Judge Napolitano: In the afternoon here on the east coast of the United States. Colonel Macgregor joins us now. Colonel, since we were last together, president Putin paid a visit not to Crimea, but to the Donbas region and a couple of places around there. The Americans weren’t too happy about it. I thought it was a pretty good move on his part. What did you think?
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, he went forward to where he thinks it’s important that he be seen by his troops and by the Russian population.
So it was a successful visit from my standpoint for him. I don’t think he particularly cares what we think.
Judge Napolitano: Well, I think you’re probably right on that. Yesterday there was some sort of a confrontation over the Baltic Sea not the Black Sea, the Baltic Sea, between American aircraft and Russian aircraft. I’m surprised I didn’t hear Lindsey Graham suggest that we should have shot the Russian aircraft down, but somehow it would have been immoral for them to have shot the American aircraft down. There was no shooting, but they were there. What were the Americans doing there? Why are we over the Baltic Sea?
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, allegedly, I was told that two B-52s were practicing a cruise missile launch over the Baltic, obviously in the direction of St. Petersburg of Russia. Extremely ill advised, in my view, and entirely unnecessary. The Russians, of course, were alarmed and sent up some fighter aircraft that effectively intercepted the two B-52s on the edge of the Russian air defense identification zone. The two B-52s changed course, veered off. The Russians landed. Nothing happened, fortunately. Why we chose this moment to conduct such an exercise over the Baltic is a mystery to me. It seems very stupid, unless you’re begging for escalation.
Judge Napolitano: You said they’re B-52s. These are my late understanding. These are humongous, aren’t they? They can carry almost anything.
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, sure, they’re long range bombers, and they could launch cruise missiles from any location at a target that may be 100, 200 miles away. Again, why did they feel the necessity to do this in close proximity to Russia, right over the Baltic Sea, is beyond me. I don’t understand it.
Judge Napolitano: I mean, if we think you said they were practicing, certainly they weren’t shooting anything.
Col Doug Macgregor: No, this was something short of that. Yeah, I’m told this was a practice run for the release of cruise missiles in the event of conflict. That’s about it. I just question the wisdom of doing it, when they did it and where they did it.
Judge Napolitano: As we speak, President Xi of China is visiting President Putin in Moscow. President Xi very publicly suggested in the physical presence of President Putin that there be a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Now, I can’t imagine Xi, who’s the ultimate diplomat, would have made such an offering in President Putin’s face, without President Putin knowing it was going to happen. Within a couple of minutes of this came the American response, hang on to your seat, Colonel. Here’s Admiral Kirby.
Admiral Kirby: We’d be concerned if coming out of this meeting, there was some sort of call for a ceasefire, because right now, while ceasefire sounds good, it actually ratifies Russia’s gains on the ground. It actually serves Russia’s purpose for a ceasefire to basically call a stop right now without any acknowledgment that Russia is illegally inside Ukraine.
Interviewer: So United States will be against the ceasefire because this principal issue, or because it was proposed by China?
Admiral Kirby: I think I’ve been very clear. It’s about the principle of a ceasefire called for right now, which would essentially just ratify Russia’s gain.
Judge Napolitano: Never mind all the bloodshed, it would stop Admiral Kirby. Never mind all the bleeding of cash and military equipment, it would stop, Admiral Kirby. God forbid President Putin should smile over it. What did you think, Colonel?
Col Doug Macgregor: When a great power like China offers anything resembling a peace plan that involves a ceasefire, our response should be, we’re taking it on board, and we’re going to examine it, and we will respond after we’ve had a chance to examine it thoroughly. That’s what a good diplomat would say. We have taken the position that the only arbiter in this operation is us.
In other words, we’re the only ones that can accept or reject any peace plan or ceasefire for Ukraine, which is utterly nonsensical. But this is what we’ve taken as a position from the very beginning, Judge.
Judge Napolitano: Judge is this a manifestation of American exceptionalism, that everything that happens everywhere in the world has to be approved by us?
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, that’s not a tenet of American exceptionalism. That started with Madeleine Albright in her discussion with Colin Powell back in 1992, insisting that we are the “indispensable nation”, that nothing can happen anywhere on the planet without our participation. That was a very dumb observation because it’s patently untrue. Most of what happens beyond our borders on any given day is completely irrelevant to the American people.
But in this particular case, if we were interested in peace, and I think we’ve made it very clear that we’re not. If we were, then we should have simply said:
“We’ll examine the proposal, we’ll study it and we’ll respond.”
That costs you nothing to say that! And that’s the diplomatic language that we should have used.
The second part is that China is genuinely interested in bringing this war to a close. We need to get that through our heads! Everything that China is about is economic expansion, building prosperity. They want to build the One Belt, One Road that runs from the coast of China in the east on the Pacific, all the way to Europe. To do that, you’ve got to cross through Central Asia. And from Central Asia through Russia to Ukraine and through White Russia to Europe. They want that trade. The Europeans, by the way, would like to trade with China.
Now, why do they want to go through Central Asia overland? Because right now, they’re heavily dependent for oil, gas, all the natural resources, minerals, food on transport over the sea. Everything has to come out of East Africa, out of the Persian Gulf, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and Iran, via ship through the Strait of Malacca, up through the South China Sea to China’s ports. That means that they are vulnerable for thousands of miles to what? It’s called the United States, Navy! And they don’t want to be vulnerable to that anymore. They would like to avoid it. China is not a natural maritime power. I don’t care how many ships they build. They know that.
Judge Napolitano: So I’m going to conclude that Admiral Kirby, John Kirby, former admiral, who must understand what you just articulated, Colonel, is just a mouthpiece saying what his bosses in the Pentagon or the State Department I don’t remember who his bosses are. He works for the National Security Council. So I guess he works for Jake Sullivan. But what his bosses want him to say, which is the manifestation of this Joe Biden bellicosity.
Col Doug Macgregor: Of course, I think that’s universally true.
In fact, right now, I think you can say it applies to virtually all the retired four stars and three stars and the active duty four stars and three stars. I don’t know of anybody who has voiced privately or publicly any opposition to the dumb policies. Now, I may be wrong and something has happened behind closed doors. I hope so. But, no, I think that’s true.
Judge Napolitano: A little while ago, I don’t know how President Putin knows this. I don’t think the British announced it. I guess Russian Intel told him. He said that:
“British plans to deliver ammunition with depleted uranium to Ukraine would trigger a Russian response.”
That caused the press to ask the American Air Force general, who is a spokesperson for the Defense Department – this is a very short clip. If the US would be delivering ammunition with depleted uranium.
Before we get into what depleted uranium is and how dangerous this is, and why Putin reacted the way he did, here’s the US Air Force general basically saying:
“It’s not coming from us.”
General: They said that they were going to send munitions with depleted uranium.
Interviewer: Is the US sending any munitions with depleted uranium to Ukraine?
General: Yeah. So on your latter question, not to my knowledge. We are not.
Judge Napolitano: What is ammunition with depleted uranium, Colonel?
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, the ammunition that the Russians are referring to is tank ammunition. 120 millimeter smooth bore tank ammunition, what we call “sabo rounds”. These are the rounds designed for use against enemy tanks. And what happens is that we take depleted uranium, in other words, used plutonium, if you will, and we integrate that into the alloy that forms the penetrator on the ammunition.
In other words, this long prong, which penetrates the enemy’s armor, has this depleted uranium in it. It has an incendiary effect, which means that it causes anything inside the turret to essentially catch fire. So it not only increases the penetration capability, but has the incendiary effect.
Now, we use that on all the 120 millimeter smooth bore tank rounds that we built for the M1 series tanks. I use those in the Gulf war. They are ferocious! It sounds like a freight train headed down the track at 100 miles an hour. When it leaves the barrel, it flies at more than a mile per second, and it effectively destroys anything that it touches.
Now, the argument is being, since the Gulf War, does this depleted uranium cause damage to the population after the war is over?
In other words, if you go into the damaged equipment or you encounter remnants of this ammunition anywhere, are you in danger of contracting cancer? I’ve heard arguments on both sides saying studies were performed that said no, other studies that say no, it’s unclear. And then one or two out there that insist it’s dangerous. But it is not a nuclear weapon. And people need to understand that. It has no nuclear capability, if you will. It’s just a vastly improved penetrator that has the ability to be incendiary once it strikes the target.
Judge Napolitano: I guess it sounds “nuclear like” because of the phrase depleted uranium. And when I just saw this about ten minutes before you and I came on, I thought, I wonder if President Putin is so upset. Why is he so upset? If this is ammunition with which he’s familiar? Do the Russians have similar ammunition to put in their tanks?
Col Doug Macgregor: Not that I’m aware. No. We’re the ones that developed it. It’s very good. It’s very effective. I could attest to that personally. And as far as I can tell, no one has contracted cancer from being near it, around it, or having used it. And I certainly loaded rounds and spent a great deal of time around it. And I was also on the battlefield where we fought after the war and saw evidence for the damage that inflicted.
I don’t know what President Putin’s information is. And the Russians are pretty sober minded. And normally, I think if they knew what they were dealing with, they would not make these comments suggesting that this had, quote, unquote, “nuclear implications”. But perhaps they’ve decided that this has some propaganda value that harms us in the public eye. I have no idea.
Judge Napolitano: If the British send this to Ukraine, does the Ukraine military have the tanks from which to propel this? Or do they need different equipment, or do they need Americans there again to show them how to use it?
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, the smooth bore cannon, the 120 millimeter, is a Reinmatal product. It’s a German gun. The British use it, we use it. We and the British have both manufactured it under license. So it could conceivably be fired from a Leopard tank. It could be fired from a Challenger. And if someday M1 tanks arrive from the United States, it could obviously be fired through a 120 millimeter smooth bore cannon on an American tank.
Judge Napolitano: Earlier today, I spoke with a mutual friend of ours, former CIA operative and iconoclast – like you – Ray McGovern, and I asked him if the CIA is sick and tired of false information getting its way to the White House or if the truth is finally making its way there. I think you’ll find his answer, which is a little on the long side, but typically McGovernesque, there’s this little section where he imitates Lavrov speaking English with Russian accent. It’s only McGovern can do. But I want you to listen to this. It’s food for a lot of thought. Colonel.
Col Doug Macgregor: Okay.
Judge Napolitano: Are there realists in the CIA who can say? Look, we’re on the ground. Ukraine is not going to win this. Is this message getting to Lloyd Austin, Tony Blinken and President Biden?
Ray McGovern: No. The CIA is totally corrupted. Lloyd Austin, he was guilty of fixing the intelligence on Syria. I mean, he was head of Centcom. 51 DIA Defense Intelligence Agency analysts complained formally to the IG at the Pentagon that he and his top coterie of officers were falsifying what they were saying about Syria. So there’s no hope for Austin. With respect to Bill Burns, who I had initial hopes that he could stand up to these guys. Forget about it!
