzales: Yeah.

Elon Musk: I think anyone who is hardworking and honest should be, and it’s really going to add to, to be a net addition to the economy. I think we should let them in.

Tony Gonzales: Yes.

Elon Musk: But I mean, what we’re seeing here are, in some cases, some pretty extreme individuals coming through.

Tony Gonzales: Sure.

Elon Musk: Obviously not suggesting everyone is like this, but you’re talking about a guy who came through who had face tatoos, including tears.

Tony Gonzales: Yes.

Elon Musk: Had tattooed on his face.

Tony Gonzales: Yes!

Elon Musk: When somebody tattoos a tear, it means that they have murdered someone, and they are so proud of having murdered someone that they tattoo one tear on their face for every person that they kill. Is that correct?

Tony Gonzales: That’s exactly right.

Elon Musk: And this person just claimed asylum?

Tony Gonzales: Claimed asylum.

Elon Musk: And we just let them in?

Tony Gonzales: We let them in.

Elon Musk: Again, a serial murderer!

Tony Gonzales: Exactly!

Elon Musk: Who is proud of their murders!

Tony Gonzales: Yes.

Elon Musk: This is insane!

Tony Gonzales: The other piece of it, too, is many of these people are coming from Central and South America, where culturally, it is not acceptable to have tattoos at all. Period!

Elon Musk: Right, so it’s a big deal.

Tony Gonzales: It’s a big deal to have a tattoo. It’s an even bigger deal to have a neck tattoo and a face tatoo! That means it’s almost certain that you are culturally unacceptable wherever you came from.

So there’s a lot of red flag issues that are glaring. These are people that nobody should want in their communities.

I mean, I’m talking bad actors. I’m talking, …

Elon Musk: Yeah. It’s safe to say that if somebody is a multiple murderer and proud of it, tattooing it on the face, they’re unrepentant, to say the least.

Tony Gonzales: Yes!

Elon Musk: It’s not like they try to get the tattoo removed.

Tony Gonzales: Right.

Elon Musk: And most likely, if they were murdering people somewhere else and proud of it, they will continue in that tradition.

Tony Gonzales: That’s exactly right.

Elon Musk: Yeah.

Tony Gonzales: I was in West Texas, 300 miles from the border in my district, and there was a sheriff that told me a story where two folks had come over illegally from Cuba, and they were working in the oil and gas industry. They’re making money, and they were going to go buy a truck and basically start a company in their own.

And the plan was both of you put $30,000 to go buy this truck. They’re friends. They come together. The one friend shows his $30,000, and the other friend murders him. Murders him! Takes his money, dismembers his body, …

Elon Musk: Okay.

Tony Gonzales: Spreads it everywhere. And that’s a friend! I mean, what I’m getting at, …

Elon Musk: I would say that’s not much of a friend.

Tony Gonzales: That’s not much of a friend. If you’re willing to do that to somebody, like, …

[11:09]

Elon Musk: Full on, like Breaking Bad situation.

Tony Gonzales: Exactly! You just don’t know. And that’s what people are scared! People in American, citizens are scared! They just don’t feel safe. They don’t know who these people are. They don’t want to assume. But they also don’t want to not assume. They have children. It’s a safety issue.

Elon Musk: Okay. And not only is there no end of sight, but this issue is accelerating rapidly.

Tony Gonzales: Yes! Yes! And it’s getting worse! Many people that are coming over now, before, they would have someone in the United States to go to, or they would have money. The folks that are coming over now are impoverished. They have no money, and they have nowhere to go.

Elon Musk: Okay.

Tony Gonzales: So they’re trying to scrape together some money to take a bus trip to the next destination, if you will. It’s a bad situation all the way around sand a large part of it is because the administration is attracting these folks to come knowing full well they’re not going to have any of the, … It’s a dead end road that they’re going down.

Elon Musk: This sounds like complete madness.

Tony Gonzales: It is!

Elon Musk: Okay.

Tony Gonzales: Imagine if you have to live it every day! Not only is it getting mad, it’s becoming normal! That is what I worry about.

Elon Musk: Normalizing insanity!

Tony Gonzales: That is why.

Elon Musk: You’re living in a clown world here!

Tony Gonzales: Ha, ha! You coming down was so important! Does this look normal to you? Does any of this look normal?

