I was saying to people last year:
“Be careful what you say on online platforms, even when they say they’re, you know, encrypted.”
Well, they’re not anymore. They can see anything.
Should you be afraid? Yeah, …!
Hello, people. I haven’t got a lot of time, but this is going to be a short video anyway. But I was going to put my light on and I thought:
“No, the contents of this video demands a gloomy darkness, like a cloak that has just been dragged over the UK!”
I am, of course, talking about the UK Online Safety Bill, which has just kind of been passed in the background:
“Oh, it’s nothing! It’s not that important. It’s not that significant!”
I think it happened yesterday. Yeah, just signed off. They’re just waiting for old King Charlie to give it the go ahead, which he will, of course:
“Oh, I don’t know about this, this looks terrible!”
And I’ve had a look at this Bill and it’s terrifying! I had trouble sleeping after it. I don’t even live in England.
But the fact that what’s happening in Canada, what’s happening in America, what’s happening in Australia, this beats all of that, hands down. This is unprecedented authoritarian! This is real world 1984. I know it’s a cliche, I know it’s a trite thing to say, but the UK is there. They’re absolutely there!
Do not be confused! This is outright censorship! This is outright censorship, but it’s also an attack on your civil rights. And it’s also an attack on your basic right to privacy. This is a three pronged attack on your ability to question the authoritarian political orthodoxy of the moment.
Like I said, there’s three main elements to it. There’s your rights, your civil liberties and your freedom of expression, or what we used to call your rights, your civil liberties and your freedom of expression. Because as far as I’m concerned, the research I’ve done on this, they’re gone!
And the way they’ve done it is predictable and not even clever. This is a real ham fisted, blunt weapon attack. The majority of it is around “protecting children”:
“Oh, no, that’s what we’re doing! We’re protecting children.”
And they’re not! It’s absolutely nothing to do with that! And they’re attacking the platforms, they’re attacking your Facebook and Twitter, but not just social media, because I’m not sure if I’d give a shit about that, really.
I mean, I should, I suppose, but this is also going to include Telegram, WhatsApp, SMS messaging. Yeah, seriously, text messaging. It’s not going to get to the point, this bill, the UK Online Safety Bill, now means that if you want to question the political orthodoxy, you’ve literally got to do it in real life, because you can’t do it, … When you go on, WhatsApp, oh, this is encrypted end to end. And Telegram, this is encrypted end to end. Well, the UK government can go to WhatsApp.
And say:
“Hey, can you decrypt these?”
Is it decrypt or de-encrypt? You know what I mean:
“Can you decode these people’s private conversations?”
And much like “reasonable suspicion” that the police have used for decades to lock people up for nothing, that’s all they need.
“Now, we think something harmful has happened. We think something potentially harmful or dangerous is occurring. So we want you to de-encrypt these conversations so we can read them.”
And if the platforms refuse to. And this is how they spun it as well:
“Oh, no, we’re not going after individuals. No, this is about the platforms, because we’re looking after the kids!”
If the platforms refuse to do it, that’s a criminal offence, and they go to jail! They get locked up. WhatsApp, Telegram, all the usual suspects, they’ve already got plenty of legal provisions for this kind of stuff. Of course they have.
Because if they didn’t have, they would have been gone a long time ago. This stuff’s already there. This really is unprecedented! I can’t believe how it’s just slipped through.
This is probably one of the most dramatic changes in the way we use the internet. This isn’t only going to affect the UK, because if you’re talking to someone in the UK from another country using WhatsApp, well, they’re going to decrypt your messages as well.
And so your privacy is gone! Your freedom of expression’s gone! Because at any time, the government can say:
“No, we think something bad’s happening. Show us what they’ve been saying.”
And the platforms will, because otherwise they’re going to go to prison. It’s absolutely insane!
They ask it, those people, the platforms, are going to do it.
“Harmful information.”
The other really bizarre part of this. There’s a whole section in it about a “duty to protect women and girls”.
Now, why isn’t there a duty to protect “people”? So children and women and girls? Or what about protecting blokes? No, it doesn’t matter. No, fuck them! Fuck them! Literally it is. It’s not, it’s figuratively. But no, there’s a whole section in there that these platforms have now got a duty to protect women and girls.
Well, how are they going to do that? Well, my first thought is, well, what about the men’s rights movement? You start talking about that sort of thing. You start questioning feminism! You start questioning an idea! An idea!:
“No? What? You’re not a feminist? You’re criticising feminism. No, we want to see your messages. If they don’t do it, we’re going to lock them up. And if we see your, and when we see your messages, if we decide that that’s potentially harmful to women and girls, you’re in big trouble!”
Absolutely insane!
All that stuff, people will not be able to talk about men’s rights issues. People will not be able to criticise feminism on these platforms anymore.
The only way you’ll be able to do it is to meet up in real life.
Now, imagine this. Imagine you get interviewed, imagine you’re at a rally, or a protest and you get interviewed. And then someone puts that interview on social media and Telegram. And you’re saying things that they think is a danger to women and girls, like daring to question feminism, daring to question the gender orthodoxy.
Well, you’re in trouble! They might have to edit that out. That stuff will not be allowed to be spoken about on social media platforms anymore. It’s too dangerous! Because of the way social media works, this affects the whole world.
And if you don’t think this is the sort of a mark in the sand where everyone else will follow, well, then you haven’t seen the last 10, 15 years of how it works. These test it, everyone else follows.
There’ll be a complete abandonment of pro-male discourse on the internet because the platforms don’t want to risk it. It’s insane!
And it comes with criminal, … This is a criminal case. If they don’t give them this information, if they don’t give people your personal chats, they’ve broken the law and they’re going to prison! It’s terrifying!
And then the last one, because of the three I’ve identified looking at this Bill as a whole, I think there’s the three, there’s this protecting children, the duty to protect women and girls.
And then the last one, which is kind of a catch all, “Disinformation”. Disinformation!
It’s a criminal offence in the UK now to talk on these platforms, and it be disinformation:
“You don’t support Ukraine? Well, that’s disinformation. You said something positive about maybe someone else in that little situation. No, that’s disinformation!”
And they can read it and you’re in trouble. They say:
“No, it’s about the platform, this is about the companies, it’s not about individuals!”
Well, hang on, you’re blackmailing, you’re bribing. No, it’s blackmail, isn’t it? You’re blackmailing the platforms to dish the dirt on what people have been saying!
So it’s only the platforms to get to you and me. So unless you are 100% with the ideological orthodoxy of the day, they’re coming for you!
And so people won’t be able to talk about it. This stuff will disappear offline:
“Don’t support vaccines. Well, that’s disinformation!”
They’ll land your details over, they’ll see what you’ve been saying:
“Well, let’s go back a few more years. Let’s see what he said five years ago, six years ago, seven years ago.”
Because the really snide thing about these bills, of course they can retroactively use them:
“Oh, it’s not just moving forward. No, I want to see what he said on WhatsApp. For the last six years!”
When we all thought it was peer to peer encrypted and we were told that only me and the person I sent it to could see this. No, they’ve got access if they want it, they’ve got access to everything you’ve said on all social media platforms online. Even YouTube.
I mean, I say “even YouTube”, but yeah, YouTube.
And here’s the kicker, if you didn’t think all that was bad enough, wait for this. Listen to this. This is true. The BBC, the British Broadcasting Corporation, funded by British taxpayers, are totally exempt from the UK online Safety Bill! They can say what they want, they can do what they want. They’re exempt! It’s written into the Bill that the BBC are exempt from this bill.
I had trouble sleeping when I’d done my bit of research into this yesterday, because I’d heard a bit about this, but I thought:
“Well, no one’s really talking about it. It can’t be much.”
And then a mate said to me:
“Have you had a look at that?”
About three in the morning, I got up for a piddle, Jimmy Riddle, and I got a text. He said:
“Have you had a look at this UK Online Bill?”
And he sent me it over a PDF. And I was sitting on the toilet reading it. And after I read it, the whole Bill, I just sat there on the bed thinking:
“This is absolutely terrifying!”
I was shaking! Even talking about it now, even bringing it even bringing it back up to me now.
And I think this is the tip of the iceberg. Look where we were five years ago compared to where we are now.
Well, look where we are now. And imagine where we’re going to be in five years. And I don’t like saying this. I don’t like saying this because I grew up in an amazing country. I’m fucking glad I’m out of that place! It’s a terrifying, living, stroke, dying, dystopia! And be fucking careful! I mean it.
I was saying to people last year:
“Be careful what you say on online platforms. Even when they say they’re encrypted.”
Well, they’re not anymore. They can see anything. Should you be afraid? Yeaaah.
Now, I’m not trying to scare you, but you should be afraid so that you start thinking about it, so that you can start talking to people. Not online, though. No, there’s no place for that anymore.
Fucking BBC exempt!
See you later.