Judge Napolitano: That’s the current head of the CIA?
Ray McGovern: Yeah. And he was the guy that Sergey Larov newly appointed in those days, foreign Minister Russia. He called Burns in and said:
“Look, Mr. Burns, this is a red line. Nyet means nyet! No Ukraine in NATO!”
And he reported that. We have the cable. We have the cable because of WikiLeaks. All right. And it’s authentic. If I’ve seen one cable from Embassy Moscow, I’ve probably seen a couple of thousand. Okay! So he was warned about that. And now what does Bill Burns say?:
“Well, the attack on Ukraine was unprovoked. It was unprovoked!”
Well, [chuckling] here’s Lavrov telling him in 2008:
“You’re going to provoke us intervening!”
And now Bill Burns have become a propagandist.
Judge Napolitano: I would imagine you agree with just about all of that, Colonel.
Col Doug Macgregor: I think, unfortunately, all the top leadership in the military, the State Department, in the federal bureaucracy in general, is compromised. We have to accept that fact. We’ve always had a problem with senior officers who were, I would say, economical with the truth.
But now we have people that are just not telling the truth.
Judge Napolitano: You’re being charitable. McGovern is saying that a four star at the time, who’s now the Secretary of Defense, was lying to the public and lying to his bosses and twisting the truth that CIA agents risk their lives to get.
Col Doug Macgregor: We’ll go back and bring up some old film footage of Generals Hertling and Petraeus, in, I think, who was it? Marty Dempsey. Others talking about the high quality of the Iraqi army and it’s readiness to fight, and how well prepared and well trained it was and so forth. This is not new. These people are being expected to support the party line because that’s what the policy-makers want. If you don’t do that, if you don’t want to do that, then you’re not going to get promoted. You’re not going to have those jobs.
So this is not really news. Ray McGovern is right.
Now, Ray is wrong on something else, because I have had the privilege of listening to Mr. Lavrov in private. And his English is almost accent free! [Napolitano bursts out laughing] It’s extremely good. I wish that most of the people in the US government spoke English as well as Mr. Lavrov does.
Judge Napolitano: I’m going to have to play this little segment for the great Ray the next time he’s on. He’ll get a kick out of it.
Colonel, are you surprised that Bakhmut has yet to fall?
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, not really, because I think the Ukrainian leadership has vacillated between abandoning it as essentially a black hole for Ukrainian blood and treasure, and at the same time holding it against all odds for the purpose of demonstrating to their supporters in the West that they, quote, unquote, “can still win”. They’ve been going back and forth on this for months. And I think the Russian position has been, we don’t have to take this tomorrow morning, we don’t have to take this next week. We’re eventually going to have it. We’re going to own it all! It’s just a question of time.
And if the Ukrainians want to commit tens of thousands of their soldiers to hold this place, well, come on in. Take up a position. I watched a film just yesterday of a Ukrainian brigade trying to move forward in the Donbas not far from Bakhmut, off the road. These were all dismounted infantrymen, large numbers of them. And the Russians who filmed this fired one artillery round into the midst of them, confirmed that they had it, and then essentially opened up with all the guns. Within a few minutes, virtually everyone in the brigade was annihilated.
In other words, this intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, complex of platforms, everything from space down to ground level, now provides accurate and quick targeting data for the use of Soviet, or excuse me, Russian artillery, Russian missiles, Russian rockets. And in the space of a minute or two, such that as Ukrainian formations move forward before they ever get a chance to close with the Russian enemy, they are taken under fire and largely annihilated.
Judge Napolitano: Colonel, is it common for Russian forces, American forces, I don’t know if the Ukrainians can do this. To film their destruction of the enemy in real time. Did you see this in real time?
Col Doug Macgregor: No, I saw the film. It was shown to me on a video.
In other words, it had been taken at the time of this event, and I don’t know exactly where it was, but I know that it was real, and I know it was in the Donbas in eastern Ukraine.
Do we do this sort of thing sure. I mean, you’ve seen gun camera footage from American attack helicopters that show people launching Hellfire missiles and rockets at Afghan or Iraqi insurgents. And you watch the missiles reach the targets, detonate and kill everyone.
So this is not unusual. And frequently, it’s done for higher headquarters to see how the effects of the weapons work. People want to know that what they’re doing is working.
Now, in this particular case, I think they were trying to demonstrate just how good the system they built works. And the Russians have built a very effective system.
Judge Napolitano: Colonel, I want to ask you a question that’s a little political. And if you don’t want to answer it, please to tell me, and I asked this with a lot of respect.
Donald Trump has been arguing that if he were president, this war wouldn’t be going on. You, of course, held a senior position in the Defense Department for part of President Trump’s presidency. I think, you know, this. Some of us tried to talk him into appointing you as Secretary of Defense. Didn’t happen. Maybe it’ll happen in the future. But what would or could he have done or what would you have advised him to do if President Putin began the Special Military Operation under Donald Trump’s watch?
Col Doug Macgregor: Well, let’s go back to your first question about Donald Trump, had he been president, there is no doubt in my mind that President Trump would have picked up the phone and instantly called President Putin and asked him:
“What are you doing? Why are you doing it? And can we talk about this?”
In other words, if it had gone that far, right, I think that probably President Trump would have talked to him earlier, before he mobilized forces and moved them into Ukraine. Now, could he have prevented it? That’s difficult question simply because, remember, he had appointed large numbers of people who were not supportive of him, who actually subverted him. The general officers that produced the debacle at Kabul Airport when we left Afghanistan were the same general officers who were there when he was president.
In other words, it’s important for people to understand that his intentions were clear, unambiguous, and pure. No doubt about it. He was utterly opposed to war with Russia or China. His emphasis with China was always economic and business, never military. His emphasis with Russia was never on the military side. On contrary, he saw lots of room for co-operation and a coincidence of interest in a number of key areas. So he was unalterably opposed to conflict.
But again, he had lots of people under him that, regardless of what he thought and said and did, took the opposite position.
I mean, I sat there in the Oval Office and listened to it. People were absolutely insistent that we were going to face in the future, and already did existential threats from China and Russia.
So preventing it? Maybe. Stopping it, maybe. But with all the trouble that he had on the Hill. You could look at the people on the Hill who are virtually, for the most part, the same actors that were there when he was President. You have the same generals in many cases. Some of them have turned over, certainly in the case of the Secretary of Defense. But they were all of one mind. We have to harm, fight, damage, hurt, use whatever verb you want, Russia.
Judge Napolitano: Colonel, this is a brilliant, gifted, firsthand and courageous answer, and I’m deeply grateful for it. I want to go back just for a moment before we finish to where we started. I’m still fascinated just because of my general understanding of some of which comes from you, of the way heads of state operate when they say things in public.
This statement by President Xi “It’s time to consider a ceasefire.” Surely there’s someone high up in the Pentagon or the State Department or the National Security Council who will say to someone north of that person:
“This is very interesting, let’s consider it.”
Is there nobody in Joe Biden’s realm that’s going to say:
“Here, Xi is making sense. It’s time to do something about talking, because this fight is not going to end the way you want it to end, Joe!”
Col Doug Macgregor: This is a very important question. First of all, if you go back to the Bay of Pigs operation, when President Kennedy was in the White House, he was not fully briefed on everything that was going on, and he was effectively presented the plan as a fate accompli. This is going to happen. We’ve got it all under control. Allen Dulles said:
“We’re good to go.”
And he launched it without understanding it’s implications. He subsequently met with President Eisenhower, and President Eisenhower said:
“Well, President Kennedy, with whom did you speak?”
And he said:
“Well, I talked to the Secretary of Defense. I talked to the head of the CIA. I talked to one or two other people.”
He said:
“Well, that’s not enough. There were other people you should have consulted with on the National Security Council, people who told you that you were walking into a bear trap.”
And now, ultimately, Kennedy acted to fire the head of the CIA, and he did not make that mistake again. That was a very costly mistake obviously. We’re lucky that we got out of it as easily as we did. It hurt a lot of people, unfortunately.
I think you have a similar set of circumstances right now. People do not think these things through. They’re not thoroughly planned. There’s too much emotion, too much passion, not enough reason. There’s no one who sits there and says:
“Before we do anything, we should ask ourselves, what do we gain and what do we lose? Is the gain worth the loss?”
Now, that seems very simple, but people don’t do it!
And that’s why President Trump’s position was so vital and essential in June of 2019, when he was presented with a fait accompli. General Mackenzie and SenCom had sent this Global Hawk on the outskirts of the Air Defense Identification Zone that belonged to Iran, right up the center of the Persian Gulf, knowing full well that the Iranians would probably shoot it down! And gosh, we had a strike package ready to go. Air Force, army missiles, everything you can think of navy, strike package ready to launch! And sure enough, they shot the Global Hawk down, and suddenly the entire Joint Staff descends upon the White House. The War Council is held:
“Sir, we’re ready to launch the strike package!”
And Donald Trump sits there and says:
“Well, why? Was this a manned aircraft? Was this a deliberate provocation?”
And he just went through and asked these questions. They said:
“Well, it was unmanned.”
“So you’re telling me no one was hurt?”
“No, no one was hurt.”
“And how many people are we going to kill with this strike package that you want to put together?”
Well, they started adding up the numbers, and they got up to a few hundred. And he said:
“Then what happens? No!”
He said:
“No, it’s over. I’m not going to do it. Thank you very much.”
But we know that Bolton, at the time is a National Security Adviser, General Mackenzie, I’m told Secretary of State, Pompeo, they were all cheering:
“Let’s go, let’s get this done! Finally, we get the war we want with Iran!”
So fortunately, he was there to say no.
The problem now is that these things have taken on a life of their own. Did someone go to the President and say:
“We want to fly two B-52s over the Baltic, within 50 nautical miles of St. Petersburg, and practice the release of cruise missiles targeting Russia.”
And expect Russians to do nothing?
Judge Napolitano: President?
Col Doug Macgregor: Come on! I don’t think anybody did. So who signed off on that one? Jake Sullivan? And remember, this relationship between the National Security Advisor to President is a very important one. There is a memorandum, an Executive Order, if you will, that stipulates all the authorities that are devolved from the President to the National Security Advisor. These are things, much of which are classified. So they don’t even need to go through the President. We don’t know how that impacted this particular decision making process.
But this whole business is out of control! Someone at the helm should be holding the reins very tightly, making it abundantly clear what we will and will not do. All this nonsense about strategic ambiguity is a disaster. This is a time for absolute clarity. This is a time for the phone lines to burn up from Washington to Moscow immediately! It’s not happening, Judge. And I’m worried.
Judge Napolitano: On that, we’ll finish for today. Colonel, thank you so much! We’ll see you again soon, my dear friend.
Col Doug Macgregor: Okay, thank you.
Judge Napolitano: Boy if you appreciate what we do, like and subscribe, you’ll see more of this brilliant and courageous Colonel.