Elon Musk: Well, and the train that’s coming across, that’s basically where people hop on top of the train and.

Tony Gonzales: Hop on top of the train.

Elon Musk: Let’s see. I think the sheriff was, … I don’t know if the Sheriff’s still here? But you’re telling us about how they’re really pretty expert at sort of turning the brakes on the train.

Tony Gonzales: Yes.

Elon Musk: So it’s dialed, basically.

Tony Gonzales: It is. You’ve got real commerce mixed in with illegal traffic, and so it muddies the situation for everybody.

Elon Musk: Okay.

Tony Gonzales: How about, what can we do about it?

Elon Musk: Yeah, what can we do about it?

Tony Gonzales: What can we do about, how does this end? We have a government.

Elon Musk: Yeah, we have a crisis. What’s the recommendation?

[13:05]

Tony Gonzales: We have a government that’s about to shut down, and it’s going to shut down. I think there’s an opportunity if we can reopen the government and there be real solutions attached with some border security measures in there, that are non-partisan.

I’m not talking really crazy stuff one way or another. I’m talking something everybody can agree on. This could be a win-win for America. We just need the Right package to be crafted with some sensible things. You raise the level of credible fear. You turn on the repatriation flights. So at least some people that are coming over, …

Elon Musk: Above zero.

Tony Gonzales: Above zero would be a good start!

And then the immigration judges are so critical to it. You surge immigration judges, and that way when somebody comes in, they get their case heard immediately, not seven years from now.

You do that for a month, and all of a sudden the words out:

“Hey, the border is closed! Go through another route.”

Elon Musk: Okay, let’s see. Hey, guys! [media people] How’s it going?

Sheriff’s been obviously busy, so I don’t know if they’re still here or anything or they have to go. Yeah, they have to take off. Okay, well, I think I got them on recording.

Tony Gonzales: Yeah.

Elon Musk: All right. What else do you think we should do?

Tony Gonzales: How about some Border Patrol agents?

Elon Musk: Okay, sure.

Tony Gonzales: These are Federal because that was from the county standpoint.

Elon Musk: Hey, guys, are you cool being on camera at all?

Federal guy: We’re not, …

Elon Musk: Okay. Don’t worry about it. Sure. The camera is pointed at me, so don’t worry about it.

Federal guy: Thank you. Thank you man.

Elon Musk: All right.

Tony Gonzales: This is the part where a lot of folks are frustrated because they want to be working.

Elon Musk: Sure.

Tony Gonzales: I mean, they’re law enforcement officers that want to be enforcing our laws, and they’re not able to.

Elon Musk: Okay. They’re just not allowed to enforce laws?

Tony Gonzales: No. This is their new normal, and that is not a long term winning strategy for a positive part of the Border Patrol, Customs and Border Protection.

Elon Musk: Okay. Well, anyone else we think we can talk to?

Tony Gonzales: I think we’ve, … Let’s walk a little bit further down this way. I think the part that, … This is a golf course.

Elon Musk: Okay.

Tony Gonzales: So to the Left, you have a golf course, an actual functioning golf course.

Elon Musk: Sure.

Tony Gonzalez: And to the Right, you have a processing center, a mobile processing center.

Elon Musk: Okay.

Tony Gonzales: The other piece of it, too, is the transportation. Like, how does this all work? Well, you got to have water. You got to have food. You got to have vehicles, buses. None of that is free. Somebody has to pay for that. And who’s paying for it is oftentimes the Mayor, or the county, or Border Patrol agents or Customs and Border Protection is paying for buses instead of something else.

[15:54]

Elon Musk: Okay. These people are all waiting to get processed, right? Sure.

Hey, guys. How’s it going?

Tony Gonzales: This is the shot right here.

Elon Musk: Okay.

Tony Gonzales: These people you see how orderly it is?

Elon Musk: Yeah. It’s very orderly.

Tony Gonzales: It’s like an orderly, chaotic, unruly event that’s happening.

Elon Musk: Okay.

Tony Gonzales: And it’s wrong! It’s wrong for everybody involved.

Elon Musk: Sure.

Tony Gonzales: We’re not talking one or two people. We’re talking thousands of people every day!

Elon Musk: Thousands of people every day. Yeah. All right. Okay. I’m going to end the live stream now.

[And now here’s the 15 min video Elon mentioned.]