Hello Scrubs. This is actually terrifying. It’s a huge leap in the direction we were going anyway, but this is next level. And it’s barely caused a ripple, so compliant are the lumpen proletariat. Something’s got to give, because this is the first step to Hell. As always – a THUMBS-UP – is helpful, and this video needs to be seen. The amount of people I’ve spoken to who don’t even know about this is worrying. EDIT: I was wrong about them being able to retroactively read something you’ve said. It would appear certain platforms are going to have to lose their end to end encryption if they wish to continue operating in the UK.

The UK Online Wrongthink Bill.
It is extremely terrifying. The Russell Brand situation was a great distraction to help hush it through. If it had much coverage at all that is.

Not the distraction. This has been brewing for so long. I’ve warned about this for a long time. Brand may be just someone who needed to be crushed because he talked about the wrong things. They had no problem with him before and trying to ruin him at this stage makes no difference to the passage of the bill. The pillock should have used his reach to highlight the danger as he will surely be a victim of it like everyone else. Brand’s crime was not bleating on about the bill constantly. You should have been flailing your arms about like a bleep about this for at least a year. Now the UK will be worse than Communist China that the UK Gov likes to criticise for oppression. All of them who voted for this need to go, in fact they all need to be given Trump level investigations. I think they are corrupt as hell and this is just to cover their arses. Clear them out, investigate them and ther lackeys, allow no chance for stooges to pretend to investigate thier masters.

@emmaglass90

@billyblogs735 I agree Russell should’ve used his reach to make people aware of what was happening with the bill. A shame he didn’t. I don’t know what good would’ve come from it though – it was being pushed through regardless.

One simple solution to all this is to come offline and get back to real, face to face interactions with one another………no more online whingeing or idle threats, just reconnect with your local community and start talking, organising and forging new friendships.
Just my two cents….. 👍