@andyjacobson4098 Typical knee jerk response. So unbecoming and not even an argument. Just, bomb throwing, name calling and labeling…sort of fascistic. Ever see the film “Invasion of a The Body Snatchers”. Watch closely and then consider when the film was made, why it was made and the geopolitics of the time and then examine your response.

Since more than a year: The regulations of the UN Security Council and its quorum can and must be urgently adapted to current global needs! Abolish the veto right for all cross-border aggressors and lower the yes-quorum for sending a peacekeeping mission to a 2/3 majority.
Not only UN Security Council states already have armies that could be deployed as part of a short-term UN-coordinated international task force for fair referendums (plebiscites) in disputed crisis areas such as: Kurdistan (Northern Syria, Western Iran), DR Congo, Eastern Ukraine, Jammu and Kashmir, Nagorno-Karabakh (Central Armenia & Azerbaijan), Western China (Tibet and Xinjiang), Palestine, Southern Morocco (Western Sahara)…
In addition to a choice between two or more competing states, fair referendums in a disputed region must, of course, also offer the possibility of fully self-determined sovereignty. (A state transition such as that from Yugoslavia to Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia…. – or from Czechoslovakia to the Czech Republic and Slovakia). BREXIT is also possible without bloodshed…
Do we actually only admire those “representatives of the people” whose administration favors bloody conflicts? As soon as people again honor good proposals of individuals for fair settlement of disputes (and compare, discuss and select corresponding improved regulations), we will be able to climb the next rung on the evolutionary ladder.