Tony Gonzales: The first person I’d like to hear from is Randy Brown, who is the sheriff of Medina County. It’s about an hour away from, about 100 miles away from here, and Randy’s behind us now. You want to come over here, Randy? And just the question I have is, what’s happening in your county?

Elon Musk: And just imagine, like, you’re just talking to America here, and people just want to understand exactly what’s going on, but assume that people do not know what’s going on.

Randy: Well, you got to go back sometime. And whenever the open border policies from the White House kind of got thrown out there, we’ve been overrun.

Elon Musk: How long ago was that?

Randy: What year was that?

Tony Gonzales: Two years ago.

Randy: Two years ago. We’ve been battling it for two years.

Elon Musk: Okay. So you’re saying there’s been an open border policy essentially for the past two years?

Randy: It was an invitation.

Elon Musk: An invitation?

Randy: That’s how I read it! That’s how it was told from the White House.

Elon Musk: Okay.

Randy: They don’t have a clue what’s going on here, I don’t think. Because if they did, maybe they would care. Maybe they wouldn’t. I don’t know.

Tony Gonzales: How does the train impact you? Because the trains have been a big story lately. Just over here. This is kind of where it starts, Elon, where you see all these thousands of people on a train. This is where they’re coming through. But it doesn’t end here. It just starts here.

Elon Musk: Yeah.

Tony Gonzales: Medina county is where they’re going to make it to the big cities like Pen,…

Randy: Two major rail lines come through my county and on those illegals rides. They actually control the trains because they know how to crank down the brake on the car. So when it passes a heat sensor, the conductor has to stop the train. Then the illegals get off, the people come to get them. And all the stolen vehicles are stealing from all over the country. Nearly every one of them is in a stolen vehicle.

Elon Musk: Okay.

Randy: So then we get involved. And then they’re trespassing on private property.

[18:21]

Elon Musk: Okay.

Randy: And when you do get behind one of them, they run through fences, they run over equipment. Irrigation stuff is important to the farmers. They run over their equipment. They tear it up. We tear up vehicles trying to hold a line. We’re trying to hold the line 100 miles away. Because the line is not getting held here!

It’s not that complicated to close the border! Really isn’t! And that’s the aggravating part. I think any sheriff will tell you the same thing!

Elon Musk: All right. Well, again, just assume that this is really just for the general public.

And so we want to just frame the situation because not everyone knows magnitude. And is this normal, or is it like, … So just if you could just frame the situation for the general public that would be helpful.

Tony Gonzales: What terrifies me the most is we’re seeing historic numbers. Historic! 11,000 people coming over daily for the past week! Here in Eagle Pass alone, 2,500 people. Over 5,000 people in detention.

But what worries me the most is this in many cases feels normal. The part that doesn’t make it out on some of the news stuff is there is a golf course. We’re literally standing in front of a golf course, and you have people playing golf as if it is normal. To the Right you have people that are coming over illegally. It is upside down!

And like Elon said earlier, I believe in legal immigration. I think legal immigration is important.

And what happens is when you grant people that have come over illegally these different opportunities, you completely undermine,

Elon Musk: Like the stuff we were talking about in the car, the magnitude of the situation.

Tony Gonzales: Magnitude of it! Yeah.

Elon Musk: The fact that we are seeing all time highs in illegal processing, and that ramp is increasing!

Tony Gonzales: Yes!

Elon Musk: So these are really important points. Because the public isn’t, … I think it’s not necessarily clear to the public. Is this normal? Or are we seeing an accelerating crisis?

Tony Gonzales: It’s not getting better. It’s getting worse! Last Friday, a week ago was a historic number! 11,000 people that came over.

Elon Musk: Okay.

Tony Gonzales: And then on Monday that number increased. Today is Thursday and that number increased! We’re only going in the wrong direction. This is a week. What happens two weeks from now, it’s the wrong way!

Elon Musk: Okay.

So basically we’re seeing unprecedented all time highs, and increasing!

Tony Gonzales: And spreading. It’s not in just one area. Like it’s not just one city or one town and not even one state anymore. We’re talking about New York today, but Chicago, you’re hearing it there. LA, Denver, there’s all these other places where it’s just spreading, just continues to get bubbling up.

Elon Musk: And just to quantify it, I think you said 2,000 a day or something. Just in this location?