Court in Italy found the state guilty for sending their Carabinieri to Kosovo and Metohija, to locations attacked with depleted uranium. 45 soldiers got cancer, and Italy has been paying big damages for this. 11:37 As I wrote earlier somewhere else, it sounds ‘nuclear’ because depleted uranium produces some radioactivity, namely alpha decay, alpha rays are low energy radiations that are stopped by a simple sheet of paper. Those are helium atom cores. As colonel McGregor explained, the tank rounds have an incendiary effect, the danger comes from the contaminated smoke or dust that can be inhaled and the human body can hardly eliminate those particles that carry on their decay inside the body causing tumours…

Hello judge, best regards to you and your guest in the clip. I deeply respect both of you and wish you to continue with what you are doing for years to come. Ordinary citizens need sources of information like yours, and we appreciate guests like Col. MacGregor. I have been watching closely many of your videos, have commented on some of them, and genuinely appreciate your work, judge. Today I’d like to weigh in on the Colonel’s explanation of the depleted uranium munition. It does not take much digging to determine how harmful the depleted uranium munition is to our health and the environment. It seems safe to assume that Colonel can quickly obtain data about the Italian KFOR members’ health issues even today, some 20+ years since their service in Kosovo.
On the other hand, Serbian medical officials have submitted a detailed report to the US regarding the incidence of various cancers in their southern region. The overall impact of depleted uranium on the people who live in that region is still unknown because the half-life of depleted uranium is anything but short. Once again, thank you for what you have been doing, for what you are doing, and for what you will do, judge. Cent’anni.

Honestly the fact the US government and most of its citizens have not realised who they are provoking and how powerful the Russian army is astounds me. This is not Russia from the cold war back then it was a fifty-fifty whether the US could defeat them it is not that now not even close. It is obvious to see through this proxy war that even all of NATO combined can’t stand up to them and they are using a small force of 150k in Ukraine made of primarily eastern Ukraine volunteers and that force has wiped out the equivalent of three armies in 12 months.

I think Col. Macgregor may be incorrect in his benign view of depleted uranium. “Uranium ore is weakly radioactive, which could damage DNA and cause disease. However, the chemical toxicity of uranium may be a greater risk than its radioactivity. In laboratory studies, uranium that was depleted of its most radioactive isotope still caused DNA damage and cell death. Small particles of uranium-containing dust could be inhaled by people and penetrate deep within their lungs.”

To add to the depleted uranium topic, i’m a Army Veteran who was in close proximity to a old Russian T54/55 tank that was taken out by a depleted uranium round and i contracted Hexavalent Chromium which i’m suffering with now years down the line. It has ruined my lungs and slowly my body too. Depleted Uranium is highly dangerous, probably not when it’s loaded into a barrel and fired off but what it strikes in the end and the immediate area in and around the target may be hightly contagious and or radiated. I was fit and healthy all my life and this stuff has destroyed me prematurely. No military doctor or civvy doctor or anyone from the military to the top 1% will ever take the blame after giving orders that would knowingly ruin a person’s life. Troops are really just cannon fodder for big military wigs and crazy politcians. War always happens when you have politicians who failed in their one job that is to keep the peace but instead turned greedy that leads to lots of innocent deaths and hardship and none of the politicians ever get to see the end of a rope or get locked up for life or get the death penalty for the lives they took because they’re inhept in their job.

As Russia and China continue to navigate their complicated relationship, it is becoming increasingly clear that the alliance is not without its challenges. Despite Russia’s repeated efforts to secure weapon supplies from China, they have thus far been unsuccessful. This lack of cooperation could be viewed as a potential weakness in the Russian-Chinese alliance, which could have serious implications for the future of the partnership. Furthermore, Russia’s preference for spending time in French summer houses is an intriguing facet of this discussion, as it raises questions about the extent to which Russia is truly invested in its alliance with China.

In the cases of Yugoslavia and Iraq, where depleted uranium shells were used, it’s been shown that they affect not only the health of the population, the civilians, whom they are used against, but also the armies that use them because of their high toxicity and radiation.

We are in Iraq , and it is obvious that there is increased level of cancers specifically in south of Iraq especially after Gulf-war.
If you go to Hiwa oncology hospital in Sulaimaniyah , you will see a large numbers of patients are from south of Iraq who got a variety of tumors .
and also there are many studies on this issue which confirm relation of depleted uranium to increased level f cancers in Iraq.

I am too, he has managed to make hundreds of predictions during this war, only for the opposite to happen. It’s incredible. Pure change wouldn’t come close to how wrong he has been. My favorite was when in late August he said Ukraine’s army was completely decimated and had no offensive power left, and only “fools” in the west believed Ukraine could counter attack, And he said Russia was preparing an attack towards Kharkiv that would happen in early September, and finish off Ukraine in that oblast if not the whole war. Of course we know the opposite happened in September. But that’s just one of his many greatest hits.

Depleted uranium emits Alpha, Beta, & Gamma radiation, which can pose health risk if people are exposed to high levels of it for long periods of time. However, the radiation emitted by depleted uranium is relatively weak, & the risk of radiation exposure is generally considered to be low, as long as appropriate safety measures are taken.
There have been reports of increased rates of cancer & birth defects in areas where DU was used (eg. Yugoslavia) , but it is difficult to establish direct link.

Apparently, the depleted uranium isn’t all burnt in the explosion and it leaves the aftermath dust that pollutes the soil and underground water for decades to come. In the territories where such missiles were used by NATO (for instance, in former Yugoslavia), the prevalence of ontological illnesses among affected populations increased quite dramatically.

Deadly Dust – Depleted Uranium (Frieder Wagner 2007)
German documentary film with english subtitles produced by Mr. Frieder Wagner (original name is “Todesstaub”). The film is about war crimes in the former Yugoslavia, particularly in Bosnia, Serbia and Kosovo and Iraq. The use of depleted uranium is made genocide of those countries that is not remembered in the history of mankind, even the Nazi crimes remained low compared to the genocide, which is still ongoing and will last almost forever, unfortunately. In contaminated areas people are still at risk of a lot of people do not know and this is the worst because it is invisible genocide.

DU rounds heavily CONTAMINATE the area after striking armor. DU penetration mechanism is kinetic erosion of armor, and upon penetrating composite armor layers, remaining penetrator expels fine depleted uranium dust which heavily contaminates the area, especially if the munitions inside the penetrated tank detonate. Explosive pressure wave carries contaminated uranium dust outside of the tank and contaminates the surrounding area.
That’s why Russians consider DU as radioactive contamination weapon, regardless if it’s primary or secondary effect, because recovery of armor struck by DU rounds will require activation of nuclear biohazard logistics, and then it automatically becomes a matter for nuclear forces.

A 2022 UN Environment Programme (UNEP) report said depleted uranium was an environmental concern in Ukraine.
“Depleted uranium and toxic substances in common explosives can cause skin irritation, kidney failure and increase the risks of cancer,” it said.
“The chemical toxicity of depleted uranium is considered a more significant issue than the possible impacts of its radioactivity,” it added.

The principle that Kirby noted was that any cease fire mean that the US admits to losing this war. This can’t be accept by the US because the US is the top dog and no one can defeat it in anything anywhere. This is why the world is sick of this approach because the rest of us just want to live in peace and get a chance at prosperity.

For MacGregor’s edification, “Depleted uranium ( DU; also referred to in the past as Q-metal, depletalloy or D-38) is uranium with a lower content of the fissile isotope 235 U than natural uranium. Natural uranium contains about 0.72% 235 U , while the DU used by the U.S. Department of Defense contains 0.3% 235 U or less.” Miners exposed to uranium has a very high level of cancer so reducing a very small amount by 50 percent really does not mitigate the damage it can cause especially when the exposure is now over a lifetime. This is an inhumane weapon with long term effects and should be banned, period. Putin is over exaggerating the dirty bomb thing but is on the right track. The US could care less what it does to its sons in the military, just look at what it has done to them.

Even when we generally agree with the discussion, we need to maintain our critical facilities. I am quite doubtful about the downplaying of depleted uranium I heard in this interview. Here is a quote from Dr. Chris Martenson: “This is wrong. It is immoral. It is not ‘just’ a war crime, but a crime against humanity. DU munition use should immediately result in the using country being shunned and banned for 50 years from the international community.”

There will be no large-scale counteroffensive of the Zelensky regime in the direction of Bakhmut, which I said today on my channel, explaining why I think so.
Moreover, soon Zelensky will lose control not only over Bakhmut, but also over Avdiivka. And then the Russian forces will establish control over Kupyansk, Liman, Seversk, and a little further south even over Ugledar.
The issue will be resolved in the coming weeks before a Russian offensive begins against Zelensky’s last line of defense in Kramatorsk and Slovyansk.

Depleted uranium is an alpha emitter. It is radioactive, just less so than naturally occurring uranium. It is not so much an external hazard, since alpha radiation only travels short distances and is easily blocked by any sort of material. BUT… when it is ingested or inhaled, the alpha can do serious damage to the cells that the alpha particles travel through.

@DIREWOLFx75

The danger from DU is NOT radiation. The danger is TOXICITY. Due to the fact that when used, it is essentially aerosolised due to the incendiary explosion. While it is still in ammunition shape, it’s nothing problematic and extremely unlikely to cause any harm. But once it becomes a powder that spreads into the region, especially into the groundwater. It’s horribly dangerous.
And by now, there is no longer even the slighest doubt that the danger is both very real and MASSIVE.
Locations where DU was used in Yugoslavia and Iraq have dramatically higher levels of disease and unhealth.
Serbia is considering making it a civil lawsuit against USA for the thousands upon thousands of people falling ill and dying from it. The only reason they’ve not already done it is because they have no chance of getting a fair trial.
Serbia is literally considering EVACUATING the regions where it has mostly gone into the surroundings. That’s how bad it is.
Calling it harmless is like calling heroin good for your health.
Putting DU into the grounds of a breadbasket region is beyond a warcrime, it is literally a crime against humanity.
A SUITABLE retaliation against UK for sending DU would be for Russia to destroy MULTIPLE nuclear powerplants in ways causing them to spread massive contamination. That’s how bad it is.
.
“what do we gain, what do we lose”
No, the first thing you should ask yourself is, “is this morally ok?”.
Because that’s the one thing USA apparently never does. It’s never a matter of doing the right thing, it’s always about how much bad things CAN WE GET AWAY WITH. That’s not an acceptable way of treating the rest of the world.
Guess why Africa hates USA.

I know that radon (a radioactive gas emerging from the depths of the Earth, often collecting in the building basements, itself undergoing alpha-decay as U-238 does) is considered dangerous in construction if radiation in the air exceeds 4 picocurie per liter.) Specific radioactivity of U-238 is 12.4 Becquerel per milligram, that’s 335 picocurie/mg. Thus, a single kilogram (considering how dense uranium is, that’s about three spoonfuls) of pulverized U-238 contaminates 83,700 liters of air; and unlike quickly decaying radon, uranium stays in the environment for billions of years – and please tell me how many kilograms of it does each round contain, and how many thousands of rounds are to be used in the kind of the war we are speaking about.
DU munitions are nothing short of a dirty bomb.

What is Depleted Uranium?
To better understand what depleted uranium (DU) is, it’s necessary to recall that uranium ore contains a mix of isotopes, namely, forms of the element with slightly different physical properties.
This ore is processed to increase the content of the most radioactive isotope, U-235, which is used as nuclear fuel and to make nuclear warheads. The by-product of this uranium enrichment is known as DU, which is still radioactive, but at a much lower level than the starting material.
What is DU Used for?
The main applications of DU pertain to its high density. DU has been used as a counterbalance weight in aircraft, missiles, and even forklift trucks and boat keels.
Additionally, DU is in place in armor-plate for tanks and in armor-piercing shells that cause significant damage upon penetration. It is the very kind of projectile that the UK pledged to deliver to Ukraine, along with the British main battle tanks Challenger 2.
How Do DU Shells Work?
Apart from the explosive substance, a DU projectile typically consists of a plastic cap, an aluminum sabot, a DU penetrator and a thread for fins.
When the DU shell, for example, penetrates a target vehicle, the larger fragments tend to chew up whatever is inside, while the pyrophoricity of the uranium increases the likelihood that the vehicle’s fuel and/or ammunition will explode.
The technical term used to describe the process is called “behind-the-target effectiveness.”
Is it Safe to Say DU Poses Radiation Hazard?
Yes, because all uranium isotopes are radioactive. As it has already been mentioned, DU is much less radioactive, typically about 40% less than unprocessed uranium.
DU’s radioactivity is mainly related to alpha particles, which do not penetrate the skin. This means that a radiation hazard from DU mainly stems from breathing it in dust, eating or drinking contaminated food or water, or from shrapnel piercing through human skin.
While NATO claims that no human cancer of any type has been seen as a result of exposure to DU, British Army doctors previously warned the UK Ministry of Defence that exposure to DU increased the risk of developing lung, lymph and brain cancer, and recommended a series of safety precautions.
The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry in turn warns that to be exposed to radiation from DU, “you have to eat, drink, or breathe it, or get it on your skin”, something that will most likely affect the normal functioning of the kidney, brain, liver, heart, and numerous other systems of a human organism.
Russian military expert Alexey Leonkov told Sputnik in this regard that although this kind of munition does not belong to nuclear weapons, fallout from the use of DU shells is partly tantamount to that of nuclear arms. According to him, the explosion of DU projectiles causes ionizing radiation that remains in such an amount that is dangerous to human health.
“The remnants of the use of this ammunition infect the terrain and armored vehicles. Due to the fact that destroyed armored vehicles are not immediately removed from battlefields, radioactive substances penetrate both the soil and open water reservoirs. Without special measures to denuclearize soil and water, it is impossible to get rid of the consequences from the use of these munitions,” Leonkov pointed out.
He was echoed by Igor Nikulin, a military expert and former member of the United Nations Commission on Biological and Chemical Weapons, who explained in an interview with Sputnik that at the time of the explosion of a depleted uranium shell, its core turns into radioactive dust, which scatters across the surroundings, infects the water and enters human lungs.
“The half-life of such uranium is several billion years, which is why the fallout will be in place for many centuries,” Nikulin said.
Which Conflicts Saw DU Shells Used?
The NATO war machine has used DU munitions in many of its campaigns since the end of the Cold War, sowing up to 2,300 tons of DU across Iraq during the 1991 Gulf War and the 2003 invasion of the country, also using the weapons in Afghanistan and Syria on a smaller scale.
Separately in 1999, the US and its allies spent 78 days bombing the now-dissolved nation of Yugoslavia and contaminating the Balkans with at least 15 tons of DU munitions.
In the wake of these bombings, Serbia suffers from one of the highest cancer rates in Europe, with close to 60,000 oncology diagnoses there made each year, and cancer among children is as much as two-and-a-half times above the European average. In the decades since the 1999 events, Serbian medics have also recorded an alarming rise in infertility, autoimmune diseases, and mental disorders.
Leonkov told Sputnik that in this vein, the consequences of the use of this kind of munition affected both the civilian population and the military personnel who used depleted uranium during the above-mentioned conflicts.
“1.5 million such shells were used during the hostilities in Iraq, where tens of thousands of citizens suffered from ionizing radiation and there was a sharp outbreak of oncology and an exacerbation of chronic diseases that then led to casualties. As it turned out later, neither the civilian population of Iraq nor civilians in former Yugoslavia received any compensation from US and UK authorities,” the Russian expert noted.