Tony Gonzales: Yeah, just here!

[21:12]

Elon Musk: That’s like over 700,000 a year?

Tony Gonzales: Just in this one location! Yeah.

Elon Musk: Okay. 700,000 illegal immigrants a year, just in this one location?

Tony Gonzales: Just in this one location!

Elon Musk: Okay.

Tony Gonzales: El Paso right now. In El Paso.

Elon Musk: Yeah. That’s higher than the population of Wyoming by far.

Tony Gonzales: Yes.

Elon Musk: Okay. And that’s just one location. What is the total number from all locations, roughly, per year?

Tony Gonzales: In the millions. I mean, it’s literally millions!

Elon Musk: Millions?

Tony Gonzales: Millions! And those are just for the folks that we know have engaged. What about all the others?

Elon Musk: That’s just who was actually processed?

Tony Gonzales: Yes! The gotaways are the ones, …

Elon Musk: Yeah. So meaning that the actual number is much higher.

Tony Gonzales: Much higher!

Elon Musk: Okay. That’s very important people to know that the actual number is much higher. Is the official number something like 2 million or something, or where is it?

Tony Gonzales: It varies and it depends on who you ask. But I’ve seen it as high as 2.6 million. And that number just every year for the past three years has almost doubled. It was like 1.1.

Elon Musk: Doubling year after year.

Tony Gonzales: Doubling year after year. It’s compounding year after year because it’s not just one part of the world either. It’s all parts of the world that are coming! In El Paso, …

Elon Musk: I think that’s actually important point to make because sometimes people think, well, people are coming from Mexico, but this is not the case.

Tony Gonzalez: No. Not the case at all.

Elon Musk: The reality is that this is an open border for all of Earth!

Tony Gonzales: All of Earth.

Elon Musk: So there’s roughly 350,000,000 people in the US. But there’s 8 billion people on Earth!

Tony Gonzales: Yes.

Elon Musk: This is an open border to 8 billion people!

Tony Gonzales: Yes.

Elon Musk: In fact, I believe a small minority, it’s a small percentage that are actually coming from Mexico?

Tony Gonzales: Yeah.

Elon Musk: That are Mexican?

Tony Gonzales: Yes. That’s true.

Elon Musk: Okay.

Tony Gonzales: Sheriff Duche, how close are you the border? 60 miles?

Sheriff Duche: 68 miles from the border.

Tony Gonzales: 68 miles from the border.

Sheriff Duche: That’s right.

Tony Gonzales: What type of nationalities are coming through your county?

Sheriff Duche: We’re seeing anywhere from Honduras, El Salvador. I believe, Ecuador and stuff like that even, …

Elon Musk: That’s pretty much every country, right?

Sheriff Duche: Pretty much every country.

Elon Musk: Yeah.

Sheriff Duche: It’s very rare that we see anybody just from Mexico.

Elon Musk: Oh, it’s actually rare to see anyone from Mexico?

[23:25]

Sheriff Duche: And I’m 68 miles from the border. I’m 80 miles south of here.

Tony Gonzales: How big is your workforce? How big is the sheriff’s office?

Sheriff Duche: My patrol staff is only 16 strong, 16 total.

Tony Gonzales: Okay, so how many do you have on call at one time?

Sheriff Duche: Maybe two at the most.

Tony Gonzales: Two law enforcement officers to tackle, … I mean, some of these counties that I represent, there’s size of states and they’ve got two or three people trying to tackle it all. This is where the local community just feel completely overwhelmed because Border Patrol agents used to be the front line and now they’re here, they’re under the bridge, they’re processing folks. So they’re completely out of the game. So these law enforcement, the local law enforcement officers are carrying all the weight.

Sheriff Duche: My county alone is 1500 sq miles.

Elon Musk: Right.

So it’s not possible really.

Sheriff Duche: Very difficult to handle.

Elon Musk: Yeah. Okay. It’s worth going over a bunch of things that you mentioned to me, which is like there’s almost no repatriation. This is another thing that I found surprising.

So basically once somebody gets in, they’re in! Essentially there’s in theory, repatriation, in theory flying back. And I believe he talked to the President of Guatemala and asked him, will they take people back? And he said:

“Of course.”

Tony Gonzales: Yes. He said:

“I’ll take every single one of them.”