Depleted uranium (DU) is a RADIOACTIVE isotope in spent fuel rods from nuclear reactors and may contain other more persistent alpha isotopes like plutonium, with a half life of millions of years and remains radioactive for eons. The kinetic energy projectile weapons are in a sealed source casing so radiation exposure is minimal (if at all) prior to detonation. Once detonated, radiation is released into the environment and remains there for anyone to come along and be exposed to it. If ingested, alpha radiation wreaks havoc in the body and causes cancer in the long term. There are plenty of studies and much documentation of the effects and videos of the horrible illnesses and birth defects these munitions caused in Iraq. I’ve studied this extensively and presented the information to my state’s environmental agency so they would not use DU shaped charges in gas drilling operations. They acknowledged the hazards and their proposed regulations included the requirement that no shaped charges containing DU be used to perforate the casings and ultimately, they banned fracking in my state.

When we talk about depleted uranium and the damage it causes, I think I have an excellent knowledge of its consequences. NATO used it in the bombing of my country and they dropped over 15 tons of rockets and bombs with depleted uranium, which Mr. Colonel McGregor (whom I respect a lot despite everything) knows very well because he coordinated the attack at that time. The consequences are still (after 20 years) appearing in new ways, we have stillborn babies, born with developed cancer, deformities… Mortality from cancer in those areas has increased by over 200% among the population. The best indicator of all this is the story of the Italian contingent of military peacekeepers who were stationed in those areas after the war, who began to die of cancer in large numbers (and are still dying) and who sued and won the case and were compensated for that it happens to them. Unlike my people and my country…

Russians do have depleted uranium ammunition virtually for every caliber at their disposal. For their 125mm tank cannons they had the 3VBM20 shot with the 3BM48 depleted uranium penetrator. Main Russian concern with these shots is toxicity of depleted uranium after it impacted and became aerosol. Land can not be used for farming if depleted uranium had been aerosolized and fell on it. Micro particles will get into food, will poison, and to a lesser extent irradiate their victims. Breathing in dust that contains such particles is even more dangerous. They equate such rounds to chemical warfare. If you check birth defects statistics in Iraq, you may understand why. Current Russian anti armor rounds that are in use are all tungsten alloys.

Depleted Uranium is approx 40% less radioactive than Uranium and is subject to the same disposal protocols as spent fuel rods. It is part of the process of enriching Uranium material to create the fuel rods and forms an alloy 1.7 times denser than lead hence its ability to penetrate armour. The reports saying it is safe comes almost entirely from the users/producers of the munitions and while its isotopes do not generally penetrate the skin during handling the dust and fragmentation caused when they explode coats the inside of tanks and the ground. This dust and fragmentation can be ingested and according to extensive research by published studies showed that cases of leukemia in children in Basra increased by 60 percent between 1990 and 1997, and that the number of children born with severe birth defects increased by a factor of three.

Problem with depleted uranium rounds is chemistry. Deleted uranium rounds burns when they hit their target. This leaves behind fine uranium oxide powder that is easy to breath in. Uranium on its own is toxic. You can get heavy metal poisoning. And given that in combat alot of shells are used…. so there is a lot of Uranium oxide powder. Then after the conflict is over… uranium oxide can get into the water supply (it is weakly water soluble) and like many heavy metals, it can bio-accumulate. So as you go up the food chain, the amount of uranium increases.
Essentially the use of DU round in Ukraine will contaminate the fertile field of Ukraine, so for the next few decades the food grown in Ukraine will fail to meet safety standards of the developed world, unsuitable even for animal feed. Ukraine produce after a war with DU rounds will only be purchased by the poorest of the poor who have no choice but to eat food contaminated with heavy metals. What price Ukraine agricultural produce can command will be similarly low. Many farmers will go bust. DU rounds will be have effects that will last longer than this war.

I knew several troops after Desert Storm that were in or near DU firing guns that got particles in their lungs that were shed as the rounds traveled down the barrels that caused horrible, chronic, sometimes eventually fatal health issues. DU contamination was a known endemic issue in Kuwait for decades after the war (yes, it’s still a problem). Disappointing. I intrinsically trusted him up to this point. He’s too informed on everything else to not be aware he was outright lying about the effects of DU our troops and the areas it has been used. Sad day.

Depleted Uranium is still an Alpha particle emitter. This is not dangerous as such until it is ingested. When that happens it sits there emitting Alpha particles for hundreds of years. If it gets into the food chain it can be easily ingested without knowledge and the body will recognise it as a chemical compound rather that a radio-active compound. Very often it is “sent” by the body to the thyroid, which it then destroys (hence the use of Iodine tablets to try to prevent this). It can also be “sent” to other parts of the body such as the kidneys. This is a simple answer so I know it is not the complete description. I studied these effects in the military as part of my job.

DU mainly emits alpha particle radiation. Alpha particles don’t have enough energy to go through skin. As a result, exposure to the outside of the body is not considered a serious hazard. However, if DU is ingested or inhaled, it is a serious health hazard.
Depleted uranium is a dense metal produced as a by-product of enrichment of natural uranium for nuclear fuel. It is still radioactive, but at a much lower level than the starting material.

The point of concern about uranium ammunition is not how it is used, but what consequences uranium leaves after use. Ask the Italian soldiers who were members of KFOR after the bombing of the former Yugoslavia (today’s Serbia) How much uranium were those soldiers irradiated. Against Serbia, NATO used bombs with depleted uranium, cluster bombs… They violated international law and used prohibited weapons.

All uranium is radioactive, depleted uranium has had as much of the U235 isotope that is used for bombs or in reactors removed. Natural uranium contains around 0.7% U235 the uranium used in DU ammunition contains around 0.03% U235. Handling the rounds is probably relatively safe the danger comes from breathing or ingesting the dust of uranium oxides that are produced and spread around when the projectiles hit the target.

I do not know if the use of depleted uranium shells affects cancer or if there is another reason.
But it is not important. What matters is what the Kremlin thinks about it.
And in the Kremlin they think of it as a dirty nuclear bomb.
In other words, the use of such shells allows Moscow to launch a nuclear strike on London and its allies and overlord.

I have a great admiration for Colonel McGregor in his frank commentary over the Ukrainian conflict, but his downplaying of the introduction of depleted uranium tipped shells and the radioactive aftermaths is troubling. Since the tanks under his command have actually used these shells, I can understand his reticence in admitting the ongoing horrors that the radioactive dust causes.