Elon Musk: Yeah, no problem.

Tony Gonzales: No problem. All you got to do is ask. Just call.

Elon Musk: The White House just needs to call.

Tony Gonzales: Exactly!

Elon Musk: Seems like that’s like not a difficult thing. [chuckling]

Tony Gonzales: Elon. Every White House has done that. Whether it was Trump, whether it was Obama, whether it was Clinton, whether it was Bush. Every single White House has had a border issue and every single one has had to handle it the same way. By essentially going:

“We can’t let everybody in because it’s going to overwhelm us. You’re going to abide by the laws and if you don’t qualify for asylum, we’re going to send you back.”

And as soon as you start doing that, it alleviates the stress. This administration hasn’t done that yet.

Elon Musk: Okay. Of the sort of roughly two and a half million that processed illegals and then it’s maybe as much as twice double that or something. I don’t know.

Tony Gonzales: Double that.

Elon Musk: Call it like fourish million, maybe 5 million total processed and non-processed. How many of the four or 5 million illegal immigrants are sent back to their countries every year?

Tony Gonzales: I’ll give you an example. Here in Del Rio. Del Rio sector is one of nine sectors, okay. We’re getting over about 2,500 people coming over illegally a day and we are repatriating or sending zero back! Zero!

Elon Musk: Zero?

Tony Gonzales: Zero!

Elon Musk: Zero is quite a small number!

Tony Gonzales: Exactly! [chuckling]

Elon Musk: Okay. Just literally zero!

Tony Gonzalez: Zero!

Elon Musk: So basically there’s no repatriation?

Tony Gonzales: What is happening is, …

Elon Musk: This is insane!

Tony Gonzales: What is happening is at best they will send people to other parts of the border. That’s back to where the country of origin. That’s de Laredo or El Paso in worst case scenario, and I want to bring in the Mayor here. The worst case scenario is where they’re at. You bubble to a point where there’s nowhere else to send them. So what you end up doing is you release them into the street.

Imagine what that does to your local community. This is the Mayor of Eagle Pass.

Elon Musk: Hi, how you doing?

Tolando Salina: Tolando Salina, the Mayor of the city of Eagle Pass. And it’s been a rough, …

[26:50]

Elon Musk: Nice town.

Tolando Salina: Thank you.

Elon Musk: Yeah, just FYI, in case people are wondering whether Eagle Pass is like a rundown town, it’s actually really clean and nice. Just FYI.

Tolando Salina: Thank you so much!

We’re a city of 28,000 people, and we’ve had 19,000, …

Elon Musk: Sorry, maybe turn the camera, I suppose.

Tolando Salina: A city of 28,000 people.

We’ve had over 19,000 people in the last about ten days come in. So we don’t have the resources.

Elon Musk: Wait, more people are coming in by far, it’s exceeding the population of the town on a regular basis?

Tolando Salina: Absolutely! We don’t have the resources.

Tony Gonzales: Will you talk about the hospital?

Tolando Salina: Absolutely!

Tony Gonzales: I think that’s a piece that a lot of people are missing.

Tolando Salina: Eagle Pass has one hospital, so you have thousands of people visiting this hospital. People are getting frustrated. The safety is taking a toll. People can’t get medical care, our local constituents, because they’re treating people that are coming in from other countries.

Elon Musk: Yeah, there’s only so many doctors.

Tolando Salina: There’s only so many doctors. Only so much we can do. The thing is, they’re coming in without consequence, and the word gets out back to their countries:

“Hey, come to the US! Come to Eagle Pass!”

Come one, come all kind of situation. And it’s disappointing that we don’t have a reform or we can solve this issue.

Tony Gonzales: The other thing about this too Elon, is it should not be a partisan issue. I get it. The politics in it,

Elon Musk: Yeah, there’s certainly a temptation to make it a partisan issue.

Tony Gonzales: 100%!

But this is across the board. I don’t care if you’re a D, an R, if you vote, don’t vote, urban America, rural America, everybody’s impacted the same way. When the crisis hits your town, it’s like a hurricane. When a hurricane hits you, everybody gets washed out, and it’s no different.

So I think there’s an opportunity here if we can message it in a manner, … This is about solutions. Hey, I get the finger pointing. It’s easy to say why we got here. It’s like, how do we just get out of here? And I think there are some real tangible solutions.

Elon Musk: Okay, so I guess the first part of this video, and I’ll take a minute to upload it once it’s done sure. Is just to frame the problem so American people understand the magnitude of the problem, how quickly it is growing, and that there is basically no solution currently being implemented.

Tony Gonzales: Yes.

[28:57]

Elon Musk: Okay. And just to understand. You were telling me sometimes people coming through, they have gang tattoos, and they have the tear tattoo on the part. I’m not sure. Maybe everyone knows what tattooing a tear on your face means.

Tony Gonzales: It’s not good!

Elon Musk: It’s not good!

Tony Gonzales: I visited the facility here in Eagle Pass on Monday, and there was a guy that had face and neck tattoos, hand tattoos, and he had teardrops.

Elon Musk: A teardrop is when you kill someone.

Tony Gonzales: When you kill someone, and then you wear it as like a, …

Elon Musk: As a badge of pride! You’re actually happy that you’ve killed someone, and you want people to know it.

Tony Gonzales: Right!

Elon Musk: And when someone like that comes through and they say they’re an asylum seeker, what do we do?

Tony Gonzales: So I’m in there, and I asked the Border Patrol chief, …

Elon Musk: We’re talking about, basically a serial murderer.

Tony Gonzales: Yes. Because he has multiple, …

Elon Musk: A serial murderer and proud of it!

Tony Gonzales: Yes. This is not somebody you want baby-sitting, …

Elon Musk: Not subtle.

Tony Gonzales: No, not at all!

And so when I asked the Border Patrol chief, I go:

“Hey, what’s up with this guy?”

And he asked him in Spanish, he goes:

“Hey, have you ever been arrested before?”

He goes:

“Oh, of course not.”

And he’s like:

“No, no! I’ve never been arrested.”

And so what the Border Patrol chief said, he goes, we do not have records from people from Venezuela.

So we can’t track. Unless they were arrested in the United States we really don’t know who some of these actors are. Many people you’ll see are fleeing poverty. I get that.

Elon Musk: Sure.

Tony Gonzales: But there are others that are fleeing incarceration.

Elon Musk: Yes, we are basically, it seems like the place where you can go to get away from the law.

Tony Gonzales: Yeah.

Elon Musk: Okay, well, I think with that, I see kind of a group over there that’s coming in. So I don’t know if you could really see it. I’ll try to switch it around.

Well, I can’t really switch around.

So anyway, that’s like, I don’t know if you can sort of see that group, but that’s a group there.

[Elon’s recording just ends here.]

[31:28]

I love Elon! Recognize the problem and apply first principles. Unfortunately, I see this as just the beginning of the migration issues. The storms are becoming bigger they show up more often. Earthquakes destroying places that have survived for thousands of years Gone of flat… Fires ripping rapid like never seen before. Hurricanes tsunami’s, it’s all coming. Bigger, stronger, more frequent than ever before.. For every degree of temperature increase.
How much more does it multiply the odds of a major storm? Parts of the florida keys at 101 degrees. What fish. Pesticides and chemicals in our water. Wonder why so many people have cancer. I don’t mean to be the preacher of doom and gloom, but I have a feeling it’s going to get worse. Millions and millions of people are going to try and make their way here. They see us as some sort of sanctuary in a world of chaos. Good or bad actors, everyone should have to check in. Does anybody remember what it says at the bottom of the statue of liberty? Army corps of engineers better get their shit together. There are waves of people coming. Hundreds of millions… So far, it’s just been a trickle.. .. . Thank you, Elon, for taking us along for the ride.🗽🗽🗽

Why is Elon there? He is a bit insulated from the river crossing immigrants experience.

Good effort Elon, but this is not your fight. Now get the hell out of there and get back to work at Telsa. I’m still waiting for my Cybertruck.

Then whose fight is it? Elon will bring a large amount of attention to the issue, that the politicians, in an election year will find very difficult to ignore

Id suggest that you dampen this vid. There are things we need to help Elon by temp stopping some news that he posts that are too political

Elon should stick to what he does best build the industries to make America lead. If he wants to stick his nose in the Immigration issue then run for office otherwise BUD OUT. If he wants to fix the problem he could pay for increased sites where these poor human Beings can be processed to be able to work in the USA especially at Elon’s factories.