I disagree with McGregor on the DU rounds. First, I doubt the Colonel ever hangs out with the people who regularly had 120mm DU Sabot rounds shot at them. Him saying he doesn’t know anyone who contracted cancer from the rounds is a little silly. Secondly, when these penetrators go through the incendiary phase, a radioactive gas is shot out instantly in all directions. If you hold a Geiger counter up to an area like this, you will pick up radioactivity. Obviously, these particles are going to spread out and do what radiation always does. Russia has every right to protest these dirty rounds as well as demonstrates the professionality of the Russian military who do not use these rounds, or nukes on civilians for that matter.

ammunition with depleted uranium is proven to be carcinogenic because it remains for tens of thousands of years. A10 aircraft can also carry DU ammunition. In Kosovo, they used it so that a large number of people fell ill with various cancers (the number of cancer patients increased by over 200 percent, probably more). Italian soldiers won a court where they sued America because they were sent to Kosovo after the bombing and to the parts where depleted uranium was used. it takes tens of thousands of years to decompose the remains of that ammunition.

As to the Judge’s last question, The vast majority of the Officers in the military are not war fighters. They are at the lowest levels kids straight out of college that are filled with subversive propaganda and let loose to command with a subversive bent to their decisions. As they make it to Staff levels and the politics of the military hierarchy come into greater play, they now have more authority over greater and greater swaths of troops and they come into more contact with politicians (both foreign and domestic) and 3 letter government agencies that are now bent on their own power hungry designs.
The Military needs to purge themselves of a great many Officers, especially at the Staff level and above. They need to stop taking in Officers strictly due to holding a degree. Officers at Staff level need to perform or be let go. Officers should be recruited from the Enlisted based on real performance and those wanting to make a career of their service. These are the kid of troops that are patriotic and selfless. Send them to a real Military Academy that will solely focus on troop leading and war fighting, not underwater basket weaving and gender studies. We need patriotic war fighters leading our troops, not Commie subversives bent on the destruction of America.

I really appreciate the views
from both men and I watch regularly, however i feel that it needs to be said about the remarks made about depleted uranium and how the Col. has handled the shells and many of his fellow soldiers also and they have had no health issues as a result. This is clearly smoke and mirrors as Col. McGregor has been and possibly will be again a member of government and cannot be honest about the use of these munitions. The issue with depleted uranium is not the handling or loading of these shells, it is post impact when the harms are caused to the soil and water supply. The rates of rare cancers in Iraq jumped by multiple thousands of percent after the prolonged use of these munitions. Obviously the Col. cannot be honest in this regard as it would be an admission of culpability. It’s always good to read between the lines, even when you agree with someone and respect them.
The use of depleted uranium by the US in Iraq is without doubt a crime against humanity.

In a nutshell .. during an explosion, uranium dust is formed, and various chemical compounds with uranium .. here they will just have a toxic and radiation effect on the body – on the cells of the body … which leads to damage to the cells of various organs and genetic disorders .. and bad offspring .. such torture will also form in the uranium armor of the abrams tank when it gets into it with uranium-free ammunition, from which everyone who inhales it will suffer and eat .. dust and soluble chemical compounds will contaminate the earth water air … something like this..

I have to disagree with the colonel here. The Russians have deployed depleted Uranium sabot rounds before, one example being the 125mm 3bm32, deployed in 1985(Edit: Another example would be the 125mm 3bm29 deployed in 1982). However, the Soviets/Russians removed these rounds from frontline service due to studies indicating that they were carcinogenic to the crew (instead the Russians rely on Tungsten ammunition). It’s also another reason why the Russians do not utilize depleted Uranium for armor protection as the US has been using it on the M1A1-M1A2 SEP(v1-3) Abrams tanks. Also, there are numerous studies out there indicating that the high use of depleted Uranium rounds in places such as Serbia and Iraq have led to extremely high rates of cancer in zones where DU ammunition was utilized, leading to countless birth defects as well.

The irradiated particulates settle in peoples bodies, water sources and in the soil. Depleted Uranium is U-238 which is radioactive (alpha) and decays into Thorium-234 which is a beta emitter. It is indeed a nuclear material because it is radioactive. When the DU muntion hits a target (it splits up into smaller particles) & spreads radioactivity materials into the vicinity of the target. Cleanup workers need to wear protective clothing to avoid getting contaminated. if any material is inhaled or ingested, it can cause cancer & other long term health problems. In addition to DU these tank rounds also include cobalt which is also hazardous.

The B-52 is an ancient airframe. It now contains an upgraded system much like the cylinder of a revolver, except this large cylinder holds a series of individual cruise missles quite like the revolver held individual cartridges.
The individual missles can be dropped through an opening in the belley of the aircraft . Whereupon each missle ignites and flies to it’s preprogrammed target. The cylinder rotates, and drops another one, and again, and again, until empty.
These are very serious aircraft that I wouldn’t want flying along my border!

The A-10 used depleted uranium anti-tank ammunition in Kosovo, Serbia in 1999. In Serbia, the number of cancer patients increased after 1999. I was a member of the ZSB when they entered the security zones towards Kosovo and the ABHO officer told me that it was impossible to decontaminate the area where this ammunition was used. Also, NATO pilots (Italians) who used this ammunition fell ill with cancer, because during the explosion, when the tank’s armor is pierced, radioactive aerosols are created, which the A-10 plane sucked up when flying over the target.

depleted uranium (du) comes from nuclear reactors fuel once all the nuclear isotopes are spent in the nuclear fission reaction … they are still radioactive but minimally … du is very dense, more dense than lead …du is used for the tips of tank armor busting ammo, like lead bullets in regular gun ammo … du is a kinetic bullet, no explosives on the shell tip ‘bullet’ itself … the velocity fired gives the ‘rod’ at the tip a very large amount of kinetic energy, sufficient to turn the du tip into plasma 4,000F or higher on impact, melts the tank armor … the melted metal mix gets inside the tank tower, melts & fires everything inside, fuel & ammo, thus destroying the tank … in this process, the du plasma microparticles dust gets everywhere & poisons land, water, air, soil, plants, animals, humans, rivers, anything … that happened in iraq, leaving the country a mess for thousands of years … plasma du dust is very dangerous in that form, a carcinogen & mutagen …

All the poor kids playing in and around these trashed tanks and shells in Iraq and Afghanistan I feel sorry for as their health was compromised. II would like to see a study done on this now after a good amount of time has passed. I remember about 10 years ago a study was conducted to prove that depleted uranium spent shells were not dangerous and the man chosen in seeking the positive outcome was severely damaged health-wise in conducting the study and could NOT give the response the Armed Forces were demanding.

“In war zones, where ammunition (and armor) made of depleted uranium has been used, the proportion of U-238 in the terrain and water bodies is significantly higher compared to natural. Living conditions in such an area are dangerous, as both chemical and radiological health risks increase significantly. A settlement in such an area can suffer from the high cancer risk and gene mutations caused by depleted uranium for decades, as the half-life of U-238 is 4,468 billion years.”

The Russians do have/tested Depleted Uranium Rounds, so it’s not like they aren’t aware of what they can do. However to my knowledge, the Russians prefer Tungsten for their APFSDS rounds, I’m not exactly sure why, it’s not like they’re very talkative about it, however it’s likely easier to mold, cheaper to make and a lot less complicated to make than Depleted Uranium likely is, all the while retaining similar penetration capabilities compared to Depleted Uranium.

Depleted uranium shells used in the Balkans have been causing longstanding issues around cancer and deformaties in the localities that they were used the same has been shown in Iraq, there are also studies that show that military personnel that were handling the munitions regularly have been subject to increased cases of cancer. Many NATO troops deployed in the balkans have died or become seriously ill as the result of exposure to depleted uranium munitions in particular 30mm. The Italian govt has linked directly to depleted uranium munitions 360 deaths and 7500 serious medical conditions to Italian troops who served in the Balkan campaign with NATO, the same has been reported by other NATO forces who were deployed though many such as the UK have denied this so that they do not have to pay compensation.

The Soviet union BANNED DU rounds because of their proven carcinogenic effects caused by inhaling DU dust which inevitably results as a byproduct of impacts. The Russian military adopted tungsten as their penetrator of choice but largely has retired the idea of penetrators entirely. Currently the weapon of choice is main gun fired antitank HEAT missiles which have double the range, almost 100% hit accuracy, including on moving targets and can hit low flying vehicles. Any DU penetrator equipped tank is a sitting duck on the flat steppes of Ukraine.
This is the one time when I have to vehemently disagree with the colonel. There is a huge spike of genetically mutated babies in the middle east directly after the illegal invasion by the United States and their lapdogs. just because McGregor “handled” the rounds and “walked around” destroyed equipment, doesn’t mean jack shit. The rounds are relatively safe to handle when intact. It’s the long term exposure to DU residue that causes cancer.
The fact that Bellendski is willing to use this crap to poison his own country and the richest soil in Europe (aka the breadbasket of Europe) – says it all – both about him; and the disgusting criminals that are the western hypocrite liar scumbags and the people that elected them. You are all guilty if you supported anyone of these douchebags.

Copy and paste.
The DU munitions have long been the subject of international controversy, with critics of their use highlighting the toxicity and radioactivity of the material. Depleted uranium is used to make the hardened cores of armor-piercing rounds, excelling in this role due its high density. The round’s core evaporates on impact, turning into aerosol and contaminating the environment with uranium

Depleted uranium is not benign. Derived from spent nuclear reactor fuel rods, it has residual radiation levels, that if breathed can cause cancer. Use of depleted uranium by US tank crews created a health threat there that persists to tis day. Even US troops suffered from it. I expect the health impact on Iraqis, military and civilians alike, to be very much greater.
Unfortunately, Col. Macgregor, who I admire greatly, downplayed the health issue in his remarks.

The danger of depleted uranium is not from loading round in the cannon. It is from the sabots to go in the ground when the rain water will come in contact with the radioactive material and then run into other water sources. This is what happened in Iraq and Yugoslavia. These rounds are extremely dangerous for the local population.

I agree with Col. Macgregor on 99% of everything he said except his stance on DU…A 2005 epidemiology review concluded: “In aggregate the human epidemiological evidence is consistent with increased risk of birth defects in offspring of persons exposed to DU.”[13] A 2021 study concluded that DU from exploding munitions did not lead to Gulf War illness in American veterans deployed in the Gulf War.[14] According to 2013 study, despite the use of DU by coalition forces in Fallujah, no DU has been found in soil samples taken from the city,[15]; although another study of 2011 had indicated elevated levels of uranium in tissues of the city inhabitants.[16].

I don’t like the narrative that Russia illegally invaded Ukraine, a country created less than 30 years ago, but historically was part of Russia for over 1,200 years, longer than the US has existed. The people of Donbass voted over 4 different times to be part of Russia and liberated from the Zelenski dictatorship. Russia came invited by the people of Donbass who were promised liberation in the mienske agreement.
Now the US military is in Ukraine? Did the people in a free elections invite the US or NATO troops to Ukraine? Who is the invading military,? Remember zelenski abolished all elections, all political parties but his own, abolished a free press, abolished all religion, etc. There is a much greater case to be made that the US and NATO are the invading military.

MacGregor gave a brilliant argument in “DU” (much better than Dima, or the folks at The Duran who – in a very uneducated manner – made the ridiculous error of asserting it is akin to “using an A-Bomb”). I’ve heard a lot about “Gulf War Syndrome,” but only from the folks in contact with cleaning “DU” from busted tanks which… Being a heavy metal, like tungsten… Has nasty, poisoning effects if not handled and disposed of properly.

Depleted Uranium or U-238 is all the crap* left over from extracting and enriching fuel grade Uranium into fuel pellets.
IRC it’s an alpha, beta and gamma emitter which refers to its radiation penetrating ability.
Alpha particles asfaik don’t penetrate very deeply because even a piece of paper will block it.
Beta is stopped by a piece of aluminium.
Gamma well that’s the particularly bad one.
Gamma rays have great penetrating power hence the reason the use thick walls made from concrete and lead.
The problem with this isotope is when it’s inhaled.
If you breath it in as dust I guess you could eventually get lung cancer.
I can’t remember which element are bone seekers or muscle seekers but if the enter the body maybe they eventually cause various types of cancers or damage kidneys.
What happens if it crosses the placenta? The big question for me is does it cause deformed babies.
From what I read it does.
To me depleted Uranium is a dirty bomb.
It doesn’t fall from the sky and explode it enormous explosion with tremendous power.
It’s not like that.
It ends up as dust.
Dust that settles over everything.
On the ground for example.
Some how it would enter the food chain I guess.
People eat the meat which is contaminated with depleted Uranium or U-238.
Who knows what happens if you eat the meat?
I once read “Plutonium” is particularly bad like this.
PLUTONIUM Is not U-238.
DU is an isotope of the Uranium.
In other words it’s a component of Uranium.
Still how does depleted Uranium affect or affect the human body?
My guess is it really nasty shite.
You only need 6 micrones(plutonium) inhaled into the lungs to set you up with lung cancer.
They tested it on apes.
The ape/s got lung cancer.
I READ DU U-238 causes horrific deformities in children.
The U.S used it mainly in Falluja Iraq back in 2003.
https://www.nuclear-risks.org/en/hibakusha-worldwide/fallujah.html#:~:text=The%20use%20of%20depleted%20uranium,documented%20in%20Fallujah%20after%202003.

The Britain generals didn’t told their soldiers about the use of depleted uranium ammunition in Iraq. Children also in Iraq are born with
anomalies due to depleted uranium amunnition in 2003, there’s a video about, where a German doctor worked, and confirm thst the anomalies on new.born children are caused by the depleted uranium used in the invasion of Iraq in 2003 by the U.S. +UK..

I have been a great fan of Col Douglas Magregor, until now. You, Douglas Magregor are wrong about your assessment of depleted uranium. Depleted Uranium is the ‘waste’ product of Uranium enrichment of U235. 99% of Uranium on in the earths crust is U238. U238 is not fissile U235 IS fissile. U235 can be used as fuel for nuclear reactors, and at higher levels of purity, can be used as fuel for atomic weapons. Depleted Uranium is the 99% left over from the refinement of U235. Other uses for U238 are used as anti armor heat rounds and tampers for thermonuclear weapons.. U238 is very TOXIC! As a heavy metal, it destroys the organs, especially the kidney. U238 also emits Alpha particles. Although alpha particles are not very energetic (they can’t even pass through paper) They are large compared to beta and gamma waves. As a result, they have a high probability of striking cellular organs, (DNA Mitochondria,,etc…) this leads to genetic mutation and cellular death. Where ever depleted uranium has been released it has led to horrible birth defects and death. Look up Falluja Iraq! Depleted uranium weapons are the definition of ‘dirty bombs’. I think the Russians are absolutely justified in their position.

The old tales about `Ukraine in NATO is a provocation’ are old and groundless. Russians can feel an `existential threat’ from Ukraine in NATO but are totally fine with Finland in NATO. The distance from Finland to Moscow is about the same as from Ukraine to Moscow. And distance from Finland to St. Peterburg is just 250 miles. Both Finland and Ukraine used to be parts of Russian Empire. Why is the difference then? All this stories about `provocation` have no logical grounds and purely emotional. We cannot rely on emotions, since tomorrow Russians might start having `emotions` towards other former territories like Alaska.
